I was creeping on the other DIS boards and came across this thread.

And so DISers... what's your Shameful Disney Secret?

Mine:

I cannot stand IASW!

Your turn!

:lmao: I can only do IASW once in a blue moon!! My really dark secret is that I can't stand DCA. Ive been there all of 3 times. EVER.
I think its boring and way to spread out and missing an actual park. Ahhh good to get off my chest!:rotfl2: Oh and the TIKI ROOM song makes me want to blow my head off!! In the TIKI ROOM, .... after I shoot all the birds. I know I never say things so graphic especially here but OMG!! the TIKI ROOM, makes me seriously INSANE!!

I actually missed out on the TIKI ROOM... I don't think I want to go now!!! :rotfl:

I do not like Haunted Mansion and can skip Fantasmic. I do not understand penny press mania and think they are a waste of space. My secret indulgence is criss cross fries at taste pilot grill.

Well.....hmmmm.....well, I will churn out a few....I am bored to tears with Honey I Shrunk the Audience, and could do without ever having to see that again...I also find It's Tough to Be a Bug very alarming and unsettling and can do without ever seeing that again!...I do like the Haunted Mansion in general, but must admit that I had gotten a little bored with it and disinterested in the original version and now prefer to see it in its holiday overlay form...The only thing that gets me on IASW now is if there is something differennt, i.e., the beautiful holiday overlay and the new Disney character doll additions. Otherwise, I can skip it...I can also skip Jungle Cruise. While I like the idea of Jungle Cruise, to me it seems like the skippers' jokes have gotten even LESS funny over the years and I can't tolerate it. I cannot even force a fake laugh now...I have skipped the Tiki Room on the last several DLR trips.

Oh, and I have to sort of agree with Corpsebride about DCA. I can totally see her points about DCA. I was opposed to the idea of a California-themed park in California. I thought that was ridiculous. It took me a while to get used to DCA and find things to love about it. As a park in general, they could have done so much more with it to begin with, but without making it a carbon copy of Disneyland. It has a very bland, colorless feel to me overall, just walking around, like it really needs a massive infusion of Disney magic. On the other hand, DCA has now grown on me - largely due to the fact that I LOVE Toy Story Midway Mania, I LOVE Monsters Inc. and I LOVE Soarin'. Now it is mandatory I go into DCA on every trip because I cannot miss those rides - especially TSMM (which is now my favorite or one of my favorites in all of DLR)!! Also, DCA has some areas that are exceptional in Disney magic and detail - such as the Animation Building and A Bug's Land. Those are great. Even the waterfalls by Grizzy Peak/Grizzly River Run are beautiful. So there are certain spots in and elements of DCA that are great, but it feels like a lot of filler in between. It still needs to change somehow, I think. There is just something that is not connecting or flowing properly in DCA, and I HOPE the new changes over the next few years will help make it more magical overall

Hm. Well, I guess my shameful secret is that I've only ever really been on two rides: POTC and HM. I hate most amusement parks, actually, because the rides don't do anything for me. Never been on Splash Mountain or anything else really. And for a second "secret", I don't really get DCA either. I think I spent a half hour there in 2006 and then completely skipped over it when I went in 2007. I'm not really looking forward to hitting up that side when I go with my friend at the end of the month. I just want to see Aladdin and that's it.

I don't mind skipping over the fireworks and Fantasmic. They aren't a big deal to me. And I won't miss the current firework show when it leaves because I don't really know what it is. And I hate the way these shows clog up all the walkways at night.

That said, we are going to make a point of watching fireworks and Fanstamic this summer. We have a week, so I figure I can spare some hours to watch them. :rotfl:

My other secret is that I DO like DCA. I can't wait for these changes they are doing, but I actually liked it anyway. Sometimes I think I'm the only one. I like having a park about California highlighting all the good things. :)

This is me, too! I'll even add in parades. I hate the "events" that clog everything up. I love being able to stroll down Main St. at night or wander through NOS without having to follow a little trail of waving light wands. I'd rather battle longer ride lines, since I know how to use FP ;)

I'm also not a fan of NBC. It ruins the HM experience for me.

I'm a little creeped out if characters approach me unless I can see their real faces.

The jokes in the Tiki Room make me cringe, even though the guy who wrote the script is my friend's dad.

I cant stand Autopia, its the only thing in the park I dislike a lot. Also I was disappointed with Nemo which is sad because I was looking forward to it.

I dont like parades or fireworks.....I have no interest in Fantasmic and am floored at the idea of spending $55 per person to sit in a special seat and eat desserts...I dont get it, but I do love that everyone else loves it, gives me a chance to get on my fave rides with no wait time! woohoo!

This is my secret too. (PinkBudgie, it must be in our genes I guess) I don't like having to battle my way through the crowds that have stopped to watch whatever show is happening. I wouldn't mind watching the shows sometimes but to me it's not worth having to save a place for so long in order to get a good spot.

My other secret, which is probably safer to confess on the DLR boards than it would be on the WDW boards, is that I actually liked the new version of the Tiki room they had at WDW (which I think is gone now? I'm not sure). I'm not suggesting they should change the one at DLR but I thought the one at WDW was good. They kept some of the old songs so you still felt like you were in the Tiki room but it was updated and not as cheesy as the original. I do actually like the original one but the jokes and the sing-along seem very 1950s (for obvious reasons), but I guess that's part of it's charm.

My secret is that I think the Mark Twain is a waste of time. I would skip it if they kids would let me :sad2:

Since many of you are coming clean about the fireworks and Fantasmic/shows....I will throw my two cents in about that too! I was reluctant to do it in my first post above, because I was afraid people would say, "Well, is there anything you DO like about Disneyland??":lmao: :lmao: I didn't want to list too many things at once! But now that you mention it, the only thing I do love about the fireworks at DL is that the lines for rides are super short when they are happening and I can get on POTC 3 times in a row with no wait! Otherwise, I only care about fireworks if they are accidental - like when I stayed in the GCH and had a DTD view room back in 2001 and suddenly we had a fireworks show from the balcony! That was a nice, unexpected treat! But I have NO desire to be down on Main Street or any other congested area of DL, squished in the crowd, craning my neck to watch (LOUD) fireworks. I would never make a point of trying to see them. I have seen Fantasmic before, and, while the effects are cool and I liked it, and it is good to see one time, I don't need to see it again.

The only reason I was interested in seeing the light show in December is because it extended from the Castle all the way up Main Street to the tree, and culminated in 'snow.' Something different to see. Otherwise, I would not be waiting in a crowd for some lights to come on!

Well, since we're adding more to our list LOL

I hate Bambi. So much so that I've never actually watched the entire movie. And Fantasia freaked me out!

I don't mind Autopia...it's the line that makes me ill! My son loves to drive so we have to do it at least once this trip. You can count if the wait time says 30 minutes it really means 50. We went STRAIGHT to that ride at gate drop to get it out of the way and we still had a 45 minute wait. Not a good thing to do on the morning of a MM. People were lined up to Nemo, they hadn't opened the autopia queue yet.

I also DESPISE the abnoxious adults that push their kids up to the characters not paying a bit of attention to the line that has formed to the right. What does that teach the kids honestly? Yesterday there were two adults...early 20's that jumped in front of us to see Pluto after the CM had just said he was leaving in a few minutes. I said something to my DBF about the line and the young guy said oh it's ok....I said no really it's not, you're jumping in front of kids. I felt really bad that the family behind us with two young kids missed out on seeing Pluto because he left right after seeing us. If they hadn't jumped in line, those waiting would have been able to see him too.

I'm also not a big fan of Fantasmic...we didn't do it until our last night there...and only did it because my son begged to see it, (again).

I do not do swing rides because of my weight and I freaked out on the Orange Stinger as I was not feeling safe and secure like on the Freefall ride at Magic Mountain and Tower of Terror.

BAMBI screamfest - I hate the bambis that dart in front of other people and scooters and wheelchair. Last night I drove my ECV into a wall of the shop to avoid a kid and mom was like fer sher yapping away and did not know that I was not the only person to avoid her Bambi

I hate the ice cream shops because the employees are too stupid to get it through their head that when they pound a ladle or scoop on a waffle cone then I cannot have any of that item. I waited 10 minutes only to walk away disappointed and saddened as I cannot eat ice cream in the parks except a fe4w rare table service places.

It is not fair that we on special diet have to eat pungent blood orange sorbet while others eat decadant desserts. I am thinking of bringing one of mine from the freezer. I wanted chocolate and my friends pigged out on fine chocolates while I ate that yucky sorbet. Being on special diets means being an outcast except for the pizza places and Taste Pilot's at times. I do not want you stinking kid's chicken or tacos. Why cant I have some yummy steak.

Amen to that!

I don't know if this is allowable on your special diet, but have you tried the sugar free chocolate treats at Pooh's Corner? I am a chocolate fiend who no longer eats sugar. I have had the sugar free treats at Pooh's Corner and they are WONDERFUL!! :cloud9:

I guess I have a few secrets. So I will start with a big one. When I took my DD there for the first time, she was 18 months old, I used a kid leash. She refused to hold my hand and refused to sit in the stroller so it was all I could do to keep her contained.

I also will tell you that my son who is 6, but was 5, when I took him for his first time got his own stroller. He has PDD/NOS and I needed a place for him to chill out and to be able to follow our pace.

I even took my kids out of school for our trip.

I also got to see Fantasmic! from The Disney Gallery in 1992 and just didn't see what the big deal was.

I love IASW Holiday, but not IASW any other time.
