A coworker is having a baby! She told us the gender a few months back and I went out and got some gifts. I got some pajamas, some onesies, and a few outfits. This past week it was announced that our work party for her will be a "wipes and diaper" party and that she prefers Pamoera Swaddles. I assumed I would just still give the gift I purchased. On Friday we were informed by this coworker that she had a huge family shower and if anyone brings anything other than wipes or diapers just include a gift receipt as it will be returned. And anything other than pampers Swaddles will be returned. She also told us about all the hideous clothes she got and all the things she's Returning and basically beratedall the things she got.

I found this so off putting, I'm thinking of returning my gift and giving her nothing. She's 32, so old enough to not be an ungrateful brat. My husband thinks I should return the stuff and get her what she requested.

You're absolutely right--she gets nothing. If she's going to dictate exactly what she wants and basically tells you anything less isn't acceptable, write her off the list.

I would also return the gift and get her nothing.

Girlfriend sounds like a jerk and I don't blame you for being peeved. The imperious tone of another coworker "heralding" her wishes would be enough to make me cranky. But, alas, I probably agree with your DH, although I would just dump the package of diapers in the pile and not bother wasting my time at the party.

What if her kid can't use the Pampers Swaddles? Our oldest got a horrible rash from Pampers, nor could he use commercial wipes, we had to use wash cloths (yuck but you do what you have to do).

Sorry, but when someone puts that many conditions on gifts, they will not get one from me...or if you feel the need, give her a box of wipes and call it good.

She sounds like a ungrateful spoiled brat either give her nothing or give her the gift you bought minus gift receipt and tags.

I'd also return the gift and give nothing. But I also would have told her she sounds like an ungrateful ***** if she talked to me about all that other stuff, so it wouldn't be a surprise.

I bet she's the type of woman that believes she's the only person in the entire world that has ever had a baby, right? :rolleyes1We all know people like that.

You return what you bought and get her nothing.

What a snot.

I wouldn't get her anything either and I would return the things you've already purchased and get yourself a little something!

Why is she having a shower for her second anyway? You'd think she'd just be appreciative of that.

I would just get her wipes.

These days I just take the path of least resistance. I really do not care to put 1 second of energy into "making a stand" anymore for stupidity or crazy.

I take a stand if something is genuine and necessary.

I know this is regional, but we don't throw baby showers for second time mothers.

She is on her own!

She get a big fat ZERO from me. She needs to learn some manners and to be more grateful.
