I've become obsessed with watching Tiny Homes videos. They aren't like the ones that first came out a decade ago where people were trying to squeeze themselves into a place the size of a backyard tool shed. They've come a long way. They are now really nice homes about the size of my apartment now. Yet, they have an area for a yard and some beautiful, enclosed patio areas which double their living space. During beautiful weather, I'd be spending all my retirement on the patio.
However, there are only a few Tiny Home residential parks around the U.S. as the regulations and zoning requirements are so strict. They aren't allowed in most places as a form of permanent residence.
There are a few, really nice Tiny Home communities up in Oregon where they are allowed. But, thinking about the winters up there, I think, "Nope! Can't do it." And up in Canada, there are more places that allow them. But, that's even further north and colder. So, a bigger No!
It never really bothered me. But currently I need to be outdoors for 1-2 hours twice a day, and the below normal cold weather requires a bundling up routine that is starting to get tiresome!
Moved from the cold of PA to central Florida ~20 years ago and never looked back. These past few days were just reminders how much I despise anything below 60 degrees.
