Your top 10 tips for planning a trip?

1. Stay onsite, but don't blow your budget to stay somewhere you can't afford; the monorail isn't all it's cracked up to be; the Contemporary and the value resorts share many of the same benefits.

2. Use Disney's transportation, and don't complain if you wait five minutes for the next bus -- you'd spend much more than that walking to your car, driving to the park, finding a parking space . . .

3. Plan one big sit-down meal per day, the supplement with snacks and counter-service meals; make your reservations as soon as possible.
Take advantage of Disney's uniquely themed restaurants -- you can eat at TGIFriday's or the Olive Garden at home!

4. Plan a down-day mid-week, or you'll burn out before your vacation's over.

5. Take advantage of early entry days, then switch to another park mid-day when that park becomes crowded. If you're not going to arrive until 3:00 in the afternoon, don't pay for a park hopper for your arrival day -- that's money wasted! Disney has plenty of things to do without spending a park hopper day.

6. Take advantage of E-ticket nights at the Magic Kingdom. They are the best!

7. Make a "plan of attack" for each day's park visits, but don't be afraid to vary the plan when necessary.

8. Visit when the park has long hours (summer!) so that you can take a lengthy mid-day break and still have plenty of cool, evening hours in the parks. This requires planning, but is much better than off-season.

9. Skip the overpriced "free refill" soda mugs; you can't drink $10 worth of soda in a week, and even if you could, you shouldn't. Instead, bring your own sodas from home. Your whole family can drink sodas all week for $10, and you won't have to wash or tote the mug.

10. Take plenty of pictures!

Plan well in advance
Stay Onsite and take advantage of Disney transportation

Overpack just a little for emergencies
Take lots of memory or film
Plan your Dining in advance and make reservations
Pack a hefty first-aid kit
Drink plenty of water, regardless of season

Don't stress about sticking to a schedule - just have a great time.

1. book onsite but book what you can afford... do not expect any deals. If you get one great if not you will still have a good time

2. book any must have dining reservations ASAP (6 months out)

3. Drink lots of water.

4. If you have kids... plan some down time even if it is just letting the play in a playground or water area

5. Drink plenty of water... this is true at any time of year. In the winter months you can still dehydrate and not know it.

6. COmfortable walking shoes that are broken in before the trip

Lot's of good advice so far - here's one of my favorite: Don't try to do EVERYTHING!
Our first visit with 4yo we visited only MK and EPCOT.

(also ... stay on-site) :wizard:

Ok, maybe not 10 but here we go...

1) Buy a couple of the 99 cent ponchos at Walmart

2) If you have a digital camera take lots of pics...you can always edit out the ones you don't want at home but you cannot go back and take more..

3) Take a backup watch, mine broke last trip first thing..that was a pain

4) Take a backpack for all the stuff..and put your name address and cell phone number in all your stuff..backpack, camera case, strollers, etc...if they get lost they may find there way back.

5) Call and double check that you are on the Magical Express list so even if you do not get luggage tags they will take you to WDW

6) If you are just doing Disney do not rent a car..with Magical Express and Disney Transportation makes no sense.

7)Put an extra dufflebag in your suitcase, put the dirty clothes in the dufflebag and the souveniers in the suitcase.

8) If you like a beer when you get back from the park ( at least at Pop Century) 16oz bottle $5....6 pack of 12oz cans $11...you do the math

9) If you are particular about the taste of your water, take some of those single serving Koolaids...even Propel has some now that are not as sweet.

10) As you walk around watch and listen to the people...it is truely a worldwide mixture...

Ok Ok..it ended up being 10 after all...and # 11 ENJOY!!!

1. Stay onsite
2. Book early, even if the discount is not out yet keep checking because you can modify your reservation if a discount does come out
3. Use the WDW transportation for everything
4. Book ADR's as soon as possible
5. Take advantage of the lockers available to rent
6. Rent a double stroller, it is not much more than a single and my niece loved to lay down and nap
7. Share foods at CS and snack stands. The portions are large and that way you can get to try alot of different stuff
8. Start your day early with a reservation at a park breakfast. It is nice to get in the park before everyone else.
9. Take a break in the afternoon and go back to the resort and relax.
10. Ask CM's to take pictures with your digital camera, they will gladly do it. We did buy a few photo pass pictures but the ones that came from my camera were nice too.

Here are mine;

1. Stay on site.
2. Have a game plan (which park on which day).
3. Call my kids doctor to take along whatever medicines they take on a daily basis.
4. Make sure all ADR's are made prior to leaving.
5. At least 2 of the ADR's are character meals.
6. Pack a box of snacks, water, laundry detergent, bagels, and dry cereal ship to hotel 1-2 days prior to leaving.
7. Make sure we have the proper money allocated for spending.
8. Make sure everyone has well made supportive shoes.
9. Pack enough batteries for the Digital Camera
10. Have the best time of our lives!! :thumbsup2
