You've Got a Friend in Me:TINKGURL & XOKTENOX's Adventures in WDW~UPDATE: 6/9 p.74

Wonderful night! Sounds like y'all were talking non stop. I know that feeling too when you just don't want your day to end but your body has other plans.

We did not want to leave each other yet! But we were all SO ready for bed by that point.

Looks like you all had a great night :goodvibes
I always try and make it as long as I can the first night/travel day but you gotta hit the wall sometime!!
 walking by you at MS....I will have to pay closer attention to the music....I can't hear it in my head right now!!
Mouse Gears is the perfect walk through when it is hot!! :thumbsup2
Oy to the taxes in NY...the whole state is ridiculous....people are constantly moving (mostly south) and business' really struggle to stay alive. I like it here and this is where my family is but... There is a large grocery chain...Wegmans that originated in Rochester...we have one here and it is such a busy store that I wish they would open another somewhere in the area....they are now in Jersey, PA, VA...I asked my neighbor who is a manger in another town if they ever talk of any plans in the area...response was that they will never build another store in NY because of the taxes.

Tracy

You'll have to listen to the music next time and you will think of Tink now haha

In the Long Island paper last week it listed the top 11 counties with the highest taxes in the nation...mine was #11! Nassau county was #2...it's ridiculous to live here!! My uncle lives in Rochester and my cousin lives in Endicott! Wegmans is a great supermarket!

What a fun night! That's so awesome everyone was getting along perfectly :goodvibes Little guy is just so adorable! that's so funny he and Chris kept teasing each other the whole trip :rotfl:

It was a great night! The boys got along so well!

sounds like a fabulous night at Epcot!!! Woo hoo for such a short wait for Soarin! Kristen, DH and I just had the taxes conversation last night! :scared1: It's truly appalling! Really! How can they expect people to live on the island!?

I love that you got so wrapped up in your conversation that you didn't notice the guys walking past you! :lmao::rotfl2:

Did you see the list of the nation's counties with the highest taxes in Newsday last week? Suffolk was #11! Nassau was #2! It's disgusting and a big part of the reason why I won't live here forever :(

Another great update! I had to copy this photo because as soon as I saw it I burst out laughing. That very same saying is my text message alert on my phone! I get a kick out of it every time I get a text message so to see the t-shirt just makes me smile :)

You guys had a GREAT first day. It's so awesome to see how quickly you all just became familiar and comfortable with one another. I know the two girls had been friends...but the guys meshed quickly too! :grouphug:

The shirt is so cute! Our first day was amazing together!

I just wanted to apologize from the both of us for being so busy! We know that our updates are not as often as some of you probably would like, but we're trying! We hope we haven't lost any readers because of this! :flower3:

Ugh you're so right, I've been so behind!!

Ahhh, such nice memories your TR is providing for me!! THANKS!

BTW, I think your updates are coming out just perfectly timed! You're doing great! :thumbsup2

Thanks Liesa!

So perfect that you guys got front row on Soarin! Sounds like the perfect night-- can't wait to hear about breakfast and your next day!!

Front row was great, just like our first day!

All caught up! I wasn't too far behind.

I love that Tink's grandmother was checking out the guys at the woo-au! :rotfl2: Good stuff!

Tink's grandma was hilarious haha

Wow, what a great end to your first day together!! I can't stop smiling!! You guys just add to the magic that is already Disney!

Thanks girlie!

As I continue my theme of catching up today....... 'TAG' you're next! :lmao:

I was pretty far behind... BUT HURRAY! You guys finally met up!

Kristen- Great pics from POP... I wish I was back there right now! :cool2:

You guys had a long day! I loved the pics from the Luau! It seems like the little guy was having a blast! I love his expressions!

You guys scored with that Soarin' wait! Not too bad 30min. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I've been catching up for the past hour now and I'm getting tired haha

I wish I was at Pop right now too! Or the luau would work as well!

I just started reading and I'm hooked! You guys are so adorable. It's so awesome that you're best friends and finally meet face to face at MK. I love it!
Reading your TR is making me even more excited for my Disneymoon in less than 5 days now!
I'm subscribing so I can keep up with all the fun!

Thanks for joining in!

It's been so great to be so close with Tink and then finally getting to meet her! Congrats on your Disneymoon!!

Just got caught up. Love all of the photos from the Luau. They are just so sweet. I love the format of the updates too. It's so great to see all of the pictures of you guys together and that everyone got along so well. The little guy is so cute! I love how he is always trying to be one of the big boys!

The luau was so great, glad you liked the pictures!

The little guy was so precious!

Aren't Kristen and Chris just so much fun?! I'm glad yall all had such a good time!

The Luau looks like a blast. Little Guy is so cute just watching in amazement. :goodvibes

Sounds like a perfect day all around!

Girl I love your new signature!!!

The luau was great, highly recommended!

I love that shirt! I've seen it in the past & I didn't buy it. Then I was mad at myself because I didn't think it would still be around the next time we are there. When I see it, I'm buying it (not sure if it will be for me or for Todd..)

Great timing on Soarin'. It's nice that Illuminations was going so that the line was short. I bet everyone flooded right over to M : S after the show got over. I was cracking up that they walked past you guys & you didn't see them. That is soooo something I would do!

One day I think I'll buy that shirt, whether it be for me or for Chris.

We were so lucky with the timing on Soarin'. The boys really tricked us haha

That is the shirt I brought back for Jarvis.

I am really enjoying hearing about the fun you guys had together. :goodvibes

So glad you're still reading along, MeMom!

Catching up on your trip report, I like that the two of you are writing it together. Little Guy is so cute! Thanks for the pictures of the Luau, I am planning to go when we are there in Feb and your pictures made it look like a great time. Can't wait to read more.

Melissa

Glad you're reading along! The luau is great, you'll love it!

Wonderful night! Sounds like y'all were talking non stop. I know that feeling too when you just don't want your day to end but your body has other plans.

We were totally talking non stop and didn't want to separate but we just needed some rest after such a long day!

July 21, 2010~

I woke up around 5:35 to get in the shower first. When I got out of the bathroom, I opened up the curtains all the way and everyone else started getting up. Like I said before, the sunrise was beautiful from our room! Just like the rest of the week, as we were getting ready, I got a text from Grandma saying that Little Guy was ready to come over to our room. So, Fiancé went over and brought him back to our room. I was so excited because today was our AK day and I had found such a cute Lion King shirt and plaid shorts to match. Dad, Little Guy, and Fiancé went out on the balcony with Dad and were checking out the ducks swimming around in the pool:

237-2.jpg

Once we were all ready, we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa’s room to get the rest of our group. We headed to the elevator and on the ride down to the lobby, I talked to Little Guy about where we were going. He was so excited to see the Lion King show he said. As we walked out to the bus stop, we talked about how we could not believe we were at a bus stop at 7 am- early for us! But, we wanted to try and get at least 1 thing done during the AM EMH from 8-9. There were maybe one or two other families sitting waiting for a bus too. Little Guy was too excited to sit, so he played around with Fiancé. We waited maybe 15 minutes and then an AK bus pulled up!

I had our wakeup call set for 6:15…the wakeup calls from WDW are seriously something I love so much. Nowhere else would I be HAPPY to be getting woken up at 6:15 lol but it was our first full day in Disney so I jumped up and got right in the shower. I get out and start getting Chris up because no matter where he is, he is not easy to wake up! We’re all ready and head out for a bus at 7:25 and as luck should have it, one was waiting there for us all ready to take us to Animal Kingdom!

156.jpg

The whole way there, Little Guy kept asking if we were there yet. I agree with him, it is a long ride to AK! haha. I texted Kristen when we were almost there to let her know where we were at since we were meeting up.

It only took us 7 minutes to get there according to my trip notes!

As we got off the bus, I checked the time and saw we still maybe 15-20 minutes before the opening show! Fiancé and I saw this for the first time in March, so I was so excited that Little Guy was going to see it.

Had to get a pic by the AK sign:

akdisney179.jpg

We made our way through the bag check and the finger scanning…

akdisney180.jpg

And then staked out a spot to wait for the show/rope drop. Kristen and Chris weren’t too far behind us and I told her where we were standing so they could find us. Of course, Little Guy was already on Fiancé’s shoulders so he made it easy for them to find us. Plus, it was easier for him to see the show that way.

This would be a recurring theme for the rest of the trip…even with way more people in their group, Tink and her family were always getting to places before Chris and I lol Luckily I don’t think we were ever late, they were just early! Walking into AK with a foggy lense…

159.jpg

160.jpg

If you notice, I had Chris and I wear our Yankees t-shirts this day so we were a little matchy matchy.

As I saw the jeep coming around the corner, I hurried and pointed it out to Little Guy that the show was starting. Here was his face the whole show:

Minnie, Mickey, and Pluto were getting ready to go on an adventure:

164.jpg

As soon as they left, it was time for rope drop! Fiancé, Kristen, Chris, and I were headed to EE while everyone else was taking their time to get back to Tusker House for our 8:30 am breakfast ADR. Since AK has a lot of walking, Grandma and Grandpa were extra tired at this park!

165.jpg

akdisney184.jpg

166.jpg

The tree of life! Oh how’d I’d missed it!

167.jpg

168.jpg

I was snapping pictures as we walked to EE. I love all the shops at AK.

175.jpg

Us 4 had parted ways at the Tree of Life and followed the herd to EE. I think we about got ran over a few times, so I held Kristen’s hand as we got closer so we wouldn’t get split up. As we were walking up to the line, the wait was only this:

238-2.jpg

10 minutes! We did good! We decided to see how long the wait really was…and all together- it was only 5! The most part was walking through the line. When we got to this part where everyone throws their change, we all tried to get it on this one little plate or something, we were close but never got it!

I think this is when Chris was telling me that if I got the coin on the plate we could come back next year, right? Or was that later in the trip? I don’t remember!

240-1.jpg

I just love the EE queue

177.jpg

178.jpg

We made the guys take a pic of us, and this is what we got:

241-2.jpg

We were both looking at our own cameras! LOL

We must have taken two because…

180.jpg

Much better!

Chris while waiting and making a weird face haha

181.jpg

As we were getting up to the loading area, I started getting really excited to be back riding EE again. It is such a fun ride! Of course, as we went up the steep incline, I made everyone turn around and look way out at the Contemporary and the MK. It’s crazy you can see that far! I had read about the Yeti being down on the DIS before our trip, so I was interested to see what it was doing while we were there. They just had it posed and strobe lights on it. That makes me so sad! The effects and movements it had made it look so real!

We clapped as we pulled into the unloading area. I could’ve rode it about 3 or 4 more times in a row if they would’ve let me! But, we had an ADR to get to!

I took this to catch the guys talking to each other behind me lol

182.jpg

So, we headed over to Africa to meet up with the rest of my family. When we got there, Dad and Kristen went up to get us all checked in. Little Guy was busy checking everything out:

akdisney185.jpg

184.jpg

183.jpg

185.jpg

186.jpg

Then, we had to go around and get in line to meet Donald. Little Guy kept asking me if “Kris and Chris” were going to sit with us. haha, So for the rest of the trip, they were “Kris and Chris”. I told him that they were going to be at the table right next to us, which made him happy. Before we knew it, it was our turn with Donald:

momdisney100.jpg

He wasn’t very interactive, just more of a “Hi” and pose for a picture. We said “Bye” to Donald and headed in to be seated.

As we were being seated, the waitress asked Tink’s family where they were from. They told her and then since we wanted to be seated together she asked us if we were from there too and of course we told her no, we were from NY. She looked at us kinda weird lol then I let our “big secret” out of how we met on a Disney fan site and were meeting in person for the first time this trip. I think she probably thought we were nuts!! haha

I love the scenery and themeing of TH, it’s amazing!

187.jpg

189.jpg

Our CM asked us if this was our first time eating at Tusker House, which it was, so she explained the buffet and what order the characters will be coming in. She was so nice. We were at a nice table in the corner of the restaurant right by the doors that go to the buffet! Perfect! Our waitress came and took our drink orders, then we could start getting our food. Again, I stayed with Little Guy just in case any characters came. This is how he sat most of the meal- watching for whoever he was going to meet next:

akdisney186.jpg

Here’s my first plate of DELICIOUS food…TH is SOOOO good!!

And #2

192.jpg

Goofy made his way over after meeting Kristen and Chris; and Little Guy and I got a big hug from him:

Then, Little Guy got down to pose in a pic with Cuz:

momdisney103.jpg

After he met Goofy and knew that the characters were going to Kristen and Chris’s table before ours, he had to run over to their table and get in all their pics. SORRY guys! haha

Meeting Mickey:

Meeting Daisy, which he was excited about since she was not at Chef Mickey’s:

Can you remember what was going on here, Kristen?:

akdisney187.jpg

I think the Little Guy sneak attacked Daisy from behind!

momdisney107.jpg

One of my favorite pics

Daisy was his favorite from this meal and he did not want her to leave his table:

momdisney109.jpg

As for the food and drinks, everything was so good! We will definitely be coming back to Tusker House. While we were finishing up, I noticed that Uncle had been gone for awhile. I asked where he was and he was over at the Safari getting us FP’s. The return time was for 9:27-10:27 am, so we were able to use those right after we were done eating! Too bad though- Uncle completely forgot to get Kristen and Chris FP’s too, so he felt bad. Hope there were no hard feelings!

No hard feelings! We were done at 9:40 and Chris and I walked over to the safari too to see if there was any chance we’d be able to ride it now without too long of a wait. The standby must have been kind of long because we grabbed FPs which were good at 10:12 so while Tink’s family went to ride the safari, Chris and I decided to walk the Pangani Trail to pass the time.

When we were all done eating, we said bye to Kristen and Chris and headed over to use our FP’s.

~Up next: More of our AK day

Thanks girl! It was great to get EE in first thing!!

Aw, glad you like the pics of Little Guy with the characters. I was even more excited than he was at some times for him to meet them.

Awesome updates guys!

Tusker House looks awesome..definitely one I'd love to do in the future.

Wow that's an early morning at Ak....but how awesome that you guys all got to see the opening show together.

Looking foward to more:goodvibes

I might have to wander back to TH just to check that great looking theming! Looks so pretty in there! Great update!

Next Sunday, we shall set out on our next adventure! :cool1:

I love all the shops at AK.

Me, too!

I remember thinking of you all the morning you had your Tusker House meal.

I like posed pictures, but I am a real fan of the random pictures, like where you are standing talking to your mom and sister as they are sitting on the wall. Pictures like that really take you back to that relatively unnoticeable moment, and you can just 'feel' what it was like at that point.

Ahh I love the Animal Kingdom. :goodvibes That's awesome you managed to sneak in EE before eating. Looks like you are having so much fun together.

Absolutely LOVE Tusker House! All of the pictures turned out great and you can just see how much Little Guy adored all of the characters!

Kristen & Chris - The matching Yankees shirts are too cute!

Tink - What monorail resort would you suggest with 2 young kids?

Tusker House was so good! We will be going back there for sure!

Yeah, it was early-but so worth it!

It is very pretty there Liesa!

Next Sunday, we shall set out on our next adventure! :cool1:

That is so exciting, you're so close!

I remember sending you lots of texts and pics the whole trip! :)

haha I didn't even know Kristen took that one!

Ahh I love the Animal Kingdom. :goodvibes That's awesome you managed to sneak in EE before eating. Looks like you are having so much fun together.

AK is beautiful!

We had SO much fun. It went by way too fast. :sad2:

Hm...obviously it's a toss-up between the Contemporary and the Poly. Both would be good either way. We just really like the Contemporary because of how close it is to the MK (our favorite park). We can just walk there in about 7-10 minutes. As you saw in pics, there is a great slide there and a quiet pool.

I loved this Animal Kingdom chapter. It looks like you did indeed have "a wild time" (like the sign out front says).

haha, Yes we did glennbo! :thumbsup2

**Kristen** I think it was when we rode EE later that Chris made the bet.

Yeah, I really like how close the Contemporary is to the Magic Kingdom.. that's the park that Jake & I spent the most time in last year and it's definitely our favorite BY FAR!

Would you think it'd be worth it to go for staying at the Contemporary and being close to the MK/Monorail or should we try and rent DVC points to stay at the Boardwalk or BC to be close to Epcot for Food & Wine.

A part of me is saying it'll be better to have that awesome access to the monorail with the kids...

Sorry! I just like hearing other people's opinions.

It looks like you did indeed have "a wild time" (like the sign out front says).

Hahahaha!! I laughed right out loud when I saw this

TH is a great place to have breakfast....did you enjoy the juice? It is the same that is served at Boma when I have been there...Mmmm

I wonder if the Yeti has been fixed at all...I will check him out in a few weeks and ask him what he has been up to ;)

Great pictures of the two of you in the EE queue :goodvibes

Tracy

LOL you can tell the Little Guy didn't want Daisy to leave! That last picture is too funny-- it's like if he hugs her hard enough, she won't be able to move!

I love AK mornings! Yours is off to such a great start :goodvibes

Tusker House looks really good. I keep hearing great things about their breakfast. Definitely have to try it one day! AWW Little Guy is so adorable with the characters! Love how he popped into "Kris and Chris' photos" LOL!

Don't be sorry! I like helping people out. :) Honestly, I think you would have a better time at the Contemporary. You're close to the MK, great pool, nice rooms, good QS, CHEF MICKEY's, you have 3 choices of transporation (monorail, bus, boat).

Hahahaha!! I laughed right out loud when I saw this

We loved the juice! Little Guy thought it was weird.

Let me know what the Yeti is like when you go!

Thanks, I like those pics too.

LOL you can tell the Little Guy didn't want Daisy to leave! That last picture is too funny-- it's like if he hugs her hard enough, she won't be able to move!

 We took the pic at the perfect moment! We had to explain to him that she had to go to other tables now. He was like, "Oooookayyyyy".
