What was the very first car that you owned?

Mine was given to me by my mom after I started driving. It was a Toyota Corolla Tercell. It wasn't the most flashy car or the fastest car, but it sure was good on gas. I used to drive about 25 miles a day to school (each way), and that car saved me (or should I say my mom :rotfl: ) a lot of money on gas. I kept that car for many years. In fact it lasted until I got married. But unfortunately my wife comes from a family that seems to be cursed with bad luck with cars. Only a few months after getting married, the car died.

First car was a white Honda civic. This was way back in 1987. I love Hondas, have had 6 so far, another civic, an 2 Accords and 2 CRXs. Drove a skyhawk for a while, and now have a Jetta. I also still have my 1992 CRX. It rocks. If it was auto, I'd still be driving it. The gas milage is awesome.

My first car was a 1968 Camaro given to me when I graduated in 1976.

I LOVED that car. And did a lot of "lovin'" in it!

1967 White Chevy Bel Air given to me when I graduated in 1973. Great car - blue vinyl seats. :p

Mine was a 1985 Ford Mustang LX.....brown. Great scott. It finally died...the transmission just couldn't hold up. I really did not like that car. It was not pretty....but it got me where I needed to go!

Mine was a black Chevy Baretta. I loved it, till it died. :( And now they don't even make those anymore. How old are my kids going to think I am, when I tell them that they don't even MAKE my first car anymore?? :rotfl:

Black 1964 Galaxy 500 with red interior. Power brakes, power steering, power windows.
Very cool car.Paid $500.00 for it in 1974. Sold it in 1993 for $200.00 to some guy who was going to fix it up.

A 1989 Dodge Grand Caravan...not the coolest first car

My Dad got a brand new red one in 1968 during his first midlife crisis. 25 years later he had another one and got a red Miata. Not exactly a muscle car, huh? But at least it was red.

Oh, and speaking of un-cool. While my 67 Chevy was great, it had been my mom's car. How mortified to get mom's hand-me-downs. At least Dad could have coughed up the Camero. :)

My first was was 1980 silver Dodge Omni. A box a wheels. It was basic transportation. Traded it in 1988 when it started leaving me stranded and bought a Hyundai Excel when Hyundai's first came out. It didn't have A/C and in the South that is not pleasant.

I used to drive my Mom's car before my Camaro. It was a 67 Chevy II with vinyl BENCH seats. I used to Armoral the seats just before dates and then make hard right (hmm.. maybe that's when it all started :) turns and slide them over next to me. Worked every time!

:thumbsup2 Ahhh....the memories!

I was 17 and just married DH when we bought a very sharp new 1964 Black Mustang with red interior! Oh how we love that car and made special memories as we were foot loose and fancy free!!! Traded it in 3 yrs later when we had our first baby on a Mercury station wagon and soon filled it up with 4 kids!! :goodvibes

Never had another 2 door car for 27 years, until we bought a new red 1994 Thunderbird as our reward for the last one graduating from college. :goodvibes

My first car was a used blue 1987 Hyundai Excel. It was good while it lasted. The repairs were starting to get too costly - $1,000 per month - until I got hit from behind at a red light. Totaled the car, but I got a new one out of it; a red 1996 Geo Chevy Prism (based on that Toyota Corrolla). I bought it brand new off the lot, so I'm the original owner. It's 10 years old this month and still going!

Since DH got license back when he was 17 or 18, he has always had used cars (never from a dealer). And he also had bad luck with cars. He used to go through one car a year, in the first 10 years, because of accidents (not caused by him, except one), or mechanical problems. He owned a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder that we got from a used car dealer and that lasted until October (got 5 years out of it).

He now is the proud owner of his very first brand new car - a 2006 Toyota Matrix with all-wheel drive. The last of it's kind on Long Island since Toyota discontinued all-wheel drive with their 2007 models. Although, he was getting teased at work and called "Minnie Me" because his boss has the same color car, just his is a few years older :rotfl: DH and his boss took it in stride and the jokes have subsided.

My first car was a brand new 1974 red Chevy Camaro.

I paid cash for it. I was very proud of myself :goodvibes

A brand new factory ordered (had to wait 6 weeks for it) Brown Cutlass S. It had beige interior & an AM radio! My Mom purchased it since I was still in H.S. & she told me that it would be MY car if I took her everywhere she needed to go. I thought that was a great deal!! I had a part time job & I paid for all the insurance & gas....which meant my entire paycheck went towards the car!! But I was so thrilled to have a brand new car, it didn't matter!

1983 Toyota Tercel hatchback for $500 in 1991. I taught myself (and like 4 friends over the years) how to drive a stick shift. When I got my first new car (1993 Toyota Tercel), I sold "Superfly" to my sister for $600. :rotfl2:

I had just put new tires and a cassette player in it!

the first car I bought was a little red opal. I don't remember what year it was because it spent more time in the shop than it did my driveway. It was a cute little car,but it was just a piece of junk! The first car I had, was a 69 Cutlass that my DF passed down to me. It was green with a white top.

Someone is gonna think I've got a screw loose (several, actually), but my first car WHICH I ENDED UP HATING! was a 1974 Porsche 914 (red). This was in 1980 and I purchased it from a pastor friend of my dad. I had the car for about six months and spent a small fortune ($1400 - I was only 18) in repairs in that amount of time. AND I didn't even like driving a manual! My dad, on the other hand LOVED that car. I ended up driving his 1972 Chevelle. He drove my car (with the top off in Ohio in January!!!) til I sold it.

My next car was a '76 (I think) Pontiac Firebird.....which I LOVED!
