YSH or California Grill?

I have an ADR for YSH but now I am thinking of changing it to California Grill,I do love lobster and plan on ordering surf and turf at YSH,how good is the lobster there?I would order the steak at California Grill since I don't see lobster on the menu.Is the steak better at YSH or California Grill?

Last year, my DH and I ate at Yachtman's for the first night of our honeymoon. It was our big night out. We both ordered the filet and it was pretty good. Our waiter was actually the best part of the evening. I believe his name was Oscar, and he was extremely friend. He even brought a rose for me. (Although DH says it was all him )

This year for our anniversary we are going to California Grill for the first time. I can't give you any recommendations on CG yet, but YSH was definitely worth it. It was a great atmosphere and meal.

We thought the CG was the best place we ate in the last two trips to WDW! Food was incredible and we timed it to see tinkerbell fly over the castle. Amazing dinner!

I just added California Grill to my ADR's for Dec. Got 7:50 on Monday the 12th. The CM (Sybil Ann) was the MOST delightful person to talk to and SOOOOO helpful! I;m having a Disney Day!

The menus on www.allears.com have been helpful too.

CG has a good steak--but only one--a filet. YSH has a # of different steaks.
IF the only steak you are interested in is a filet, then CG would be fine. BUt then, they don't have lobster--.
I guess you need to decide if surf and turf is that important.
CG is much the better restaurant in terms of view--. Were it me, I'd go there before YSH.

The lobster is excellent at YSH.
Steak is the thing at YSH, they serve beef that is aged right there on Disney property and then it is grilled on a real wood stove. When the steak is almost done to your liking, they let it set for just a few minutes on a warming rack just above the cooking area, this helps seal in the natural juices.
Oscar is an excellent server, but so is so many of the other servers at YSH.
I would stick with what you have and give YSH a try.

We will be eating at YSH this Dec for the first time.
But, I have eaten 2x at California Grill & loved the food both times. The second trip, we had some issues with our server, but the Food & the View were spectacular.

I think you have to go with which menu suits you better. Personally, I find the menu at CG more appealing, we are doing YSH for DH who is a steak kinda guy. Even that Steak Guy loves CG tho. He requested that we go back this trip so he could have that Oak Fired Filet again.

If you want a delicious Surf & Turf with a great view of the MK & Seven Seas Lagoon, consider Narcoosees (just to make things more confusing)
