I really need to add to my playlist. Started working out again and my music is too mellow. I haven't added anything in probably a year. That's how I do it I add a bunch at one time then probably won't again for a year.

So where is the best deal on legal music downloads?

None unless you plan to buy via iTunes, Amazon, etc. Keep an eye out on Amazon as they have a lot of deals where you can download the entire album for 99-cents!

I use iTunes and watch out for deals like during Grammys time they had deals on nominated artists.

I use the Pandora app on my iPhone and listen to it when I'm getting ready (makeup, etc.). I first went to Pandora.com on my computer and set up a few playlists. But if there is a genre name, they probably already have playlists. I just started listening to one called Alternative Endurance mix for working out. This introduces you to new music, and sometimes it's music you have already heard but didn't know the name of it. This way you can take notes and search for that song somewhere, like the public library. Also I have playlists for my favorite artists, and there is music from them, plus other music that Pandora thinks you might like, to add to your collection of what to look for.

My public library offers three free downloads a week from a site called Freegal. The songs on Freegal are all Sony artists, and Sony has hundreds (?) of smaller labels under their umbrella. So if your public library has a website, see if they have the Freegal service. You need to log onto Freegal w/ your library card number, and then you're in. I downloaded a few Adelle songs off of there, Michael Jackson, Pumped up for Kicks, some other stuff that I was just looking around and found them there. It's pretty fun! Good luck!

I am still old school. I prefer to get the CD and rip it. I have purchased from Amazon and had a good experience. Usually though, I just listen to Pandora or Slacker.

Same here. Electronic files are just too vulnerable to going bad. I have CDs and I rip them. That way, I don't have to have 100 backups incase all my electronic equipment goes bad at once.

Had the situation with photos. The secondary hard drive went bad on my computer where the photos were. At the same time, the Windows install on the main drive went wacky and I lost everything on that drive. I was able to painstakenly move from the secondary drive to a new external USB drive as I gained limited access to the bad drive by rebooting the computer over and over again and using a Linux bootable CD. As soon as I got all the photos moved, that external drive went bad (the USB circuit) while moving the last of the files and it corrupted everything on the drive. I have a lot on burn CDs, but the CDs also do not read.

DS is the same way. I like to use either Amazon or Itunes. I don't normally download enough songs by the same artist to make buying a cd cost effective.
