Your must-sees for Washington DC?

Ok this isn't what was really asked but just had to pass on cause it still makes me laugh.

My cousin got married a few years ago in DC since both he & his wife are in the Secret Service (shhhhh) We had a little time to sight-see since it was only a long weekend trip for us. My only real desire was to see the reflecting pool you know just like in all the tv shows. You better sit down for this one ..... we have pictures of us WALKING IN IT. The darned thing was drained so they could paint it the following Monday.

Just my dumb luck :rotfl2:

that Panda's are for me. Actually I have driven from PA to the Zoo looked at the Panda's for about an hour and then drove home. Love the zoo, can't wait to go again..

Born and raised in DC. My recommendations....

A tour of the monuments at night...beautiful.

Have tea in the National Portait Gallery downstairs in the basement...it's a lovely museum and they have a little tea shop right near an underground waterfall. While in the National Gallery, you can check out things like The Four Seasons and a real DiVinci....there is usually a visiting artist of one sort or another. I've seen Sylvia Plath, Andrew Wyath, Monet, etc...that way.

I love the gems in the Natural History Museum.

The National Cathedral is great. Be sure to do the rubbings.

If you want good ethnic food, head up to Wardley Park....there's a little bit of everything up there. Ask the consierge at your hotel, and I'm sure you will get great recommendations....just ask for places the locals go.

Several(10 years) summers ago we went to DC. It was one of the best trips we every did. Our most favs. were Arlington Cem., Air Museum and walking the mall but the best was going to the Vietnam Wall and seeing my then 5 year old trying to pick up the American Flags that had fallen down and placing them back upright. It was very, very HOT during July so I would say to you is drink, drink, drink lots of water. We also used the trolley.
