You're Here BY YOURSELF? A Solo TR COMPLETED!

This is the great thing about having a park hopper on a solo trip, I think. Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom in one fell swoop. I have never eaten at Flame Tree Barbecue, and I would love to, everyone gives it such good reviews.

I do love that entry picture of the MK, I'm shocked you got one with no one in it and it looks so pretty. What a bummer about the flash photography on Pirates. I may be a Jack Sparrow fiend, but if you're not supposed to take flash photos, you're not supposed, savvy? Hope your migraine wasn't too bad.

I've had worse headaches. But I remember seeing the spots in front of my eyes and feeling that ache come on in the back of my head and between my eyes at the same time. It was terrible.

I love the park hopper with a solo trip--it's a great way to change things up quickly.

When / if I ever go solo, I know I'd want to have the park hopper option. I can't imagine staying in one park all day if it was just me. When I'm with family, that's totally doable, especially with kiddos, because everything takes so much longer, you know?

It gets a little boring by yourself staying in one park all day. Even something as interesting as DIsney needs a little variety.

The idea of hopping on the bus with 3 kids to go to the next park, though is awful in and of itself. I can't imagine having to do that. I'd first have to get everybody together to tell them what we are doing and then get them on the bus. It's easy to squeeze 1 more person on a bus, but not so easy to squeeze 5, kwim?

I agree. Plus, if you want to have breakfast in the Magic Kingdom and dinner in Epcot, kwim?

I can't imagine doing it with 3 kids. I know people do it successfully, but I understand how that would be difficult. Quite frankly, it's rare that we use a park hopper when we're on vacation with our son, and that's only one child! I think the only reasons we really have done that in the past for dining purposes. There are so many good places to eat though, that it's really not necessary.

Dining is a great reason for the park hoppers. Another reason for us with 5 is the cost--$270 for the five of us. I love going to breakfast in MK and taking the monorail to have dinner in EP, but to me, it's not worth an additional almost $300.

And I'm not cheap, just conservative.

OMG. I worship you for going alone. hehehe
What a treat not to have to compromise with anyone about where to stay, eat, ride, watch etc! That is something I'll maybe do someday.....although I can't see how atm.

I just found your trip report today, so I'll go back and start reading now.

It was an awesome trip and one day I hope to go alone again!

I did it I called and upgraded from POP to POFQ for my Sept/Oct trip! :cool1:

I am set to go as a solo, but there is still a chance my sister my join me and I will have to change that on the reservation. Won't know though until closer because it will depend on her job.

I am really excited about this trip, plus I have never stayed at POFQ, it just looks like I will fall in love with it though. Much more my style of resort, more on the quaint side.

POP and CBR have been really good, but I just think they are so much more for my family. This looks like a good grown up resort, even with the slide at the pool, it otherwise looks more grown up.

I love POFQ and my daughter and I are staying there in October. It's quaint, quiet, and really very fun. I think you will love it!

WHen I last left you all, I was nursing a migraine due to an inconsiderate person on POC. I returned to my room and slept well that night. By this time, I was also nursing another problem--a bruised and swollen ankle from all of the walking. I had picked up tape for my ankle earlier in the day the day before and taped it up. Not too tight, but tight enough, and got some ice before I retired for the night. I slept with an ice pack on that ankle while it was taped up. I was worried about leaving water all over the bed in the room, so I put a towel and one of those huge Ziploc bags under my ankle to protect it. I took 4 Advil and slept like a baby.

I tell you all this to let you know. . .by morning, I had a spring in my step. Quite enough to take the long way to breakfast. . .

Thinking of that water makes me long for it. It was heated and I was cold that morning. But I had rope drop at MGM, uh, Hollywood Studios.

Still walking through POFQ. . .

IMG_0489.jpg

I don't remember what time it was by the time breakfast was over. What I do remember is that I was the only one in line for the bus to Hollywood Studios.

We waited. And waited.

My ride to Hollywood Studios. . .

IMG_0501.jpg

Yep. My own bus.

All to myself.

For once, the bus did not leave POFQ to go pick up to POR. I had the bus to myself.

I was like 3rd in line at the turnstiles to Hollywood Studios.

The obligatory Christmas tree photo:

I listened to the tips on Ridemax (I won't tell you what that tip was, but you can buy Ridemax to get it) and stood where I should to get a jump on the crowds to Toy Story Mania.

Here we go!

IMG_0508.jpg

I realized here that the kids really do slow me down for this ride. In May, I'm running ahead and leaving everyone else behind, lol! :rotfl:

Just tell me how the stand by was already 40 min?

IMG_0512.jpg

I love this queue:

IMG_0514.jpg

IMG_0519.jpg

And it really wasn't 40 minutes--I was in line and finished in 13.

IMG_0533.jpg

And the distribution times by 9:13?

IMG_0536.jpg

It was by this time, I realized my sunglasses did not leave Toy Story Mania. I only paid $5 for them, so I went on to Keystone Clothiers to get another pair.

My thought was to ride this: but I thought my stomach was still too full. . .

IMG_0538.jpg

So I went onto:

IMG_0540.jpg

I have never ridden it. Ever. And what did I think of it? Well, my redneck picture should tell you. . .

IMG_0551.jpg

I'm in the back on the left. I. Loved. It. And I would have ridden again, had the single rider line not already been 60 minutes long.

By this time, it was already 10:30. I had not finished the World Showcase, and it was my last day. So, I bid adieu to Hollywood Studios to go to:

Coming up. . .are those really the wait times?

nice update!!! I love those pics of POFQ. I still love that resort since it's the first resort we ever stayed at when I was little. Those alligator looking guys in the middle..my brother and I always took a pic beside them for every stay. Now our "resort yearly pic" is the totem pole at WL lol.

That is so sweet! I am looking forward to taking the kids there in May for beignets and so they can see the resort. It's so pretty and quaint there!

I'll admit it. It was midday and I was whipped. After the mad dash to Toy Story Mania followed by the bus ride over to Epcot, I wanted lunch, a chance to finish the World Showcase, and a nap.

It still didn't change one fact: Epcot is a beautiful park!

IMG_0569-1.jpg

But by two days before Christmas, what exactly were the wait times like?

IMG_0614-1.jpg

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:
As much as I love Disney, it was becoming quite evident I had had enough of the huge Christmas crowds. Let me tell you from experience: I've to to Disney for Christmas week and 4th of July week. I'd take the heat of the 4th above Christmas week anytime! This was just absolutely mad!

I had lunch at the Cantina in Mexico. I still feel ill everytime I think of it. I would honestly prefer Taco Bell or the like. I hope with the rennovations, they also rennovate the food there. :rolleyes1

I then strolled through the countries I had missed earlier.

Well. . .I had to snap this photo in America. The tree was so pretty, IMO.

IMG_0585.jpg

This is my favorite spot in UK. I can just picture my kids in one of those phone booths, pretending to go to the Ministry of Magic.

IMG_0592.jpg

Of course, next stop was Canada, where the Santa was extremely funny. I stood and listened for a good amount of time.

IMG_0598.jpg

These gardens seriously make me want to visit Victoria Gardens in Canada.

IMG_0608.jpg

By this time, it was around 2:00. I knew I had not been spending much time in Epcot, but I needed a nap before dinner at Cape May. I rode the bus back to the room and slept. Well, for 30 minutes, anyway. A short nap is better than none.

Home sweet home:

Coming up Beach Club and Wilderness Lodge.

What a lovely resort POFQ is. I haven't been there in 4 years, and your pictures remind me of why I like it so much. It looks so peaceful for your early morning walk. Isn't it fun to have a bus to yourself? Almost naughty not having to wait for anyone! :lmao:

Sounds like you got off to a great start in the morning, but I will admit, I just read the wait times in Epcot to my husband. OH. My. Word! That is insane. I can't even fathom waiting over 2 hours for anything. Talk about killing a day! I've been so spoiled by going in September, haven't I?

I'd say that even for me, those wait times were insane.

I loved the peacfeulness of POFQ. I loved the bus by myself, but I almost felt guilty at the same time. It was like that was a lot of money spent for only me to ride the bus.

140 minutes for Test Track!? I don't think I've waited that long in all the times I've been on it combined!

Fantastic pictures of your resort. We're looking into POR or CBR for our next trip. It's still all up in the air.
