It seems so silly to be posting to people I don't know about what I'll be doing on vacation but it's also kind of fun. I guess it also fuels everyone's imaginations for their own trips, be it in the near future or some distant unset date a long time from now....

Anyway.
So there are 5 people going on this trip. We're pretty much having a mixed up vacation. We've booked AKL for 2 nights, but we're spending the rest of our time at UNIVERSAL and DISCOVERY COVE. While we're at AKL we have planned absolutely no theme parks. We figured AKL seems to be an attraction unto itself, and for the price we may as well spend our time checking the place out. After our time there we're switching to a cheaper hotel near Universal where we'll be busying ourselves with rides and marine life...

On this trip is me (20y,o) , my boyfriend (20y,o) my mother and father(50,yo) and my grandma (65y/o)

We will be arriving at AKL around noon after having lunch on the way. I've arranged PS for BOMA that night @ 7PM. I figure we'll be having a fun time exploring the hotel that day and we won't really want to leave.

The 2nd day I've booked and pre-paid a spa experience for my boyfriend at the grand florifian at 1130, and (shhh, don't tell my grandma) I have PS for 2:00 at the grand floridian for me and her to have Afternoon Tea.

QUESTION: I wanted to order a bottle of wine with cheese and crackers (I checked the room service menu at AKL) for my mom and dad since I'm out treating my grandma to tea and my boyfriend to the spa.) I'm 20. Since we are in seperate rooms, is it possible for me to have them send the wine to their room, though I will be paying for it? Will age have a factor? (Since I know in the U.S. I'm underage to purchase alcohol...I'm from Canada so it feels weird asking this since here I've been allowed to drink since 18.)

Alright. Moving on. That same day I've made reservations at OHANA for 730PM. I figure we'll enjoy a nice meal there then stroll on the beach and watch the electric water pageant and the MK fireworks. QUESTIONWhat time are they at? (That date is MAY 31st)

The next morning, is the morning we are leaving so I booked a character breakfast at cape May for 930AM...No matter how old you are those pictures of a disney character stealing your mashed potatoes last a lifetime.

Okay. Sorry, I know that was long. So, do you guys think that is okay? Anything you might suggest I change? I was wondering from AKL what I should expect for travel time to the GF and the BC. I'm assuming for GF I take the bus to ticket and transportation center, then the monorail to either OHANA or AFTERNOON TEA.... How long should the transportation take? ALSO, for CAPE MAY...how do I get there from AKL... I don't think they have a bus going from resort to resort...so what would be the quickest route and how long would that transport take?

Oh my. I am asking so many questions. Oh well, may as well ask another one. Does anyone know the times of all the different things going on at AKL, like the art tour and the night vision goggles?

THANKS SO MUCH FOR READING MY EXTREMELY LONG SUMARRY AND QUESTIONS. I think I should post this on the resort board too since a lot of this isn't food related...

Okay... let's see what I can help with...

You will absolutely LOVE the AKL. It's our favorite resort anywhere!!! Do you have savannah view rooms.. if so.. you can spend hours on the balcony.

I don't think the wine will be an issue. I think they only check id's when the wine is delivered. You can call AKL guest services and double check.

May 31st Spectro is at 8:45 and the fireworks are at 9:30.

There is no resort to resort buses so you will have to take a bus to the MK and jump on the monorail to the GF... I would leave about an hour before you need to be there. I am not sure how far it is to the BC but unless you have a car, you will probably need to jump on a bus to one of the parks and then take a bus from that park to the resort.

Hope this helps and have a great time!!!!

Bus to MK, then boat to GF. :) Otherwise you have to ride all the way around the loop to get to the GF. Contemp, TTC, poly, then, finally, you reach the GF. The boat is faster. For the Polynesian it doesn't matter as much, but you can take the boat there too.

Sounds like a great plan! Have fun! :)

There's a boat? Are we talking about the ferry to magic kingdom or some other magical boat I for some reason have no clue about?!

Thank you so much for your HELP!

There is certainly a boat to the GF from Mk. We've enjoyed it many, many times over the years. They are small launches not the big ferries that go to the TTC. Just walk down to the docks at the MK and look for the signs for GF and the Polynesian or ask a cast member. It is the fastest and most pleasant way to the GF from the MK.

I think you might have trouble paying for the wine at AKL? As someone suggested, try calling ahead. Perhaps your Grandmother could pay for it and you could pay her. What lovely surprises you have planned!

Your AKL trip sounds wonderful!! I love all your special surprises for everyone - they will be thrilled!! AKL is definetly a resort you can enjoy w/o doing the parks - all the animal viewing is cool. Their pool area is great too. We spent every afternoon hanging out there. Boma is a terrific buffet, soooo yummy!

As others have said about transportation you will have to take multiple forms so be sure to leave early!!!!

Enoy!

Hi,

Your trip sounds great! I'm sure everyone will enjoy AKL and the meals you have picked.

I would also recommend Boma at AKL for a good Breakfast or Dinner.

I wanted to mention about the Universal part of your trip... are you staying in one of the onsite hotels? Front of the Line access is INCREDIBLE at the parks if you are a Universal resort guest - it is like the eternal Fast Pass with a VIP twist.

Also I loved Discovery COve and had a great day there.. the included lunch was really good too.

Have fun and enjoy your holiday - won't be long now

>>^..^<<

There is a motor launch from the MK that goes to the GF, then the Polynesian, then back to MK. You wouldn't need to know about it unless you had stayed at either resort.

We have found the monorail to be very slow at times, because it only goes in 1 direction. From the GF, the MK is the first stop, but on the way back, it's the last stop & the trip can take a while.

But there certainly is a boat! :)

This is fun too - Transportation Wizard

Thank you so much for all your advice and encouragements... I'm looking even more forward to my trip than before and I'll be sure to write back about my experiences...

Just a tip for universal and IOA......bring as little as possible with you to the parks.....they make you stow your stuff in lockers on almost every ride. We spent more time getting our stuff in and out of lockers than on the rides
