I do wet the toothbrush but I do it after I put on the toothpaste not before. So I'm an other.

I wet it first, in a sort of attempt to rinse it off before putting toothpaste on it and putting it into my mouth.

I should mention that I have a Sonic electric toothbrush - there's no need to rinse it off first because they have a cover that goes over the bristles - but even when I used a regular toothbrush - I put the toothpaste on first - then wet...

Another toothpaste first then water.

Have to laugh at some reasons though. Exactly how does water soften plastic bristles? Heat softens plastic, not water (disclaimer: 22 year manufacturer of plastics here... :D)

I've brushed teeth without wetting my brush (when camping) and I don't like it as it doesn't lather up well. I never knew there were people who might do it by choice. I always wet my brush before adding toothpaste - for the simple reason that it is easier than worrying about toothpaste getting washed off.

For those that voted "Other".... I'm puzzled.

The question is
"Do You Wet Your Toothbrush Before Squeezing On The Toothpaste?"

I wet after adding toothpaste so I'm an other. It seems to me the the choices are wet before or don't wet at all.

I wet, toothpaste, wet again. It may be a silly argument but I have actually had it before.

I added a poll with "Other" as a choice. :)

That is what I have, a Soniccare, and that cover is the REASON I always rinse off my toothbrush before using it. Mold spores and bacteria growing under that cover.....uck!

Hmm - never thought of that - interesting point..

I had always wet by brush thinking tougher bristled brushes would soften them a little. Turns out that's sort of true. I read somewhere the reason you wet a toothbrush before every use has to do with the water drying from the previous use. It stiffens the brush. Wetting them, softens it again.

I'm in the toothpaste then water camp - but warm water only. I figure I wash my dishes, most of my clothing and my body with warm water, my teeth should be cleaned the same way.
