As I sat here tonight hugging my little ones a lot tighter upon learning of the tragic loss of one of our DIS families, I looked around the house and realized ....we don't have a fire escape plan. I WILL remedy that by tommorrow. Before they go to bed again we will draw up and practice a couple of escape plans and than we will practice it again...and again.

While my SS was here a couple of years ago, I had gone over all of the emergency plans and important phone numbers with him. I thought that kids would learn about Sparky and the different things to do when there is a fire or emergency, but don't assume. Go over this with your children. SS's mom and other relatives does not do any of this and it did make me mad. What if something were to happen? He know knows what to do at our house and at his mom's apartment.

Yes, we do.

We live in a ranch style condo which is about 3 floors up. We have a fire ladder so we can get out a window if necessary.

We have a new smoke detector in each room. As well as a Co2 detector in the kitchen. We also have a fire extengiser.
