Your Favorite Stops along I-5

I'll be driving by myself (hopefully I get to go on my hopeful trip) and was wondering how long it takes to get from San Jose to DL.

The route my iPhone gives me is 101 to the 152 to the 5.

I'm kinda scared about the thought of driving in LA!

Just go with the flow.

I wanted to let you know that Krispy Kream doughnuts is coming back, it's located next to In-n-out burger.



Santa Nella is 2 hours away from Sacramento. I'ld stop in Kettelman city or, for the more abitious driver, go to Fresno. That would be 4 hours away from Sacramento.

I about did backflips when I saw this. Maybe I'll take a drive to Stockton tomorrow and see if they're open yet.

I'm in Gilroy where you catch the 152 over to the 5. About 5 hours but depends on how many stops you need. No worries about the drive itself. Just make sure you have a plan to keep you awake while on the 5. That is my biggest problem and I typically have 2 other people in the car! No worries about driving in LA. Just don't be in a hurry and think if it as rush hour traffic around SJ. About the same, just in LA there is never a time when you have no traffic.

With the rest stops...my GPS has them as places of interest. I love my Garmin!

I would love it if there was a better way to get through Santa Barbara so I could drive 101 instead! Then I would NEVER have to drive I5. I think except for the bottleneck in SB that 101 would be a much better way to go!

PS I lived in Minden, south of Carson City for about 10 years.
