Your input please!

Rick...we would also welcome you and your partner at our table. Go and enjoy yourselves, have fun and be yourselves.
On our last two cruises, there was a lesbian couple (we saw them on our cruise in 2002 and 2003) and they were having a great time...we spoke briefly at the pool and they said they had been on the Disney cruise for several years in a row and loved it, felt welcomed by most people and would continue to cruise Disney.

Rick,

I also wanted to lend my support. Go cruise and have fun! My family would welcome you at our table as well. I have read your trip reports and you have made me laugh out loud!

Denise

Hey RickinNYC- I am so glad to see so many positive replies to your post. I know my family and I would be glad to have you at our table. I like supporting Disney with my consumer dollar because among other things, they are a great company to work for if you are gay, they give partners health benefits. (Now that's REAL family values)I was so impressed when I heard that I bought Disney stock. So I guess this gives you an idea of how I feel.
If you do have the unfortunate circumstance of having LAME tablemates, talk to the head server. Since there are only 2 of you they can probably shuffle you around somewhere else. Don't let it ruin your trip.

Rick
Don't kiss all over one another, let your DP feed you, call him googily oogily (or any other pet name) and one more thing, don't touch his face lovingly and you'll be fine. Can I sit with you two?

Rick,

Like I said in an earlier post, DS9 and I would love to sit with you.......you and Joe are welcome to be yourselves.........except please don't wear any polo shirts with the collars standing up....and above all, never EVER layer polo shirts as I wouldn't want my DS9 to get into this habit......someone might actually think he looked like stacked 'legos'.....I had a friend who did this and his friends actually nicknamed him "Bif"......what a loser.....;)

Go have fun. Enjoy yourself. As long as you are not overly affectionate, you would be more than welcome at our table as well. We have a gay "couple" who are very close to our family and are invited to our pool parties. Everyone knows but nobody makes a big deal out of it because we are having such a fun time. Certainly do not let others spoil your chance to enjoy a Disney Cruise - Mike

Okay RockinNYC you just change your plans and come with us on the Sept 5, 2004 Wonder! We would have such a blast! I work in the medical field and have tons of gay friends! One of the biggest reasons I married my husband is that is not a homophobe(spelling???). So, switch your dates and come along with us and just be your self! Who cares what others think! Disney is "gay friendly" anyhow!!!

Just lending a vote for "go and enjoy!!!" but can't top THAT!!!

Rick,
Just wanted you to know that you have some Canadian support too! Of course we have legal gay marriages up here so I guess it's not too surprising!

As all the others have said, go and enjoy! And from the coments people have made, it sounds like you and your partner would be honoured guests at many tables! It sounds like both of you are super people and that's what's important!

Hi,
I don't mind if you don't mind that I am straight, you and your loved one would be welcomed at my table with my family if you look at the trip reports I believe there is one from a couple that were celebrating their 20th yr. Looks to me like they had a blast.
Don't worry one bit.
You and your loved one will be welcomed

RickinNYC, We would be honored with you at our table. I can say a couple of serious things though,

1) DCL groups families together for seating by the ages of their children, so you would probably be at a table with no kids around,

2) DW and I have been on 3 cruises, and have yet to be offended by the people at our table, their diversity was part of the fun.

3) I think after the first 5 minutes at a table with someone intolerant, they would ask to be moved.

4) If not, It is your vacation, so who cares about what they think; I would play to their phobias.

5) Some of the people at our tables were of dubious relationships..one was a May/December couple (newlyweds), one guy named Manny was one of the most hilarious people we ever met. He wouldn't eat anything green, our server was from Tolouse France, and she kept saying things like No Dessert for you, giving him double portions, the got him to eat 24 peas on the last night; it threw him over the edge. They were also on a honeymoon, and he did not own a suit...his new FIL took him to buy one for the cruise...they had a hard time fitting him because of where he was used to wearing his pants....I could go on and on, but the people you meet at your table are always special...if not, enjoy it anyway.....

:bounce:

Rick,

Definitely go - and you'd be welcome to sit with us on any of our planned cruises....

As TKSbaskets said earlier - the 10 day Cruise over Christmas is going to be a blast.

People are people...love is love...commitment is commitment, and a 13 yr relationship is amazing and something to be proud of nom matter WHAT the makeup of it is. I'm with everyone else in this thread...I'd love to have you as tablemates, AND introduce my kids to you. In this day and age when so many of their friends are from broken homes, it'd be nice for them to see another example of a long term happy relationship. Anyone has a problem with that, send them to me, I'll take care of them. *flexes muscles...wait...what muscles...* *wink*

Might you run into tablemates not as cool as all of us here? ;) Yep...we believe we saw it on our cruise. Table next to us had a mom and her older son, who had special needs. They had a couple of men sit with them the first 1 or 2 nights...then we noticed that they were at their table of 4 alone for the rest of the cruise. Probably unfair of me to assume, but the mom and the son (who I'd guess was early 20s?) were impeccably dressed, and exuded a very charming and friendly attitude, and seemed to try to draw these other two into conversation...but then their tablemates were just gone. My "tolerate anything but intolerance" personality kicked in and I was upset for them, but they didnt' let it ruin their dinners, they dressed up night after night and seemed to enjoy themselves, and I say good for them. If we weren't at a table for 4, I'd have asked them to join us. We saw it once again with one of the performers, who they apparently assign to different tables randomly throughout the cruise. This guy was GREAT, we saw him one night at dinner with another table and he was having a blast. The next night they put him at a table of 4 older people, and we were watching him, and they basically ignored him the whole time! We felt SO badly, and talked to him later in the Rockin' D Bar where he was enjoying another show that we were also taking in...he said they just did not appreciate his show or his humor and therefore would not interact with him - he also said that many people were coming up to offer their tables because they noticed it too, but he felt he couldn't be rude and stuck it out, staring at the ceiling or the floor through the whole dinner. It was too bad, because he and my son really hit it off, it would have been nice to have him sit with us. Who knows how some people will act, I guess. :(

Oh...sidenote, I think the tag fairy needs to add "googly oogly" to your title, Rick... *grin* ;)

I'll echo what has already been said and tell you than I would welcome you at my table also...anytime. I was hoping you were going on the 9/4/04 cruise because as of right now I am cruising alone and would love to have someone to dine with.

That would be correct! My partner and I were on the NYE cruise just a few months ago. Rick, we have booked again for the October 1st Eastern in 2005. I'd be honored to link our ressies so we can dine together! :wave2:

Oh and we booked another cat 3 suite. We can prebook Palo as well!

Well, it looks like you don't need my input, but I'll join the ranks in saying - book that cruise baby! I seriously doubt you two will be the only same-sex couple on board. And who in the blazes wouldn't want to be seated at the same table as the very famous RickinNYC (or should I say infamous?).

Wish I could go and I further wish you could sit with us. I'm jealous either way.::yes::

Hi!
I would love to have you as table mates!! Love a great table mate!! I agree and would hook up with some DIS'ers!! Life is way too short to worry about what others think!!
Hakunah Matatah!!!
Be happy!!!
Be proud you are a successful couple, many others may be jealous...

i think that people are offended by men wearing tank tops and flip-flops at dinner with back hair hanging out . or worse, women wearing bathing-suit cover-ups over their wet suits to dinner:eek: .........but seriously, im sure that you can see that you have nothing to worry about!!!dcl and wdw are completely gay friendly.
ps-dh , my kids and i are cruising again on 1/29/2005. we'd love to dine with you!!!:)

Go on the October 16 Eastern and you can sit at our table! But if not....go when ever you want...if they stick you at a table with people you aren't comfortable with or you feel aren't comfortable with you ask to have a new table assignment. As you can tell from all the replies you've gotten there are some great people on this board....some of them would bound to be on the cruise with you and you'll find them!

Rick, the only thing you and Joe need to remember is...
No jeans at dinner!

Otherwise, go, enjoy yourselves, be yourselves and behave yourselves!
