Your Teenager, her Friends and Traveling

How old is old enough for your daughter to travel with her boyfriend and other friends on a trip which would involve overnights?

when i was dating my ex boyfriend (we were 16)...we would go down to the beach overnight..but it was my grandmothers house and we slept in separate rooms...
my junior year of high school 3 friends and i (all girls) rented a house down the beach for a week..but again, one of the mothers came down every day as well...

im 19 now and am going away thursday for a week with just a friend....
i think it all depends on each teen

My parents rule was no boys overnight without parental supervision. Then it was separate rooms.

I did take day trips with my BF to Chicago.

I've been married for 14 years and I think my dad STILL has a hard time letting me go overnight with a "boy".

Never allowed in my house. Not sure what I'll do as my DDs get older.

I really don't think I would allow it without some adult supervision. But you have to judge the situation, and your daughter.

I would say when they go to college. That's the way it worked for our family, and it seemed fine. My boyfriend and I spent spring break at Disney World together our sophomore year in college. Surely nobody on the DIS would have a problem with that . . .

I took my first "overnight" trip with my boyfriend to Disney when we were 19 (2 years ago...) and we had been dating for almost 4 years.

My boyfriend and I started going out when we were both 18 (I was almost 19). My parents loved him, and his parents also like me, so they both would have no problem with us going somewhere overnight. Our parents think we're old enough and both mature, it's just that we don't have the money to go anywhere. My sister and her boyfriend are another story. My sister is 17 and her boyfriend is almost 16. My parents do not trust him at all, and definitely not the 2 of them together. They're going to let him come down the shore with us this year, but only because they're going to be there too. So I think 18 is old enough, but it also depends on the person.

I went away with just girlfriends when I was 17. It was spring break to Bermuda. I think going with a boyfriend would have been safer, LOL!
My first weekend away with a BF and others was at 18.
I turned out ok.

Ok, when I was in College I did go to Boston, and then VA Beach with my then boyfriend. I was 19 then.

I would say old enough is when they go to college. At college they have to make their own decisions anyway and if they stay at a dorm in college, who's to say that it won't happen anyway.

totally agree.

But - outside of college - I didn't take my first real "trip" with my boyfriend until I was 22...and it was to Disney. heheh

and it felt WEIRD at first...

Once I was in college that was it. It was kind of "official" then.

If you do it when they are in high school (for some of us) (ok me) I would have taken advantage of it. So base it on your kid and make sure she is on birth control (in my case it would have been a good idea).

I'm old school, probably not the best guy to ask. Well, I guess that depends what side of the fence you are coming from. What happens and what I think is correct, are two different things.

To allow a child? When they are engaged or married...(or very serious relationships)

To be "ok" with your child doing that? Once they get to college....(again seriouse relationships.)
