Every time I see the castle is just Magical but two memories (from the many) stand out in my head.
DBF had never been to Disney, so me, being a fanatic, had to take him down there to prove to him that it truly is an amazing place. It was our first solo trip together and I was determined to make him like Disney so I planned and planned and then planned some more. When we got down there though, the plan flew out the door and we just flew by the seat of our pants. Well, on day three, we ended up going to MK and spending over 13 hours there. At the end of the night, we sat and waited for wishes and I started to cry because we were going to leave the next day to go on a three day disney cruise and I wasn't going to get to see the castle (which I absolutely love) again for a while. So, Mike put his arm around me and said, "don't worry, we will be back soon". Well, if you could know mike, you would know that him being willing to go back there means that he liked it alot. That was magical, not only did I know that we would be returning to The World together, but it was at that moment that I knew I had accomplished my mission. Now we are planning a Christmas trip for this year.
The second thing that I remember was pure magic...My sister, Cheryl, who took me and my friend to WDW two times as teenagers, was absolutely in love with Disney - everything about it. She was born with a degenerative lung disease called Cystic Fibrosis, which basically just made it hard for her to be very active (think asthmatic like symptoms). As she got older, it became harder and harder for her to breathe, but some how, some way, in Disney, she could RUN. It was almost like Disney could cure her and for the short time that we visited there, she was fine. I swear she would just run from one place to another, we couldn't miss shows and we couldn't skip rides, she was determined to see and do it all and she did it. She did it with a child-like vibrance that I rarely saw in her anywhere else in the world. During our trip in 2000, she spotted Cinderella while walking through MGM. She loved Cinderella and had to take a picture with her so she stood in line with all of the little girls and I think she was the most excited of all of them (she was 25). When she finally reached her idol, she put her arm around her and smiled a smile that was so true, so pure and to me, simpley Magical to see. There was no where in the world that she was happier then she was in WDW. Cheryl died on April 23, 2004. We had a trip to the World booked for August 2004 that she never got to take. So now, when I step onto main st and look at the castle, I smile and think of her. I smile because to Cheryl, Disney WAS magic and when I am there, I think of my sister - smiling, running and full of life.
