What was the "weirdest" Halloween costume you ever wore?

My was senior year of high school when I dressed up as Santa Claus. I thought it would be funny -- have you ever seen Santa on Halloween? Well, it ended up being very HOT in that suit, plus (and this was something I didn't even think of) several little kids thought I was the real Santa Claus. So, being the good guy that I am, I let out my biggest "Ho! Ho! Ho!" and asked "Have you been good this year?" I remember going up to one door and a parent called their little girl to the door and said, "Look who's here." As the uncomfortable feelings set in, I told the little girl, "Be good the rest of the year and I'll bring you some great stuff for Christmas."

Then again, now that I think about it, it must've been really weird for that little girl to see Santa Claus walking around with Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas, a pimp (am I allowed to say that on the DIS?!?!?), and a 30s flapper.

I don't regret wearing the costume -- I still think it was an inspired choice. But it led for an interesting last time out trick-or-treating.

What were your weirdest (or most memorable) Halloween costumes?

When I was four, I wore a Marie Osmond costume, complete with mask. My mom still has it in her garage! :earseek:

In 6th grade I dressed up as Aunt Jemima. I really looked good! Of course, now it wouldn't be PC to do that, but it was great fun and people loved it. :)

i had jaw surgery one year and by the time halloween rolled around i was still wired shut and my face was covered with brusing. my then boyfriend and i tried to come up with an idea that could incorporate my "new look".

we ended up getting a ratty, dirty looking dress of victorian style for me (i also put potting soil in my hair and under my fngernails) and he went in a black suit with a top hat. he carried around a measuring tape all night measuring people. he was an undertaker and i was his date who he had "dug up for the night".

The last year I ever went trick or treating (13 or 14??) I dressed up as a Television.

Made it myself out of a big cardboard box, aluminum foil, saran wrap & used pencils & coathangers for the "rabbit ears".

Every house I went to loved it (or at least that's how I remember it..... :goodvibes )

in the 3rd grade (somewhere around then) i was SNOOPY!!

when i was in 7th? grade i dressed as half woman and half man. just sewed together half pair of pant and skirt. same with the shirt. did half of my face in makeup and half with mustache!! It turned out pretty neat.

Weirdest: a nun

Most Memorable: the invisible man

As an adult, I dressed up as "the bride who was left waiting at the altar"..

It was really awesome.. I had a group of adult friends and one of the couples always staged an extremely elaborate scene in their driveway each Halloween..

The driveway was set up like a wedding reception - complete with a 4-tiered wedding cake with spots of green mold.. I had recently divorced my 1st husband, so I volunteered to be the bride - and wore my wedding gown and veil.. We smudged a little gray dirt on it - and my hair - oh my! It was VERY long then and they teased it till it was about 3 stories high - then dusted it with flour.. They put granny glasses on me and stuck me in a rocking chair next to the table with the wedding cake.. It was really quite the sight to see - even appeared in the local newspapers.. Most fun I EVER had on Halloween! :teeth:

In college, a friend and I dressed as Hersey kisses. Another time, I went to a party dressed as a tea bag.

This is what we did one year. I was pregnant so Rick dressed in one of my preggo outfits and i fit into his uniform pants a little too perfectly.

I just found a picture of me when I was about 3 or 4, with a big brown paper bag on my head!!! My Dad had made eye holes and a nose...I was a cute little girl!! Where was my Princess costume?!? :confused3 princess:
I remember not wanting to even go trick or treating...the next year I was a clown.
I had to wait a long time but I eventually got the Princess costume!

Benji's going for memorable this year. He wants to be jim Cantore!! He has it all planned out.

Let's see....
One year, DH was playing in a band on Halloween. So he was onstage dressed as a nun (he grew a goatee just for this event). So he was a bearded nun. (Yes, my Catholic DH felt irreverent. But he did it anyway, it was his choice. I am NOT Catholic.) :rockband:

I was "The Waitress from HE**" ... complete with red horns + tail, and emblazoned on my apron : "Tip me or die of Thirst."

Oh, those were the days.

One year I was Marge Simpson, I found this big blue hair wig that was perfect, found yellow face paint, a green tube dress, red shoes and a big red bead necklace, and some goofy eyeballs. Wish I had a pic of that!

Every year was my favorite costume....Holloween is my families favorite holiday......Having siblings that are 11, 14,15, and 16 yrs. older than me had its advantages. As a child I always won 1st place. My costumes were always a family affair. I have been, just to mention a few
a robot w/working knobs
a giant teddybear
a dollar bill, (my neice and nephew were a quarter, and dime.)
groom (male friend was the bride)

As an adult, my all time fave was when we were planning our annual Halloween Party at my sister's house. My husband purchased an alien mask, We put the rest of the costume together. Made a battery operated belt that lit up and made sounds. painted his gloves and boots silver....We never told anyone what we were doing. 3 wks before the party, we mailed a letter to my sis telling her that "We, the aliens were coming to her planet to find females to take back to our planet so we could reproduce. But, we come in peace".. We continued every few days mailing these letters to her....She was freaking out because she had no idea who was sending them....it was great! We also told her that my DH had to go out of state at the time of her party....I made such detailed plans with her as to DD and I spending the weekend at her house so we weren't traveling by ourselves. The night of the party, I dropped my DH off at the corner of her street and proceeded to her house without him.....At some point during the party he came out of the bushes. He walked around handing out little rubber aliens to all the woman.....It was the best, no one knew who he was till he had to take his mask of after about 2hrs. It went so well that we repeated it 2 more times that year at another party and at my work......people still talk about it.

Now that I am a parent I can live through my child. Just like my mother did. I always swore I would never do that. Hopefully when she is an adult she will have memories as great as mine.

Have a Safe/Fun Halloween

Back in college I went as a flasher.

Big black raincoat, with nothing underneath.

That was some pretty cold trick or treating that year.
