We're doing the deluxe dining plan and I've already made almost all our adr's. My goal was to do 2 TS meals a day mostly breakfast and dinner then for lunch CS (something light). I have 2 nights left where I need something but just cant choose. I'm really interested in Jiko for one of those nights. My biggest fear...we're going to eat ourselves sick:rotfl:

My family, including our 14 y.o. DS, loves Jiko. We have been twice, most recently this past October. I wish I could say we have been more. One thing I really love about this restaurant, aside from the fantastic food, is the service. They really have service down...it is attentive yet unobtrusive and for some reason, they just make you feel relaxed here.

The food? It is consistently good. The flatbreads are very good and both the BBQ chicken and Kalamata olive are worth a try. They are famous for their filet with mac and cheese, which I have had. Although it was good, it was a very heavy meal and a bit salty for my taste. What I think they do really well here is seafood...fish or scallops. Since you are on the dining plan, and will be going for multiple courses, fish might be food for your main course so you aren't choking on food by the time dessert rolls around. For dessert, I love the pistachio creme brulee so much that I have refused to try anything else.

Oh, and the African wines are really great. A wine flight is a good option here, otherwise take the suggestion of your server as they are quite knowledgable about pairings.

We love love love Jiko! You honestly can't go wrong here. The atmosphere, food, and service are all fantastic! Enjoy! :D

It is so worth eating yourself sick:rotfl2: No but really there are some lighter options. I did the ddxp so I had a light app- salad or tuna then a meal (personal favs are the filet and chicken) and a light dessert like sorbet.

Thank you all for your replies! I didn't even think about the African wine, cant wait! Do you know if we can purchase a bottle to bring home? I'll def. call tomorrow and see if we can book it.

You know, dh was the one who wanted the deluxe, now he jokes about us coming home 20lbs heavier:lmao:

You'll love Jiko, it's a fantastic restaurant. The gift shop at AKL has some African wine for purchase but I'm not sure if you could get an unopened bottle from Jiko. If you like big red wines, try the chocolate block wine at Jiko, it's a gorgeous blended wine but quite expensive.

The menu looks amazing and not identical to what you can get at the other Disney restaurants. I'll have to go to the shop and take a look at the wine. Thanks so much for all the info!!!!

Jiko is my favorite place at WDW. Great food, service and wine list. You will love it.

I am so glad you all gave Jiko good reviews. We are dining there in December and am very excited. We loved Boma on our last trip and figured we would try Jiko now that we are doing the deluxe.

It's been a while since I was in Mara -- the AKL's food court and grocery; but they sold some of the wines there and will wrap them in a lot of baggies for you. They're just across the pool area from Jiko -- a nice short walk ...not far enough to cause a heart attack after a good meal. ;o)

Also, I think Boma may sell some of their bottled wines -- but I'm not sure if it's just for "on property" or not from there.

I made a ressie for our short stay in August at Jiko. They mentioned something about a shuttle for the restaurant, and I haven't heard about that before. I was also told about the dress code, which I had already figured on. I wonder how many ball caps end up in a disney bag under the table? :cool2:

You are going to love Jiko, it is our favorite WDW restaurant. We'll be there for the 4th time on the first day of our trip in October. Definitely try the wines.

I haven't heard anything about a shuttle bus for the restaurant, I'll have to see what I can find out about it.

I'm sure there are people going who don't know about the dress code. I was thinking of bringing a few dresses (not too dressy) along. I'm worried I'll be either under dressed or over dressed.

I'll def. be wondering around in search of wine! I now have a mission at the AKL!

Mara still sold bottles of wine last month. I think the gift shop might too or at least at one point.

Can't imagine what was meant by a shuttle unless the CM just meant the AKL bus from AK. It is a rather short ride.

Jiko is great. We enjoy the flatbreads and the filet and mac. Last month I ordered the BBQ short rib and have a new favorite...so tender and flavorful. Bon apetit.
