Your mission: the no-bag line

30+ trips in the last 12 years, and I'm an avid sunscreen profit. I do the spray on 50+ proof (sometimes 70 or 80) first thing, then again before the pool mid day and then again before we go out in the "evening." I just carry one of those sun block sticks with me, a bit of cash, my id, my cc, iphone, a lip gloss/chapstick, and MAYBE a mascara if its evening and I'm feeling really froggy. All can easily be stored in a small wristlet, or pockets. I've sewed pockets into several cheap cotton dresses and it was a breeze.

BEST OF LUCK!

License, CC and cell phone in one pocket. A head band and a small bottle or ziplock bag of sunscreen.

I don't carry and ID or a credit card. Why do you need them?

I think it's important to carry ID and medical insurance card on me whenever traveling. I also carry ID with me at home when going out for a walk - what if you were injured somehow? My mom had a bad fall last year when out walking the dog. Luckily I was with her, but what if I hadn't been? She was unconscious, and went to the ER. (I once read a post where someone was injured while at one of the WDW parks and was taken straight to the emergency room. Definitely needed her medical insurance card! I'm sure that's rare, but always a good idea to have ID/insurance card just in case.)

Plus, if your magic band doesn't work for some reason, would WDW ask for your ID to verify who you are to straighten out the problem? Probably. It would sure be a hassle to have to go all the way back to the room to get ID.

Finally, if having an "adult beverage", not a bad idea to carry ID. I'm a little too old to get carded (darn!) but some folks aren't.

I would rather carry a bag than have my pockets crammed full of stuff. I hate having stuff in my pockets. Seriously;)

Me too!

I remember one year carrying around one of those big clunky mister fans. It did have a carabiner clip on it, which you could attach to your belt loop, but it kept banging against my leg. Drove me crazy! So the next day I used a small backpack that I could tuck the mister bottle into.

My DH carries his wallet so he gets all the money, ID's, and we do bring our AP passes just in case. I get the car keys, and we each carry our phone. It's awesome getting to bypass those long bag lines! :)

I agree. I carry lip gloss in my pocket, but I can't imagine carrying the amount of stuff that some people say they have in their cargo pants/shorts just to avoid the bag line. ;) Personally, I've never found the bag line to be a big deal, although I will admit that I don't go during peak crowd times, so I don't know if it's that much worse than what I've experienced.

I just thought I would add a couple of things. First, last December we were bag free and I got a headache. We went to First Aid and got a free pack of Ibuprofen. DH just had to sign in and that was that. I'm not sure what other free meds they have there.
Second, a few years ago DH purchased a hard plastic flip top container from POR resort gift shop(they can be found anywhere). It had a lanyard and was perfect to store our KTTW, photo pass, license and CC in. Since it was worn around his neck there was no worry about it falling out. We have used it every trip since.

The bag line doesn't bother me too much but I have to admit that it was fun the one time I got to skip it - just to say I did it. Sadly, as long as I have kids, I will be the bag lady (and stroller lady, and cooler lady).

The time I skipped it? A solo trip to the W & F festival. I carried by AP, room key, ID, credit card, cash and chapstick in my front shorts pocket and my cell phone in my left pocket (trip was pre magic band). The next day, I was back to the bag line with my purse, mainly so that I could carry a few other things like my W&F Passport book and a camera.

Cargo shorts/pants...you wouldn't believe what I've smuggled in

THIS!!! We have been bagless for many years, even with kids. Sunscreen comes in little tubes on carabiners. Pockets pockets pockets!!! Chapstick, ids, sunglasses on head, meds, bandaids, there is nothing we need that we can't fit in.

This thread has me laughing! I've been plotting my bagless attack of the "turnstiles" for months now! I'm planning on using my SPIbelt underneath my shirt. I figure I can fit my iPhone, a couple gift cards/ID/cash, Burt's Bees, and a sunscreen stick in there. Can't wait to strut by all those people waiting in the bag-check line! :cool2:

Wow, good luck! I might try that this year, but I'm such a worrywart I always feel like I need to bring a bag of stuff (but almost never use any of it).

It is against the law, in the US anyway, to refuse medical care to anyone who is in urgent need. So, if you are unconscious or having a heart attack by law you cannot be refused care because you don't have an insurance card with you. Plus, I am not walking around Disney by myself, ever.

We were there last week and at least one of us would have a Magic Band not read when we were trying to enter a park each day. The CM at the gate raised their hand and a CM with an Ipad immediately came over to help. They would ask a question such as "what was the last park you were in?" and let us in right away. Once they even scanned my MB and addressed me by my first name! Never once did they ask for any form of ID.

Yep, my 21 year old daughter did carry her ID when she knew she would want to order a drink. No one in their right mind would card me, two of my kids are old enough to drink.

I understand being overly cautious but I just never am. Disney can identify my just be scanning my MB. I can charge with my MB. Works for me :thumbsup2

I don't carry and ID or a credit card. Why do you need them?

I don't understand the idea of deliberately making things harder IF something bad were to happen to you.

Why deal with the difficulties if you suddenly become very ill or break something and end up at the hospital? Why not just have your ID and insurance card with you?

MBs are just an extra thing for me. Just in case charging doesn't work (happened even before the RFID stuff, nothing is perfect) I've got the CC (and frankly I normally don't have room-charge set up anyway), I have my ID, I now have my insurance cards since reading about someone whose husband injured himself badly during a rundisney event and was taken to the hospital, I have my AP card when I have an AP, we carry the DVC card (AP and DVC cards are just in case the band doesn't work and/or if I want to get a discount on something), and the ID is so I can prove I'm me for that discount, and then TIW card. I feel like I'm missing something...

The MB is yet another thing.

Doesn't matter if you look old enough. They still CAN ask for your ID, and if you don't have it, you're not getting the drink without the CM putting their job in jeopardy. My next door neighbor is 95 and if someone carded him and he didn't have it, he couldn't legally get that drink.

Witz brand. Can get them from REI without the WDW branding if you wish. I carry a slim clear one for my cards. :)

Also, if you are entitled to certain discounts, you have to show ID with your card to get your discount, so ID is necessary for that purpose for sure! I think we had to show ID for AP discounts--can't remember for sure about DVC and TiW, but better to be prepared.

As for going bagless, I could manage it. Cell phone in one pocket, camera on my wrist, pins on my lanyard, and two bottles of water in DH's cargo shorts. However, I got a new mini bag for my pins last year and it's worth the extra two minutes at bag check to me to not lose pins off my lanyard anymore.

I've been bag less for the last 3 years (no kids.) I wear shorts w/ regular pockets. I bring: DL, AP, CC. $40 cash, lip balm and a small (2 ounce) bottle of sunscreen to reapply to my hands after washing (the backs of my hands are very prone to sunburn.)

Yes, I decided I'm not going to pack first aid stuff this time. With just the two of us we can tough it out to First Aid at the parks, whereas with the kids I wanted solutions on hand.

And oh! Your post reminded me, I bought a waterproof pouch for my last trip! It's big enough to hold my phone, license, insurance card, cash, CCs, which means my pockets can be manageable with just sunscreen and lip balm.

This is happening!! Thanks everyone for the advice!

I always like to have my ID on me even if I don't need it. In the summer of 2012, my family and I went to Virginia. Any time I used my debit card down there, I had to show my ID.

Because we go in August I feel like I always need to have a poncho with me because the rain is so unpredictable . That's the one thing that keeps a bag on me!

I wear regular pants or shorts, and have the misc. cards and bandaids in one pocket and the cell phone in the other pocket. I also have a TINY bag with a few pills in it and a $20 bill that can fit in either pocket. I would not like a bulky feel, and these are barely noticeable.

I no longer carry a water bottle, as there are many drinking fountains in the parks. I do drink a lot of water each day.

My camera I can wear around my neck, but it gets heavy after a while. I just don't take it every day. I won't need it if: (1) I am going to be in the same park other days, (2) this is going to be a very long day, (3) much of my time there will be after dark, (4) I remember how many multiple identical photos I already have of everything..... If I take the camera, I temporarily carry a cloth bag for it in a pocket. I can use this for the camera when it gets heavy and/or when I go on a ride.
