Have always bought my athletic shoes at Payless but want to get a good pair for DH and myself for Disney. Also, this is tax free week in NY so its a good week to buy them. Anyone have any suggestions or names of their favorite brands?
Thanks

I'm a nurse and I'm on my feet all day. My favorite are Propet, Easy Spirit, and Rockport.

For myself I love Ryka sportwalker, walking shoe. You can find them at Lady Footlocker, or footlocker.com. I have been wearing them for years, just keep buying the same shoe as I wear them out. They are made for women's feet so they fit wonderfully.

For a great sandal..I love my teva's. Like walking in tennis shoes, very comfy.

My hubby..likes the new balance 609 cross trainer for walking around the parks. Now, it may have a different number for 2005, he hasn't got a new pair yet this year. You can easily find the new balance mens cross trainers in Pennys, foot locker, sports authority. If you find them at the right time they are $39.99. One of the best bargains ever for shoes.

As far as sandals for him..teva's all the way.

Good luck shoe shopping!

My choice is New Balance for walking the parks. I wear the 609's and the 620's
( 620 the new # for 609 ). Being a big guy these have been wonderful on my feet. all day in the parks with no problem.

Realized the week before this last trip that I needed new walkers. I bought New Balance for the first time. I wore them the entire trip, only a week old, and they were wonderful. 4 of us were wearing New Balance (two ran in them - WDW 5k & Half Marathon) and they worked for us all weekend ! :flower:

New Balance for us, too. It's the only brand of running/walking shoe that we will buy. So much more comfortable than Nike or Adidas.

My DH got me a new pair of NIKE Shox for Christmas and I'm dying to wear them to Disney. I don't think I've ever owned a pair of shoes more than $50 but these are supposed to be great. When I wear them around town, they feel like I'm wearing my slippers.

I love my NB's. My foot doctor recommended them - said they were the best shoes made!

what you really need to do is go to a specialty footwear store and let them measure your feet and look at it's shape.

when I walked for the avon breast cancer walk which was 20 miles a day for 3 days, I needed the right shoe. each person is different...NB are great but apparently not for my feet. I was told to buy Nikes.

also, another tip, buy your shoes at least one size bigger. Your feet expand and the toes won't keep hitting the top of the sneaker.
another great tip is to buy this product called "glide" in the shoe store. rub it on your feet before beginning of day. It majorily helps with blisters
trust me

Merrills are the most comfortable sandal I have ever worn. I have a cute pink slide pair. look on the internet to get an idea. Mine are made of Neoprene and suede insoles. They are so great for walking.

I personally don't like the look of them enough to wear on a daily basis, I only wear them at WDW

My very favorite shoes are Hushpuppies
"Bounce". The exact style is called "Upbeat".
The inner sole is removable, so I often add some extra "Dr. Schols" thingie because of chronic back problems. Once they became my very favorite shoe, I somehow could not find them anymore.
Now I order them on-line about 6 weeks before a
Disney trip.

We are also a family that wears New Balance. One of the last companies that the sneaker is made in the USA.

Reebok DMX walking sneakers, you feel like you are walking on pillows!!
