You've Got a Friend in Me:TINKGURL & XOKTENOX's Adventures in WDW~UPDATE: 6/9 p.74

I love your Ariel top, Tink! It's so cute!

Oh gosh. That rain was INSANE. We were sitting in the GCH at the time watching people run for cover. I'm sure you guys had an awesome view of the downpour from your room.

I totally know what you mean about the WDW sounds. I love laying in a hammock on the Poly beach listening to the boats, the people talking/laughing/splashing in the pool, the background music, and hearing the occasional firework from the castle show at MK.

I love all of the pictures of the view from your room. I really wanna stay at the Contemporary someday!

Raspberry Rain? That sounds delicious. I'll definitely have to add that to my I'm FINALLY Old Enough to Drink These List for my next trip.

Awwwwww. I love the flip flop war/Power Rangers pics. Isn't it funny how some of the best memories from WDW vacations happen in the hotel room? And I just realized how dirty that sounds. But I'm not talking about those kind of memories. I mean, the hilarious, goofing around with your family kind of memories. :rotfl:

Aw I can't believe they're already leaving! Why must WDW vacations always go by so fast?

Aww I hate goodbyes :( I can't believe you're halfway through your trip already, Tink! And I'm with everyone else- your Ariel tank is so cute! :goodvibes

Sorry for the lack of replies! I'll be back later to do that but I want to finish up this day on mine and Chris' end. I leave for WDW on May 31st and our deadline to finish this is May 30th haha so we need to get a move on!

When we last left off, Chris and I had spent the afternoon touring Pop, swimming and cleaning up for the rest of our evening! At around 5:30 we headed down to catch a bus to….the Magic Kingdom!

It was still a little overcast but we got to the MK with no rain on us.
512.jpg

First we went over and grabbed FP’s for BTMRR. It was crowdedddd, one of the first times we really were bothered by the crowds. We figured we could head over and do Philharmagic since that’s usually a walk on and we could get out of the humidity so that’s where we went next. However, we got over there and the line was insane! I mean weaving through the whole outside queue, something I’d never seen before! We really didn’t want to wait, especially outside so we just walked a little more through Fantasyland.
513.jpg

We walked through the castle but there were just SOOO many people we couldn’t even stop to get some pictures of the beautiful murals inside. The shops along Main St. gave us some respite from the humitidy so we did walk through those on our way back to the front of the MK. We were excited for where we were headed next…the Wilderness Lodge for dinner at Whispering Canyon Café! So at around 7:15 we headed to the boat dock and went over to the WL!

I love taking pictures on the boat rides!

Finally, we made it to one of our favorite resorts!
519.jpg

We had a little time before our dinner reservation so we went over to the Territory Lounge in hopes of grabbing a drink while we waited. We sat down, ordered, an the bartender asked us for ID…it was now that I realized I had left Chris’ ID in our room! I usually hold on to everything when we’re in WDW. I have this thing where I always think if Chris has his wallet on him (in his pocket) he’s going to get pickpocketed or it’s going to fall out. I know, I’m weird. Anyway, I remember going into the safe in our room to get some more cash out and in trying to get everything situated in my Vera bag, I took out some things, placing them in the safe while I organized. Needless to say, Chris’ ID was locked in our safe in the room and the bartender wouldn’t give him a drink. I felt so bad! Honestly, he doesn’t get IDed much anymore so I didn’t think it was going to be a problem but the bartender was adamant. Bad girlfriend lol So I had a frozen margarita and Chris just had a Coke.

After a while we went and checked in at WCC and sat in the lobby of the WL while we waited for our buzzer to go off.
520.jpg

Within a few minutes we were being seating in WCC. Last time we ate here for dinner we were all the way in the back, overlooking the WL lobby so we weren’t involved in all the shananigans. This time we were happy to be seated right in the middle of the fun!
521.jpg

Our server was nice but seemed very busy. Soon she brought us this and took our dinner order.
522.jpg

523.jpg

524.jpg

I ordered the chicken and pasta and Chris ordered steak. I always have to order a bottomless milkshake here!
525.jpg

527.jpg

I think this was an apple cobbler or something that we both got for dessert
528.jpg

While eating there were so many cute things going on. The kids in the restaurant got to gallop around on horses (if you remember, Tink’s Little Guy and Cuz participated in this, so adorable!) and of course “KETCHUP!!!!!!!” happened several times. We enjoyed the meal but it did take quite a long time. At the end of the meal, our waitress made me stand up and have the restaurant sing Happy Birthday to me! She brought me out a cupcake which I think we actually threw away later lol At about 9:15, we were done and headed out. Our next destination was…back to the MK! We had some fireworks and a new parade to see!

By the time a boat came, it was like 9:30 and we were getting nervous, wondering if we’d be able to find a decent spot to sit for the fireworks! Then, the boat stops. We look up ahead and the Electric Water Pageant was going on! We had to wait for it to finish outside of the Contemporary and then wait for it to pass before our boat could go! More time was ticking! On the boat we decided to watch the Nightastic fireworks from up on top of the train station. I was fairly confident that there would be some room up there even this close to the show time.

We made it to the train station with about 5 mintues to spare. There were a decent amount of people up there but we were ok. I actually sat on top of a garbage can to get a better view! I’ll let the pictures do the talking for now. They’re not exceptional shots but oh well lol

We really enjoyed the Nightastic fireworks show! I’d say I think it’s a tie with Wishes. The theme was adorable and I loved when the pirates attacked the castle! Once the fireworks were over we waited it out a little bit and then headed down to Main St. We wanted to watch the Main St. Electrical Parade at 11:00 and decided to just grab seats now rather than fight the crowds that were leaving and then have to find seats again later. We sat on the curb right in the middle of Main St. The crowds leaving were CRAZY. Anyone heading towards the castle was truly swimming upstream. It made Chris and I happy to see so many people leaving though because that meant we’d have low crowds for the parade and afterwards. After a few minutes a family sat down next to us. We all began talking and it turned out that they were from Tennessee but originally from Northern NJ! Again we got into a conversation about how Chris and I want to move down South asap. They could relate to the outrageous taxes, prices etc. we experience because NJ is basically the same. They said they have lived in TN for like 5 years now and just love it. Talking to them was nice as it helped pass the time before the MSEP started. At 11:00, it was time!

We did like the MSEP but I have to be honest, I’m a Spectromagic girl. When I hear that, “On this magic night…” I just get chills! Chris thought the MSEP was weird. So we did like the parade but it wasn’t our favorite.

After the MSEP we let some crowds clear out and then headed over to Adventureland…we wanted to ride the Jungle Cruise at night! It was now EMH time so we showed our room keys and in no time at all were headed out! We had a really funny skipper! He was a young guy and I just was envious of him. He gets to spend his everyday working at WDW and making people laugh. So cool. Next we headed over to Frontierland to use our BTMRR FP’s from before dinner. Another ride that’s TEN TIMES better at night!! It really just seems to go faster. I was starting to feel pretty bad at this point. I don’t know about you guys but when I’m sick, I always feel worse in the morning and at night. But, I was trying to suck it up so, we headed over to Philharmagic. People just get so rude with the CMs during EMH. It’s very simple: if you don’t have your room key, you don’t get on the ride/attraction! People were in front of Philharmagic giving a young Asian CM a hard time. She spoke broken English and they were just yelling at her! Chris and I quickly flashed her our room keys and squeezed in, leaving the rude people behind. Of course, Philharmagic was amazing as usual. It brings tears to my eyes!

I was determined to stay later since we had low crowds and EMH til 2:00am but I was really losing steam. We decided to walk over to Tomorrowland to see if we could ride Space Mountain for the first time since April 09. We hadn’t ridden last December because it was down for refurb so we really wanted to see the new ride. First though, I had to try one of the raved about cream cheese filled pretzels sold at the Lunching Pad. Chris ran to use the bathroom so I grabbed us each one and sat down waiting for him. It was good but Chris didn’t like it. He was being Mr. Picky this night! We hopped on line for Space which said it had a 20 minute wait but the line looked way longer than that. People were scrambling outside trying to find their room keys and my head was starting to pound at this point. I was feeling dizzy and just ready to go to bed. It was like 12:45am and although I had grand goals of staying til 2, it just wasn’t happening. I told Chris I wasn’t feeling well and thought we should head back and he was fine with that. Sorry for the lack of pictures after the MSEP!!

We made it back to Pop by 1:30 and fell RIGHT to sleep. The plan for the next day was to head to Blizzard Beach…would we stick to it?

We have had a couple of times that we were in a Magic Kingdom that was far too crowded to enjoy. I know getting on the boat and heading out of the crowd and to beautiful Wilderness Lodge gave you much relief. Your food looked good!

I want to stay at Wilderness Lodge again, but I have so many more resorts that I have to add to our list first. WL is one I could feel very much at home in at any time, though.

Sounds like you needed to sleep in the next morning. I guess we have to wait until the next chapter to find out. :)

Aww, I can't believe it's time for their vacation to end already! I've looked forward to seeing all of the little guy's reactions.

You really have me wanting to go see those Mickey ears at the Contemporary for a picture. I've never seen them, but you have so many cute pics there from all your TRs.

Thanks for reading! I am sad this part of the TR is ending as well. I've loved sharing his experiences. I hope you'll stick around for the rest of the TR!

Aw thanks. You will have to go check the ears out. Your DD would love sitting in them.

I love your Ariel top, Tink! It's so cute!

Oh gosh. That rain was INSANE. We were sitting in the GCH at the time watching people run for cover. I'm sure you guys had an awesome view of the downpour from your room.

That's so funny you remember where you were during that downpour. Little did we know that we were just a monorail ride apart!

Yes-you have to try that drink once you're old enough!

Ha, you're right. It is cool how random memories like that are the ones that stick out. And you are hilarious. Get your mind out of the gutter! LOL

Aww I hate goodbyes :( I can't believe you're halfway through your trip already, Tink! And I'm with everyone else- your Ariel tank is so cute! :goodvibes

Thanks for reading along! And thanks. I saw the tank and had to have it!

Great update!! We're going to eat at WCC in August and can't wait. Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun :-)
I'm with you-- nothing is as special as Spectromagic. We're not huge MSEP fans.
Sorry you were feeling sick-- I hope a good night's sleep did you well!

Once more, great update from you both! Seeing all of this is definitely helping me to get pumped for our trip in 3 months!

Great update! I'm also a Spectro Magic girl! :thumbsup2 Sorry you were feeling so poorly towards the end of the night... I hope it didn't last! I've never had the cream cheese stuffed pretzel, but it sounds fabulous!!!

Aw, I love Spectromagic too! DD loved that parade the best. I've never seen the MSEP though, so I can't wait to see it in a few weeks to compare!

So funny about your thoughts on the Jungle Cruise CM. I had a friend who did the college program and that was his job. He LOVED it!

I want to move down south, too, but maybe that's because I grew up in VA and am still not used to living up north. I would love to move back to my hometown area.

All caught up :upsidedow Again :rolleyes1
Ohhh Tink how sad to say goodbye :sad1: So hard to watch anyone leave when you are all having such a wonderful time. Until next time ;)
Hahaha Kristen you had me cracking up with that woman's hair!! Maybe she was just on a cruise and did it to amuse her grandkids?!! :rotfl:
I love both the MSEP and Spectro parades.....the MSEP is of course nostalgic for my old self as that was the first parade I ever saw at Disney :rolleyes1 although I do love Spectro..music etc. So funny that Chris thought it was weird!! I guess it is kind of weird music....was way ahead of its day back in the 70's!! :rotfl:

Tracy

Aww Kristen, sorry you were feeling so crappy! I hope it got better...or at least whatever medicine you had took away some of it for at least a little while!

We didn't get to see MSEP. I think I would have been really sad without my SpectroMagic! It's one of those things I have to see every trip and I love hearing Jiminy Cricket saying it's starting in so many minutes, and the music just gives me chills. It's my favorite Disney parade :goodvibes

Did you get the Disney Parks DVD's yet? I haven't watched all of them but the ones I have watched are awesome & such a nice little fix!

Just getting caught up on y'alls trip report!!! Loving the detail!!!!!!!

Oh my goodness, I'm finally caught up again! What a great bunch of updates! I love the Ohana breakfast update! We're going there for the first time next month! I can't wait to try it!

So Kristen, are you just loving this winter?! I'm sooooooooo done with it and want it to be spring!

July 24th, 2010

Hello everyone! We are so sorry that we have been lacking on updates. Life has been busy with school starting back up. Luckily, I had time today to finally sit down and get one done!

This morning is a really hard part of the TR to write. All the feelings that I had that day come rushing back to me. As soon as the alarm went off, I dreaded getting up. Of course, while we were getting ready, Fiancé had to go over and bring Little Guy back to our room one last time. He was in such a good mood that it made knowing that he was leaving that much harder.

After we got everything in our room packed up, we headed down to Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle’s room. They were just finishing up packing as well. As we headed out the door, Mom looked at me and we both started crying. As Little Guy held me in the elevator one last time, he asked me why I was crying. I told him I was sad the vacation was over. We played around in the lobby while Dad and Uncle went to get the cars. Once they pulled up, we loaded our luggage.

Then, it was the moment I was dreading..saying goodbye. Everyone was crying at this point. Even Fiancé had tears coming. We were crying for so many reasons. Because it was seriously the best trip. Ever. Because it was so much fun showing WDW to Little Guy and seeing his reactions. Because it was Grandma and Grandpa’s last time ever coming to WDW.

We helped them get all situated in their car and let them drive way so Little Guy didn’t ask why we weren’t going the same way as them. After they turned the corner and we couldn’t see them anymore, I said “Can they turn around and come back? They should stay this 2nd week with us.” But of course, I knew they couldn’t. Work and life at home was calling them. It was crazy thinking almost a week ago, we were in that same spot unloading the car and excited for the adventures to come.

Once we got settled into our car, we headed to our “home” for the next week: OKW! I was so excited to finally be back there. It was torture driving by there on my spring break trip with Fiancé. The whole drive there though, it was hard to get excited. Once you see WDW in the eyes of your child, it’s hard to see it differently. And without him there now, it was hard to have fun.

We arrived and parked in the check-in parking lot. While Dad went to the front desk, Fiancé and I kept walking to the dock.

It was already hot that morning, so my camera was fogging up!

After a few minutes, Dad, Mom, and Sis came out. Our room was ready! Building 21, room number 2123. I checked it out on the Resort map and figured out that our bus stop was the Miller’s Road. The CM at check-in was also nice to give Sis a birthday pin since we were getting close to her b-day.

The original plan of this morning was to head to DTD because they were having an AP discount deal at the WoD store that ended at 8 am. We still had a little over an hour, so we decided to just drive there and unpack later.

Before we could enter the store, we had to prove that we were AP, which made us feel like VIP, haha.. As it got closer to 8, we rounded up and made our way to check-out because we didn’t want to miss out on the deal. Good thing we did because the CM shut our check-out down right behind us! We were the last ones for her! Whew! I’m sorry, but everything we got seems to have slipped my mind. I know we got a magnet frame for our fridge like we do every year. I also got this really interesting book that has all the sketches that were drawn up when planning the parks, resorts, and certain attractions. It’s at home, but I think it’s called “The Art of Disney” or something of that nature.

Of course, by this time, we were starving. We had been up since 5 am with nothing to eat! I remembered reading that Earl does breakfast as well, so we headed there. Fiancé and I showed them where we sat outside on our trip. Of course, I can’t remember what I had to eat, but I know everyone loved what they got.

After we ate, we headed to Tren-D and Team Mickey. In Tren-D, Sis and I both got these really cute Mickey flip-flops. I got the white pair and she got the brown pair. I’ve been trying to find a picture of them online to show you guys, but I can’t find one! Then, we headed over to Team Mickey to get Uncle a shirt he asked us to buy for him that he had seen earlier in the trip. I took a pic of it on my phone and sent it to him.

Once we bought the shirt, we headed over to the photopass place to look our pics and buy the one we wanted to frame. We also bought one for Uncle and one for Grandma and Grandpa, and got them frames to go with it. The pic we chose was all of us on Main St. the day we arrived, wearing the shirts we had made. It’s such a good pic. While we were waiting for the pics to print, the CM’s there were so nice and gave Fiancé and I “Just Married” and “Anniversary” pins after we told her that we were coming there for the honeymoon of course.

With the pics in hand, we headed over to the engraving place connected to the x-mas store. We had engraved what we had written on our shirts. We arranged for them to be sent to our room once they were done. With that out of the way, it was time for us to do an annual tradition: pick out an ornament for the tree! Fiancé and I decided to share an ornament this year because we saw this adorable Mickey and Minnie ornament.

This is a pic from Google:

mickeyandminn.jpg

Of course, Sis ended up getting a princess one as usual. We also got a few other Mickey ones that we thought were cute. Mom was shocked that I did not get my usual Tink ornament. I was shocked too, haha!

With ornaments bought and arranged to be sent to our room, we were ready to eat some lunch. I had already told them that we were eating at Earl for lunch because they did not know what they were missing. On the way, we had to take a traditional pic:

momdisney194.jpg

And then it was time for some of the best sandwiches ever:

336-2.jpg

I can’t remember what everyone ordered, but I remember Dad and I both had the Italian. Of course, I had to get the chocolate pudding for dessert. Oh yeah! It was as good as I had remembered it being from March. Mom, Dad, and Sis agreed that they were so good.

After lunch, we decided to head back to check out the room and get unpacked. I was excited to see what floor we were on and what our view would be of. We were right near the golf course. Of course, as I was taking pics, there were some golfers so I was being quiet. Sis saw that and yells out “FORE!” I duck down and run back inside. Dad was out in the living room too and him and Sis were just laughing so hard. I yelled at them and went to my room to unpack, haha. Here’s the pics I got:

Since we had something else planned to wear to Kona that night, we got changed and walked up to the Conch House (main building) for some drinks before heading to the MK.

~Up next: Our journey from OKW to the Poly for dinner with Kristen and Chris!

OH, it's always so sad to see the party get split because some have to leave. Booooo! And I can totally see how you'd have a hard time getting excited for the next week. but, I know you did- eventually.

You had a wonderful view right on the golf course, VERY pretty!

Score on the last customer of the sale!! Nice!!:banana:

Aww, the end of a trip is always so sad! :sad2: Sounds like you were able to squeeze in some last-minute fun though.

Your ornament is super cute and I love the OKW pictures. Can't wait until March!

I've reading your TR since day one and I even went back and read some of your older TR's! You and your fiance remind me a lot of my BF and I:) Earl of Sandwich is the ABSOLUTE best TS in WDW. My BF and I absolutely love it! It's a must do every trip.
