Your ULTIMATE SURVIVAL GUIDE to Disney World at Christmas Time! UPDATE x2 10/21

 your countdown calendar!!

 your pin collection binder!!

Your DL trip is just right around the corner! I cant wait to hear all about it when you get back. I will definately be joining that TR when you start :thumbsup2

What a busy summer! Good though, sitting around being bored isn't much fun.

Love the countdown calendar! And reusable, Great Idea!:thumbsup2

I'm really excited for your Cali trip and the TR after. We've been tossing around the DL idea here, and maybe 2014 might be a DL year!

Hey girl! I've just caught up on your trip report and I'm loving it.

My friend and I are taking a trip to WDW in Florida for a 3 days in August - we're on that college girl budget, so unfortunately we can't stay for long - and I just came back to the boards and am thrilled to see someone my age is posting a TR!! May I just say that every post I read of yours had me more thrilled for my vacation?!

Can't wait to hear more :)

If I can chime in on a place to eat at Disneyland....my absolutely favorite counter service is actually the White Water Snack place in the Grand Californian (my friends and I call it the Snack Shack). It is a pretty regular destination for us. The food is really good, reasonably priced, and they have tables outside that butt up against California Adventure, over in the Redwood section. It's like you're on a picnic in the park, or in the redwoods....one or the other, lol. It's so relaxing!! And, they have really good burgers and nachos. YUM!

Hi Jess, I've never been to Disneyland but I have been to LA (my BFF lives out there) and she takes me to In and Out Burger (of course) and Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. You gotta try it, here is a link http://www.roscoeschickenandwaffles.com/. Really good soul food and its basically been a Hollywood institution for decades. I have no idea about any of those restaurants in DL but they all sound delicious. Actually, I have heard of Napa Rose. There was a big article in the New York Time on Sunday about DL, Cars Land, and enjoying DLR as an adult. It mentioned Napa Rose as a fine dining option. Anyway, I'm so excited for you! You deserve it after working hard all summer. I can't believe you took 3 online courses! I took 1 online (sociology) and 1 in classroom (Art History). Its so nice getting credits so fast in the summer, isn't it! Look forward to your next update. -Amanda princess:

Hi there Jess! What a summer - you've kept busy! Your Disney inspired creations look like they rival the original dishes in WDW - Yum! ::yes::

Funny you are coming ot CA to go to Disneyland and I'm leaving CA by Disneyland to go to WDW (same time as Kristen) in 24 days!

Looks like you have some amazing dining plans at Disneyland. I have dined at all but the new Carthay Circle. That's on my list to try soon.

In honor of your upcoming trip... here's a sneek peak at some of my favorites from a couple of these place. :flower3:

Can you tell that I'm a fan of D-land food! :thumbsup2

Happy planning! :goodvibes

Re: real life update - Congratulations! 3 online classes and 3 A's - Good for you!!!! (you can tell I'm a Mom because that's the first thing I comment on)
Love all of your Disney food that you made - looks yummy! I love the Beach Boys too - hopefully I'll get to see them sometime.
VERY cute Beach Boys tee shirt!
I still need to see Brave - glad to see you still have drive in's in your area too.
Can't wait for your Disneyland TR!!!!!

I think the only change I would suggest for the DLR dining is maybe add dining from one of the places in Cars Land? I've heard mostly raves about Flo's V8 Cafe. And if the lines aren't too crazy at the Cozy Cones, I think you should get the Red's Apple Freeze - that seems to be the main crowd-pleaser from there.

I like your disney cups, plates and bowls. I need a pin folder to your pins are fab.

Uneventful summer, huh? I would like to know your definition of an eventful one. Glad to hear you did well on your online classes! Really spreading your horizons, I see. So jealous you are working at an Ice Cream place! I applied for one this summer about two weeks ago and haven't heard anything back. It's starting to frustrate me...

Glad to hear you enjoyed Brave! :thumbsup2 for Sweet Potato Fries, delish! And AT THE DRIVE-IN! It's been forever since I've been to the one right down the street from my house so reading this update makes me miss those summers when we did it weekly. Hopefully, I'll be seeing Spiderman there soon! Anyways, I gotta say Brave is a welcomed addition to the long list of Disney animated movies, very different and very funny, but I gotta agree I prefer Tangled.

Oooo... Beach Boys! Very cool! I love retro-band concerts and nothing can beat the unique sound of the Beach Boys. Glad to hear you all had a good time! So funny how your dad was really trying to get in on the action, reminds me of my dad. Love the shirt you got and that ice cream looks so good (Sprinkles <3)!

Love your pin binder! If we ever meet up in the World, we are definitely pin trading (sorta, kinda... REALLY want the Steamboat Willie Stitch pin!). Do you know how many pins you have? I feel as if I've failed now with my number of pins based on how you only showed us a few pages. O_o And your countdown looks great, Stitch as number one, good choice :thumbsup2

Wowzer, two jobs! Sounds like you are really saving up for more Disney trips! But it sounds like a lot of fun working at a camp with kids. Now, I understand what you were talking about on Twitter, too! Why is it you have all these awesome jobs? Not. Okay. ;) Mmmm... all those Disney signature dishes you made look so good. The Bread does actually look a lot like the real BREAD IMO (and this is coming from someone who has only seen it in pictures). OH, and a BIG :thumbsup2 to the Tangled plates!

Your reservation choices look good for California! I have never been so I don't know about any places in the SoCal or Anaheim area, but I'm sure if you look up restaurants in LA online (it's like a 15 minute drive from Anaheim I believe), I'm sure you'll fine some really cool famous places where you can also take time to see the sights around there (i.e. Graumans Chinese Theater, Hollywood Sign, Walk of Fame, etc.). This definitely is a well-deserved trip since you really sound like you have been working hard this summer. Can not wait to hear all about it! :mickeyjum

As usual, you and Kristen are the cutest of the cute. It sounds like an amazing summer! I love how hard you work. You deserve a break. :thumbsup2

Wow girl you have had a crazy summer!

I opted to take classes during all of the spring and summer sessions last year and I can honestly say that it's a great decision to make because it helps so much for getting extra credits out of the way, and way to go on all A's!!

Your jobs sound very tiring, but also very fun and a great way to spend your summer, I can't believe your trip is coming up so fast!

I'm so glad you included Goofy's, the Blue Bayou, and the Plaza Inn (at least I think that was in your plans) all three are some of my favorite disney restaurants ever!!

Can't wait to hear more :goodvibes

Congrats on getting all A’s in your online classes! Good job!

Glad you like Brave! I loved the whole mother/daughter thing too. I’ve seen it twice (so far…) and my mom cried both times at the end. I have to say I did tear up!

I LOVE your pin binders!

There are the food pictures again! Jess, you just made me really hungry!

We HAD the Pascal bowl. Sadly, it got dropped and cracked. :sad1:

Your Disneyland plans sound great :thumbsup2

It's on their secret menu and if you ask for your burger animal style it comes (from wikipedia): "Animal Style burgers include pickles, extra spread, grilled onions, and mustard fried onto each meat patty."

If you get it on your fries (my favorite), it has spread, cheese, and grilled onions. Super super yum! If you google it, there's pictures.

Also they have Neapolitan shakes (chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry swirl) that's not on their menu. Sooo goood. The In-N-Out menu is super small, so it's nice they have secret things like that.

So excited for you at Disneyland!

Wow, that's really fancy! I would have never known!
That Neapolitan shake sounds really tempting! I may need to try that one out!
I'm so excited too! I can't believe it's actually happening!

Okay I’m finally back from all my trips so I’m ready to catch up on your TR! I have missed a ton of updates, so prepare for a super long comment! I apologize in advance!

I'm so ready for this!! Don't apologize - I always love your comments!

Ahh wow that Yuletide Fantasy Tour just keeps getting better and better! The Holiday Services building sounds amazing, and all of the facts you shared are fascinating! Seriously, thank you! I felt like I was reading one of those really cool Disney fact books!

I'm so glad you enjoyed reading about it! Haha I felt like I was writing one when I wrote that update!

Awww oh my gosh those Christmas stories got me. I can totally see why you would tear up at that!

They were so beautiful!

I LOVE THAT PIN! That’s so cool that you got such a special keepsake!

Thank you! Yeah, I loved how they did that!

Oh the mysterious Tomorrowland Terrace Cafe! I’m so glad you got to eat there! That’s a good Disney Bucket List item!

So am I! It was NECESSARY! The food was good, too!

Haha you’re not kidding about those Christmas crowds. You have to laugh. It’s just so ridiculous!

Seriously, though! They're absolutely insane! They didn't ruin my trip one bit, though! I just managed to avoid them!

Where is your friend Ryan from? John and I talked to a super nice CM when we were in line for the Jungle Cruise on our trip, and I want to say his name was Ryan. He was from Erie, PA. I remember because I have family there, and we talked about how people call it “Dreary Erie: The Mistake by the Lake”. Haha anyway, I thought it might be him!

Hahaha I texted you about this earlier, but that is the same person! What a SMALL world! I took a couple pictures with him so you'll be able to put a face to the name later in the TR!

I love the Wishes dessert party so much! We’ve only done it once, but I desperately want to do it again! It’s so nice, especially during the holidays when you don’t have to worry about fighting those crazy crowds for a viewing spot!

I feel the same way! It really was such a treat. I'm glad we got to see the fireworks in the park without having to sit in those crowds. My Dad and brother would NOT have gone for that!

Your fishing excursion sounds fun! You guys caught a lot of big ones! I’m with your mom, though- I can’t actually stand to touch the fish haha!

It was great! Haha if it wasn't for my Dad, I would be scared of them too!

We have a place here like Teppan Edo too. It’s called Arigatos, and I LOVE IT! I can’t compare it to Teppan Edo, though, because I’ve never been there! We were eating at Tokyo Dining last summer, though, and they gave us the chocolate ginger cake as an anniversary dessert. It was so good!

Isn't that cake AMAZING!? That's the best part about Teppan Edo!

I still can’t believe I’ve never seen the Candlelight Processional all the way through! It really looks like a beautiful show!

Aww I guess you will have to make another trip to Disney to see it. DARN. lol

I GOT THE PLUTO PILLOW PET! I have slept with him every night since I got home! He’s so soft!!

Did you!?! I LOVE mine! I just equate my pluto pillow pet with my room with Bay Lake. GAHH I MISS IT!

You’re not kidding about the Voices of Liberty. Their voices are out of this world.

I KNOW.

Okay, now I’m all caught up and I just read your life update! It sounds like you’ve had a very productive summer! I love your homemade pin binders! Those are really cute! Also, all that food you made looks amazing! I have made the cheddar cheese soup at home a couple times and it came out great, and I made the macadamia nut pancakes from Kona! I love cooking Disney food!

Woohoo! Yes, productive is definitely the word to describe it! Thank you! Oooh I've never made the macadamia nut pancakes! Where did you get that recipe?

I’m so glad you get to see Preston soon! That’s great! I know how exciting that is! And your trip to DL is so close! YAY! Jess, I’m so happy your wait for all this awesome stuff is almost over!! I hope you have a blast! You’ve earned it!

ME TOO! I'm so excited! And YAYAYAYAY DISNEYLAND! Me too... I have been working hard and it's finally almost time! I'm sure I will! Thanks Joni!

 your countdown calendar!!

 your pin collection binder!!

Your DL trip is just right around the corner! I cant wait to hear all about it when you get back. I will definately be joining that TR when you start

Thank you so much!
I can't wait! That'll be a really fun TR to write!

I know! Yeah, it would have dragged really bad if I had nothing to do! I'm glad I kept myself busy!
Haha aww thanks! That sounds like an awesome idea! Maybe my TR will help do a little convincing! :thumbsup2

Hey girl! I've just caught up on your trip report and I'm loving it.

Hello! Thank you so much!
Haha girl, I hear ya! Totally understandable. I hope you have an amazing trip! I'm glad that my TR is so helpful and that it is getting you excited for your trip! YAY!

I have heard that WWS is great! I was thinking that it would be a great place to stop if I needed a little snack when I was staying at Grand Californian! We will see!

Hi Jess, I've never been to Disneyland but I have been to LA (my BFF lives out there) and she takes me to In and Out Burger (of course) and Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. Mmm I may have to look into that! Thanks for the idea!
Yeah, I've heard that Napa Rose is Disneyland's California Grill type restaurant. So we saved it for the last night!
Thank you! I seriously can't wait! I honestly can't believe it either - that was CRAZY. But I'm glad I got so many credits done. It was SO worth it! Thank you!

Hi there Jess! What a summer - you've kept busy! Your Disney inspired creations look like they rival the original dishes in WDW - Yum! ::yes::

Yes, VERY busy! Thank you!

Funny you are coming ot CA to go to Disneyland and I'm leaving CA by Disneyland to go to WDW (same time as Kristen) in 24 days!

Hahaha that is too funny! It's so soon!

Looks like you have some amazing dining plans at Disneyland. I have dined at all but the new Carthay Circle. That's on my list to try soon.

THANK YOU FOR THE FOOD PICTURES!!! Those are awesome. I am dining at most of those places and I can't wait to try everything!
Thank you!

Thanks! It was all delicious! And I LOVE the Beach Boys. I hope they come back!
Thanks!
Yes you do! And yes, we're very lucky!
Thank you! I gotta finish up this one first!!

Yeah, I was looking at the menus there and maybe it'll be a place for a snack. Thanks for the suggestions!

I like your disney cups, plates and bowls. I need a pin folder to your pins are fab.

Thank you so much! Yeah, the pin binders seemed like the perfect idea for my collection!

Hahaha I mean "uneventful" in the fact that all I've been doing is schoolwork and work. Uneventful... but productive!
Thank you! Yeah, I had to take all of those classes for my general core curriculum. Aww I think you applied too late in the summer! Next year you need to apply in like.. April, May, or June! After July 4th the season starts winding down.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Brave! :thumbsup2 for Sweet Potato Fries, delish! And AT THE DRIVE-IN! It's been forever since I've been to the one right down the street from my house so reading this update makes me miss those summers when we did it weekly. So funny how your dad was really trying to get in on the action, reminds me of my dad. Love the shirt you got and that ice cream looks so good (Sprinkles <3)!

The Beach Boys are timeless... I love them so much! Thank you. I love my Dad (and so does Kristen) so he was a great addition to our little group! Thanks!

Hahaha unfortunately, any pin in my binder is not for trade! I bought that stitch one back when I was 13! I actually don't know how many I have. I meant to count but I never got around to it. Thank you! Actually Mickey is #1!

That's exactly why I have two jobs - DISNEY! Hahaha yeah my jobs are both really fun. I made sure to do some research and apply early! Thank you! It was just too dense! I NEED TO GO BACK TO KONA!

Thank you! Yeah I'm sure we will find places. My cousins live out there so they will more than likely have great recommendations. I'm SO excited! I can't wait!

I am SO enjoying the TR. Hope to see another soon!

Thank you so much! The Disneyland one will be started once this one is finished! (we still have a ways to go!) And we have our other Frump report from May in the works right now! Just check my signature! :)

As usual, you and Kristen are the cutest of the cute. It sounds like an amazing summer! I love how hard you work. You deserve a break. :thumbsup2

Aww thanks Lia! You're too sweet

Epcot fireworks for Xmas, don't miss!

Absolutely!

Yeah I have!
I know, it is SUCH a good decision! I'm so glad I got a lot of those credits out of the way! I never would have been able to finish on time if I didn't!
Yes, my job is pretty fun! I am SO excited for my trip!!
I actually added Goofy's in late... so I hope I enjoy it as much as you do! I have read great things!
Thank you!

Aww I'm so jealous of your Disneyland plans. Can't wait to hear about it!

Thank you!

Thank you!
Hahaha I have seen it twice too. It is really touching!
Thank you!
Hahaha food pictures are kind of my thing
NOOOOO :( You should order a new one!
Thanks!

After 3 days....I'm finally caught up on your TR!!! I'm loving your Christmas Trips! The last time I was at Disney during Christmas was in like 2003!! My favorite part of Christmas at Disney - Candlelight Processional and Osborn Family Lights! I CANNOT wait to share those with my kids. However, they are young (6 and 2) so I want to wait to go during Christmas when they're older and can truly appreciate the beauty of Christmas at Disney!!

Oh...and I LOVED your pics of Beach Club! We are staying there for the first time in 2 weeks!! I cannot wait!

Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip....or trips!!!

Ah, yeah I think that word does work better. In that case, your summer has been a whole lot more productive than mine.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I applied for two jobs early on in April and May, both lifeguarding positions since I still had a certification that hadn't been used at that point. Flunked the interview of one and the other, I never heard back from the lady so there was really no hope there. I had two applications then for two ice cream places, but I waited out for another interview and never got it, sent out that application, but yeah, much too late. Hopefully this bad luck has run out and I'll be able to get a job for this coming year so I can pay for a car (and possibly part of a future Disney trip).

Hahaha unfortunately, any pin in my binder is not for trade! I bought that stitch one back when I was 13! I actually don't know how many I have. I meant to count but I never got around to it. Thank you! Actually Mickey is #1!

Awwww, now I feel bad for even asking about it. I just may have to look out for that pin now though, I really do need some more Stitch pins along with Pluto ones, Sorcerer Mickey ones... I just need lots of pins. Probably will have to do the whole ebay thing when we start planning my next trip.

Oooops, I meant Mickey! I had Stitch on the brain, saw Mickey, but wrote Stitch instead. Oh, my brain, how you work in such mysterious ways!

That's exactly why I have two jobs - DISNEY! Hahaha yeah my jobs are both really fun. I made sure to do some research and apply early! Thank you! It was just too dense! I NEED TO GO BACK TO KONA!

Exactly what I'm hoping my jobs will help with. Disney and I have been apart for FAR too long. I mean, I really need to try this BREAD you always speak of. *crosses fingers for 2013 SoCal/Disneyland Trip*
