You've Got a Friend in Me:TINKGURL & XOKTENOX's Adventures in WDW~UPDATE: 6/9 p.74

Great update, Tink! I am slowly digging my way out of the I'm-way-too-far-behind hole, but loved your update about how quickly you all clicked. That's so cool!! Mary and I were the same way, and I loved it!

Okay Tink...the pic of your dad with his "little" tea. OMG, that cracks me up!!! Just from that pic alone, I think Chad's mom wants to go eat there when we go for her birthday next September! lol

Hey Liesa! Glad you are getting caught up.

Isn't it great?! We loved that we got along so well, so fast!

:rotfl: The little tea was so funny! WCC is a fun place for those who make it fun. We definitely make it fun. :)

Sounds like you guys had a great evening!

Great pics from WL. What time does the geyser go off?

How neat to have the whole restaurant watching you and you grandparents kissing!!! :rotfl2:

It sounds like your waitress was awesome!!!!

How nice that you got to spend more time with Kristen & Chris.... relaxing and talking. :goodvibes

Awww, what an an awesome evening! I want to eat at WCC sometime just b/c I know my dad would milk it. We ate at 50's PTC one time and knowing how they are there, he told our waitress that he wanted an iced tea, but to please bring it quickly because he was really, really thirsty. She brought him out a whole pitcher with a little straw in it :rotfl2: I love the picture of your dad with his little tea!

Isn't it awesome when you all just click? It was like that with me and Katie (who I also met through MeMom's thread), and my boyfriend and her boyfriend. We all got along so well and had so much fun together, it's awesome when you meet someone on here that really becomes your best friend :goodvibes

Hey Tim! :)

Thanks! WL is so neat to look around. The geyser goes off on the hour, every hour.

:rotfl2: It was an hilarious and awkward moment.

Our waitress was the best ever! She just loved Little Guy so much.

Relaxing in the pool and hot tub is definitely a great way to wind down the day! What made it even better was being with our friends!

Thanks for reading!

haha, Sounds like your Dad would enjoy WCC then! But be sure to go during dinner because that's when the crazy antics are!

Aw, that's great you have that with Katie! :goodvibes

I'll be short with the small talk today...I just want to say

Happy Halloween to everyone!!

Chris and I went to a Halloween party last night. I was a pig and he was a farmer...budget costumes this year! haha Anyway, my DIS time has been super limited these days. I logged on today and it said I hadn't been on since 10-27...I never am away that long, even if I'm not replying, I'm reading. I'm just been super swamped with work :(

The big news though is that my friend who we're renting points from for next year booked us at the Beach Club Villas today! For whatever reason though, she was only able to book the first 2 nights and she said she has to call back Tuesday for the rest...I don't understand why. If anyone has any insight on that, let me know. Also, last time we rented we paid for the dining plan when we got there. She said they told her the new rules are that you have to pay when you book meaning we have to come up with extra money right now, before the holidays which is not something I'm looking forward to having to do. Does anyone know if and when they changed this? Aside from those things, I'm so excited!!!! :yay: If for any reason we can't get BCV for all the days I told her our second choice is Villas at Wilderness Lodge and 3rd would be BLT. We'll see how things go on Tuesday! Ok, going to type an update right now!

July 22, 2010~~

We had an early breakfast at Hollywood & Vine at 8:30, so I was up early again to have my turn in the shower. Of course, as we were all getting ready, Fiancé went over and brought Little Guy back to our room. I don’t know which of them two loved that more. Haha. When they came in our room, I reminded Little Guy where we were eating breakfast. He got so excited. He said, “Will they sit with us?” I had to explain to him that they had to go around to every table like Mickey and Minnie and everyone did at Chef Mickey’s. I said, “But, at least you’ll get to meet them and say hi to them!” He thought that sounded okay. Little did we all know that this was going to be our best character meal of the trip!

After we were ready, we headed down to Grandma and Grandpa/Uncle’s room to get them. As we headed down the elevator, Little Guy was telling everyone who was going to be at breakfast. Uncle started jumping up and down like a little kid and screaming “Yay! Yay!” Everyone started laughing and Little Guy goes, “Oh dad! Stop it! They are just for little kids, not you.” HAHA.

As we walked out of the lobby and found some benches to sit on and wait for a bus, I checked the time: 7:05! I said to everyone, “Wow. I think this trip has been some big records for us. We have never been up and to the bus stops this early in the morning for a llllllllllllllong time.” Dad said to me, “The last time we were ever up this early was when you, and then when we started taking your sister, were Little Guy’s age.” That’s been awhile. Haha.

After a night of wonderful Disney dreaming, the wake-up call woke me at 7:15 this morning. I got showered and woke Chris for him to get showered and ready as well. By 8:15 we were heading down to the bus stop where a DHS bus was waiting for us! Within 10 mins or so, we were walking through the turnstiles to enter the park and wait for rope drop.

While we were waiting for our bus, Little Guy was asking me about some of the rides that we are going to go on that day. I reminded him of the Playhouse Disney show, the Voyage of the Little Mermaid show (yes, he likes that movie!), TSM, and I promised him that we would try to find Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater. He remembered me talking about all of this way before our trip, so he was really excited that the day had come. About 10 minutes later, a DHS bus pulled up. You have no idea how hard it is for us to call it Hollywood Studios and not MGM. I think it will always be MGM to us. I’m sure people around us think we’re nuts, especially people who are new to WDW and did not know the park when it was MGM. They’re probably thinking, “But it says Hollywood Studios…what is this MGM they are talking about?!” haha.

We were the first ones on the bus, so Little Guy wanted to head all the way to the very back. I got out one of the best things that we brought for him to play with: a little Doodle Pro. He’d ask me what I wanted him to draw. This time I said, “Surprise me!” He was sitting next to Fiancé, so he helped Little Guy out. When they were done, this is what I saw:

akdisney292.jpg

I think Fiancé helped A LOT. Haha. After he showed everyone his picture, the spiel came on letting us know that we were arriving at the park! Little Guy handed me his Doodle Pro, leaned over onto Fiancé and pressed his face against the window. He said, “I can’t see any rides!” We said to him, “That’s because we’re not in there yet. Don’t worry, there’s rides.” As we got off our bus and headed towards the entrance, it was nice to see what a quiet morning it was. There was hardly anyone there yet! Of course, that’s because rope drop wasn’t until 9, so anyone that was there, was there for breakfast. We made it through bag check and headed under here:

285.jpg

My camera was still foggy from adjusting from being in the blasting A/C of the bus to the already hot morning outside! Like I said, there was hardly anyone there!:

286-1.jpg

Things weren’t even open yet!:

288-1.jpg

I immediately saw the sign for where we had to check-in, so we all stood around there while Dad went up.

287-1.jpg

The CM let us know that they weren’t letting anyone in until 8, so we had about 15 minutes still. Little Guy loved running around the big open area. He was showing off of course for the family behind us. He’d do something and they’d laugh, so he’d do it again. Haha. I kept track of the time, and when it was almost 8, Little Guy came back in line. The first thing he did? Stood in front of Fiancé with his arms up in the air. He already knew where he was going to end up, haha. And that’s when I got one of my favorite pictures of the whole trip:

289-1.jpg

I don’t know if it’s the lighting from the sun behind them or the excitement on their faces or what, but I just love that picture.

And at 8 on the dot, they started letting us in. I was so excited because we had never been to a park this early. It was like almost having it to ourselves. Sis ran over and got us guide times:

290-1.jpg

As we headed to H&V, we walked slowly and just took everything in.

291-1.jpg

293-2.jpg

294-2.jpg

295-1.jpg

292-2.jpg

296-1.jpg

We turned left and didn’t have to walk too far to get to the restaurant.

297-2.jpg

Little Guy wanted to see if he could see any of the characters yet, so he and Mom peeked through the window:

akdisney297.jpg

No such luck! Mom reassured him that they were probably still getting ready to come out. The CM at check-in said that it would be a few minutes, so we took Little Guy over by the water.

298-2.jpg

He was on a mission to find some fish swimming in there.

akdisney296.jpg

After a few minutes of that, he was starting to get antsy. Luckily, the CM yelled out to us that our table was ready. We walked in and they had this big sign. I can’t remember exactly what it said, but it said something about Playhouse Disney. It was adorable. They had music playing. Little Guy and I realized that it was the theme song from ‘Little Einsteins’, so we started dancing and singing along the whole way to our table.

Our waitress explained what order the characters would be coming from, and since it was a buffet, we could start getting our food whenever. Of course, I stayed back with Little Guy just in case anyone came. Luckily, everyone made it back before our first character: June! Little Guy jumped out of his seat and gave her a big hug. June loved that, so she gave him a big kiss:

momdisney142.jpg

She just was in love with him. She kept hugging him again and kissing him. Of course, Little Guy was loving all that attention. Then, she asked if he was ready to get a picture with her. Of course, it was in sign language terms, so we had to translate for her. Cuz ran over and got in the pic:

momdisney143.jpg

And to think, I was worried he would be scared of the characters! Haha. June went around the table and gave everyone hugs. She was quite the friendly gal. Then, she saw Fiancé and I’s “Just Engaged” buttons. She steps in-between our chairs and makes Fiancé take her hand. She put her hand to her mouth like she was giggling and then patted her cheeks like she was blushing. Then, she pointed to our camera on the table and made Sis take a picture of them:

akdisney301.jpg

Of course, Fiancé was red the entire time. He doesn’t like having a lot of attention and everyone looking at him. I thought the whole thing was hilarious. She kept looking at me to see if I was getting jealous. Haha. As we all thanked her and waved her bye, she blew kisses to Fiancé and Little Guy. Well then. Who knew June was such a flirt?! Haha.

As she was walking away, I saw Handy Manny coming. I pointed him out to Little Guy and he was up and out of his seat in no time.

momdisney144.jpg

Handy Manny hugged him back, then asked for a high five. He gave Little Guy two thumbs up, then posed for a pic:

momdisney145.jpg

If you ask me, he was the least interactive of all the characters. After he left, I finally headed up to get some food. There were some good selections; just like every other breakfast buffet at WDW.

After a bit of eating, JoJo was heading our way. She was one character that Little Guy did not know. He has never seen her show before. The only time that I have ever seen it on t.v. is in the middle of the night. I guess she just isn’t popular anymore? Which can explain why she was replaced by Special Agent Oso, which makes me so mad because Little Guy loves that show! Oh well, that just means we will have to take him back there. Haha. Any excuse to go back is good with me!

momdisney147.jpg

JoJo really liked Little Guy too. She kept hugging him and patting him on the head. As she was walking away, she high-fived Leo, who was coming to our table! Little Guy was already out of his seat and ran right up to him.

momdisney148.jpg

Leo took Little Guy’s hand and did the “C’mon, follow me.” sign. They walked up to this little area by the entrance. JoJo was rounding up some kids and brought them up as well. A CM came out dressed in Playhouse Disney colors and had one of those head mic’s on. It was time for the kids to sing and dance! Little Guy didn’t know if he wanted to be up there at first, but I was down right in front of him, behind the CM, so he felt okay. Plus, Cuz was up there with him.

Oh my gosh, this was the cutest part of the meal! They’d go through the song once, then learn the dance moves, then go through the song at least once or twice more.

momdisney150.jpg

momdisney152.jpg

As I smiled and watched him having fun up there, I got teary-eyed. This was one of those moments that I had been waiting for. It was something that we were going to always remember from the trip. It was something he got to do and interact with the characters. As he smiled at Leo and JoJo, I was instantly reminded of how I felt being at WDW at his age. To him, they WERE Leo and JoJo. And a part of me still wishes that I could feel that way again.

After they were done with their song, the CM thanked all the kids for coming up. Little Guy grabbed my hand and we headed back to our table. The first thing he says to everyone was “Did you see me?!” Of course, they all told him how good he was doing and how fun it looked.

By this time, we were all getting close to done eating. Our waitress realizes this and says, “I’ll be right back with something special!” She came back with two plates of chocolate covered strawberries! One for Grandma and Grandpa to share for celebrating their anniversary, and one for Fiancé and I for celebrating our engagement.:

akdisney305.jpg

Of course, you know who ended up eating Fiancé’s:

momdisney162.jpg

While we were eating those, JoJo came back around to our table. She recognized us and decided that everyone should have a turn getting a pic with her since she only posed with Little Guy and Cuz last time.:

momdisney154.jpg

momdisney156.jpg

Grandma and Sis must’ve been in the restroom at this point since they didn’t get one with her. Then, JoJo took Little Guy’s hand and they walked back up to where they did the dancing and singing. The CM came back out and for awhile it was just Little Guy and JoJo, then Cuz went up there, then June came up. It was a fun little moment just them.

akdisney306.jpg

momdisney158.jpg

momdisney160.jpg

After they were all done, June hugged Little Guy again and he ran back to our table. By this time, it was getting close to 9, which meant rope drop! So, we figured out our plan. Uncle, Sis, Fiancé, and Cuz were heading to RnRC. Dad, Little Guy, and I were heading to TSM with the herd, while Mom stayed back with Grandma and Grandpa. Once the herd started to clear, they were going to head back to TSM and get FP’s for later.

As Chris and I went through the turnstiles, we headed to the right. I followed a little trick I’d heard here on the DIS to go through the shops on the right hand side of the street and you can get up further towards the rope. So, that’s just what we did!

337.jpg

338.jpg

339.jpg

340.jpg

341.jpg

It was getting crowded quickly! It was nice though to be by some of the shops because it was already getting hot that morning as well. The air conditioning was coming out of the open store doors a little bit which was nice.

342.jpg

344.jpg

Before we knew it, the rope had dropped and we were off with the herds towards TSM! It’s so hard not to get separated weaving in and out of all the people!

I texted Kristen as we were walking out and realized that the rope drop had started! Dad picked up Little Guy and we started walking alongside the herd and made our way in. As we made our way closer, I felt someone grab my hand. I turned around and it was Kristen! She and Chris had weaved their way up to us! I got Little Guy’s attention and once he saw they were with us, he got a big smile on his face.

The whole rest of the way back to TSM, I held onto one of Dad’s loops on his shorts with one hand and held Kristen’s hand with the other, then she held onto Chris with her other hand, so we had a train going. If we didn’t, we probably would’ve gotten split up in that crazy herd! I swear some people go too crazy with it and start pushing and shoving into everyone. Things like that are not fun for someone little like me! Ha.

But, we did make it in line and the wait time already said 40 minutes! I told Little Guy that we were going to wear 3D glasses on the ride and that we had to aim at targets and pull a trigger. He thought that sounded fun. Since we had gotten in line right at rope drop, they weren’t weaving very much inside, so we didn’t get much time to see everything. Although, I am not complaining about the short line! Ha.

I got a few quick pictures…
345.jpg

346.jpg

Chris was being a pain and yelling at me for stopping to take these when I already had the same ones from our other trips…I didn’t care though!

347.jpg

348.jpg

Long Island!
349.jpg

This is adorable
350.jpg

The time that we did have to wait, which was way less than 40 minutes, Little Guy was telling Kristen and Chris who he had met at breakfast. Then, he had to show them the “Popcorn Dance”, which is one of the dances he learned while up there singing and dancing. I was so glad that he wasn’t shy around them. I had been talking about them a lot to him before the trip since Kristen and I talk every day. He has sent her lots of videos and pics!

Once we made it to the loading area, I started getting excited. I was so happy to be back! We decided that Little Guy was going to sit on Dad’s lap so I could ride with them. We sat down, put on our glasses, and off we went!

Little Guy was having so much fun shooting at the targets. He especially liked it when he hit targets that would blast a puff of air or squirt water out. When he hit one of them, he’d let out this loud laugh. We were having so much fun. I do have to admit, I wish the ride was longer! When they showed us our final scores, I pretended that Little Guy had beat me since he can’t tell that yet. He thought he was awesome. When we made it back to the loading area, Little Guy said, “It’s over?!” I was afraid he was going to throw a fit, but he did just fine. As Kristen and Chris made it out behind us, Little Guy made sure to tell them that he beat me. They high-fived him and I could tell that he was happy.

I do believe that for the first time ever, I beat Chris!

351.jpg

He wasn’t pleased and told me he’d get me back! haha

We returned our 3D glasses and made it back outside. We started walking and saw the rest of my group! Everyone that had went to RnRC were already done too! Mom had our FP’s for later, so we just had to decide what to do next! There was a Voyage of the Little Mermaid show coming up at 9:40 am, which was in 15 minutes, so we decided to head there. Kristen and Chris decided to skip that, so we said our good-byes and promised to keep in touch.

Chris and I usually FP TSM after we ride it stand by so the plan was for him to get in line…however it was all the way back past One Man’s Dream! So I’m standing with TInk’s family waiting for Chris and all of a sudden I look and he’s like half way up the line! He cut people! Within 5 seconds though they (nicely) said something to him so he just left the line. I couldn’t believe he did that!!

As we walked right into the waiting area, Little Guy asked if this was a ride. I explained to him that it was going to be a show. We watched the Little Mermaid before the trip, so I reminded him of all the characters that we were going to see. He asked me if Ursula was going to be real. I didn’t want to say yes and have him scared, so I explained that she was a “robot” since audio-animatronic is a pretty big word for him. Haha. He was seemed okay with that answer. A few minutes later, they let us in to sit down. He sat on my lap so he could see better. This also helped so I could just whisper in his ear something that I wanted to point out to him. He asked me again before the show started if Ursula was going to be real. I promised him that she was not.

Before we knew it, the lights went out and the show was starting! Little Guy had his mouth open in awe the whole time. I understood how Mom and Dad felt bringing me to the show for the first time. I was so excited for him to see everything. He thought the water was so cool when it came down on us. We danced along with Sebastian as he sang “Under the Sea.” He did fine when Ursula came out. He just held my hand for a little bit, but then he let go. And we laughed when big ’ol Max was up there on stage. The show was the perfect length of time for him! We all clapped at the end. Here’s the only good shots we got:

akdisney309.jpg

akdisney310.jpg

akdisney311.jpg

As we walked out of the theater, we talked about where we wanted to go next. Little Guy asked where Lightning McQueen was, so we decided to head back to Streets of America and find him.

As Tink and her family enjoyed VotLM, Chris and I decided to go hit up the thrill rides, Tower of Terror and Rockin’ Rollercoaster. We seriously LOVE both of these. We slowly wandered to that side of the park.

352.jpg

A place we both want to eat but haven’t been willing to give up 2 credits yet for!

353.jpg

354.jpg

355.jpg

356.jpg

We grabbed FPs for ToT and decided to just do the stand-by line for RnRC. It said 60 minutes but our experience told us the wait times were usually less than the posted time. We hoped that this was the case and hopped in line. Honestly, it wasn’t such a bad wait. The line was always moving and they had big fans set up all over to make the oppressive heat a little better. As we were waiting in line, we could hear the screams coming from here

357.jpg

The anticipation was growing because I wanted to see what kind of changes had been done for the Summer Nightastic!

So through the RnRC line we went and within 50 mins we were off the ride. Even though this is a short ride it’s always worth the wait! Chris and I seriously scream the whole ride and sing loud as we can because it’s just such an adrenaline pumping ride!

358.jpg

We still had some time before we could use our ToT FPs (I want to say like half an hour more) so since we hadn’t eaten anything yet we decided to walk down to Starring Rolls for some eats. It was around 10:20 now and we didn’t want to eat too much since we had lunch ressies at 50’s Prime Time Café later. I had Chris grab us a seat (the only one left and it was right in the sun!) while I went inside and got us something I’d been SERIOUSLY craving…a cinnamon bun! I totally had a picture of it and idk where it is! I have it on my computer but it didn’t upload to photobucket  Anyway , it was amazingly delicious and the CM who rang me up gave me the 2 bottles of water I was going to buy for free because I had my birthday button on! Pixie dust and it wasn’t even noon!

We finished eating and still had time to spare so we walked back up Hollywood Blvd. through the shops. I think these pictures are foreshadowing for later in the trip…

360.jpg

361.jpg

One day we will own…
362.jpg

I believe it was in this store that Chris saw a Jack Skellington mug he really liked but of course wouldn’t buy it for himself. I promised later in the trip I would be getting it for him! I did buy a villains mug here for Dawn and had it shipped back to the room. One of my favorite things about staying on Disney property!

Down to ToT we went!
363.jpg

364.jpg

There’s us in the back right…Chris had this new thing this trip to pretend to be sleeping in every ride picture lol

365.jpg

Cool mug!
367.jpg

I’d guess it was about 11 at this point. Where would we go next? When would we meet up with Tink’s family again?

Great updates, ladies! Sounds like your day got off to a fabulous start! I can't believe how interactive the characters were at H+V! I can't believe Chris just cut his way through the line lol-- too bad he was noticed!

Great updates!

Tink, I'm glad I'm not the only one that hates saying DHS! It's MGM. The name worked, no reason to change it right? The funny thing though, when I make itineraries that include more than just my family, I put DHS on and even they ask "What's that" and "Where's MGM?"

I love that pic of fiance and little guy. So Cute!

We've never eaten at Hollywood and Vine but I think that DS might really like meeting those characters. Besides, I think it would be really cool to be in MGM early. I loved being in MK early on our last trip to before our CP ressie.

Kristen, I cannot believe he cut people in line. That's too funny! Did you ever get FPs for TSM?

Oh, btw, Tower of Terror is my FAVORITE ride and DH loves RnRC so those are a must do for us as well. Really, he hates ToT and the only reason he goes on it is because I'll only go on RnRC if he comes with me (secretly, I love RnRC too but it's the only way I'll have a companion on ToT until DS is tall enough.)

That mug is so cute. I always buy a mug when I'm down there. I don't know why, I'm not a coffee drinker and I'm a dunkin donuts tea drinker but I do it anyway. Maybe I'll check that one out ;)

Looking forward to more updates from you both!

Great updates guys!

The pic of little guy with June is adorable..what a neat character encounter.

TSM looks like a lot of fun, and luckily you guys did not have to wait too too long.

Looking forward to more:goodvibes

Happy Halloween to you gals too! Great update, loved it!

Tink - Love your fave photo of FI and little guy. It almost looks like an "old fashioned" photo. Beyond cute. That's a definite framer.

We loved H&V too. It was our first character meal of the trip, and it was the best one we could have hoped for. The moment when DD met June, that made the whole trip worth it for me. I love all the dances they do and we can't wait to go back now that both Handy Manny are there and Oso.

Kristen - I love both ToT and RRC too. So much fun. But I think I loved ToT just a bit more. I just love the theming in there and the how the doors just open and then....whoosh! Love it!

Somewhere in that rope drop craziness we were standing, too! On the right-hand side no less. I studied the pictures to see, but I don't think you caught us! We headed straight for RnRC though -- not TSM!

We had such a great breakfast! The best characters ever!

Glad I'm the only one who still calls it MGM. haha

It is such a cute pic, isn't it!?!

I really do recommend H&V for anybody with little kids.

He was loving up all the characters that day.

Being there at rope drop definitely is nice!

Love it!

Happy Halloween to you too!

Thanks. I was so excited to share that pic!

I knew you'd agree with me about H&V! It was such a great way to start off the day.

Somewhere in that rope drop craziness we were standing, too! On the right-hand side no less. I studied the pictures to see, but I don't think you caught us! We headed straight for RnRC though -- not TSM!

Maybe you saw Uncle, Sis, Fiance, and Cuz and didn't even know it when you were at RnRC!

Little Mermaid is a hit with our bunch, too. You are right - it is a good length. Glad Little Guy enjoyed it and didn't get scared off by Ursula. She is pretty doggone big!

Those are such pretty tree lined streets.

Sometimes photobucket will skip over a picture or two of ours, too, for some unknown reason.

Two bottles of water on the house is nice. :thumbsup2
Those special buttons come in handy sometimes.

I took a picture of that same mug. I might have to get it for Drew one of these days. He uses all the Disney mugs and cups I bring him.

I remember being scared of Ursula when I was his age! I was glad he wasn't.

The buttons are magic! :wizard:

Aww the H&V breakfast looks adorable! I definitely will recommend that to my bf's cousin when he takes his little one to Disney in a few years, he just loves those shows.

That's a really cute pic of little guy and your fiance. They have such a sweet relationship :goodvibes
