Your Longest Stay

It's bad when you can tell your doctors which floor you would prefer to be admitted to (and if they can...they actually fulfill your request!) I've been on every patient floor in the hospital and I definitely have my preferences. Luckily, I am usually admitted for asthma or heart issues so I get to be on the pulmonary or cardiac floors which are my first two preferences. And those floors have my favorite nurses. You have to make the best out of a bad situation.

I do this too! I've been in the same Children's hospital many times in the last two years and I always want the 6th floor. Last time I was on the 5th and it made it so much worse :rotfl:.

Yeah I was on the 3rd floor on my last stay and that is the general med/surg floor and not my favorite at all.

The 4th floor is one of my favorite because it has my favorite nurses and because it is the same floor as peds which means I get frequent visits by my favorite doctor who is a peds. specialist. Luckily, I can usually get the 4th floor. Don't always get my favorite nurses but I have never had a bad nurse at this hospital and my favorite nurses usually stop by a couple of times during my stay to see how I am.

10 days for kidney failure, pericardial effusion and Wegener's granulamatosis.

A full week, back in 1977 when I had my gall bladder and appendix taken out "the old fashioned way."

my longest hospital stay was 3 days, monday morning to thursday morning, when DD13 was born by c-section. my gastric bypass surgery only required 2 days in the hospital, and my gallbladder surgery was day surgery-in before crack of dawn, out before supper.

2.5 weeks following a car accident, then 6 weeks for the resulting spinal surgery. I was next to the nurses station and could tell the doctors coming down the hall from the footsteps. Also heard all the hospital gossip.

My longest hospital stay was 6 days. I went in for outpatient removal of a very minor ovarian cyst and woke up with a "smile" from hipbone to hipbone. My "minor"ovarian cyst turned out to be a 6" monster that they somehow missed on ultrasound. Then they looked at the other ovary and yikes! it's got something on it too! My doctor told me he almost wet his pants when he saw all this. He took the left one and part of the right--thankfully everything was benign. However, somewhere during the surgery the doctor nicked my bladder, one ureter and a little small bowel. As if that wasn't enough, on day 3--my go-home day--my left lung partially collapsed and I developed fever & pneumonia overnight. I was so happy to get out of there after 6 days. I felt like I had been kidnapped!
