I told about my bra story earlier, but have a couple of ECV stories as well...
In 2007 we were taking a bus from then MGM to AK... Both my DM and I had rented ECVs and had gotten on the bus and were waiting for them to load other passengers. I don't really understand what was happening, but all the other people in line were not allowed on... the bus driver stopped and had a discussion with another driver... then got on the bus and informed us that it was just us! This was the 1st day of our trip (it seems like our 1st trip but we had been there 20 some odd years prior, but only MK was open then) and weren't really accustomed to the busses yet.. so I had stayed on my ECV instead of sitting in a regular seat. Big Mistake! The driver hadn't completely got it strapped down and as the bus turned a corner, the ECV tipped over with me on it! I was fortunate that I was able to catch myself before getting hurt, but it was kind of scary! I NEVER remain on my ECV since that happened! (Also this is the source of the tagline below)... by the way we have since decided that park hopping is NOT for us.
Last September, at DHS... we were going for our dinner ADRs at 50s Prime Time.. we noticed that the sky was darkening and knew it was going to rain. I had again rented an ECV but DM had since gotten her own electric WC. We rode them into the restaurant looking for a place to park them safely, and were informed that they had to be taken back outside and parked. I was worried about the forthcoming rain, but they insisted that should it start raining they would make sure they were covered. They also insisted that DM transfer from her chair as there was not enough room around our table. Needless to say, the sky opened up and cats and dogs filled the sky! We didn't really enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant (I was ok, but DM hated that the waiter at the next table kept yelling.. he even screamed so loud once that I jumped) and our waitress didn't pull any antics. So we weren't in the magical mood when we leave anyway, but I looked outside and completely lost it!!!! Oh yeah, they covered them!!!! My ECV the put a black trash bag over the tiller.... but left the seat completely uncovered.. it was drenched. I was so upset that it took me awhile to notice that they did worse with DM WC... they put another black trash bag over her seat... but nothing on the joystick controller!!!! As we left there in the pouring rain... I admit I was being a big baby, but I was crying....even sobbing! I just wanted to go some place dry for a few... so went to the entrance of The Great Movie Ride to wait for DM to catch up... a CM saw me crying and decided to cheer me up! As soon as DM arrived he took us inside a back entrance, that allowed us to get on the ride immediately... not that there was a long line anyway. As we were sitting on tram waiting to take off, I was still crying, but trying to stop.... was still so upset that I wasn't doing a great job. Another CM asked me if I was ok, I just said we were having a bad day... and he gives me a sticker to help cheer me up... imagine me a 39 year old woman throwing a tantrum like a 5 year old and someone gives me a sticker and it calms me down!!!!
Due to the rain on DMs WC she had power issues with it the rest of the week... to the point of it all but dying at Epcot a few days later.... another CM came to our rescue and let her chair charge at rental place and got her a ECV rental for the rest of the day free of charge. Also, got us a claim number for the original incident.... which was settled by Disney after our return home..
All in all, last septembers trip wasn't a great one, but I just love going to Disney!
