I might be wrong in posting this thread (suppose to post in on Resort board). But I just want to know something as a first-timer who will be going to WDW so soon.

What is your favorite resort?
If you have time, would you please tell me why?

Thanks in advance, Aaron.

My fave resort would probobly be AKL, because my husband and I went there on our honeymoon, and we just loved the whole ambience of the place, it is really beautiful! I also liked Saratoga Springs alot too, it is very beautiful as well, and our room was back in Congress Park, so our balcony overlooked Downtown Disney!

The Polynesian is our favorite; we spent our first six trips there and we have so many great memories. Second place would be the Beach Club; as the kids got older, they wanted to be closer to Epcot and MGM. We will be back there in four weeks!!

WE try to stay at a different resort everytime we go, until we have stayed at all the ones on our list, and so far we have knocked out a lot, but we still have a few to go, like, AKL & Poly. But for the ones we have stayed at, each one brought it's positives.

Honestly, WL would be our favorites if it wasn't for one annoying part, transportation, we were kind of spoiled at several other resorts with the 1st class transportation so when we got to WL we dissappointed that sometimes it would take up to 40 minutes on a boat to go to the MK, but other than that the hotel was AMAZING! The lobby is one of the best if not the best in WDW, the rooms are nice, the pool area is great.

The GF is very nice with really no negatives and would probably me my favorite, The Cont is great and I have never been dissappointed staying there. But for some reason if asked which place I would stay at again, I can't believe I'm saying this after what I've just said, I would stay at the WL again. There's something about the decor and the warmth of the place that keeps me going back there to eat everytime we have gone, and to just walk around.

So long story short my favorite is: THE WILDERNESS LODGE (hands down)

Welcome to the Dis, Aaron :welcome: First times are magically.

We are fans of the Yacht and Beach club.
1) Love the location. You can walk to Epcot (3 minutes top) and to MGM.
2) You have lots of dining choices. Broadwalk is right across the bay, world show case in Epcot plus the resort dining.
3) Great pool. Stromalong bay.
4) Great decor
We some how always end up back here. Wilderness lodge would be a close runner up.

Hi Aaron, welcome!

My favorite has to be the Grand Floridian. It is so beautfiul and laid back type of luxurious. I know a lot of people think it is pretentious but I did not get that feeling in either a regular Garden View room or a concierge suite. We love being able to just step on the monorail and hop to Magic Kingdom. I also love walking down the path to the Poly for a quick dinner or to watch Wishes from the beach. The lobby at the Grand is bautiful, too, and the rooms are great.

Disney has so many wonderful resorts, though. I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you choose!

But for the ultimate WOW factor, I'd say AKL and WL. Woooooooooooow!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that WK and AKL has uber-WOW factor but for location location location ya can't beat the CR. We love it there.

Hi there and welcome :grouphug:

We stayed at the Port Orleans French Quarter resort and it was great.
Small and not to busy, nice accomodation, good location, good transportation links and great staff.
Whatever resort you choose you'll have a great time

:thumbsup2

Welcome! Yeah, this should probably be in the resort boards.

My favorite resorts are the Poly, Port Orleans and Carrib Beach, in that order.

Poly: Great atomsphere, I also love Hawaii! The torch lit lush walkways are so beautiful that I feel like I am back in Hawaii again! I love the spread out layout similar to the Moderates. I feel like I am truly away from from it all and the typical standard upright hotel. The Ceremonial House is awesome, the restaurants are awesome! Great location across from MK. However it is expensive so I stay at the Moderates most of the time.

Moderates are the next best thing to the Poly. Beautifully spread out, great theming! My favorite is the rustic Port Orleans Riverside! I really enjoyed the CBR too! I'll be staying ar POFQ for the first time this year. So that will complete my goal of staying at all the Moderates. :cheer2:

Hands-down, my favorite resort is the Poly. Why?

1. Location----monorail ride to MK, a short walk to the TTC, where you can board a direct monorail to EP.

2. Theming-beautiful, lush landscaping; tiki torches lit during the evening around the paths.

3. Good on-site dining---counter service Capt. Cooks is good, and table service Kona Cafe and 'Ohana are fantastic. (PLUS, if coffee is important to you, Kona blend coffee is great.)

4. Watching "Wishes" from the beach !:goodvibes

Hi and Welcome!!!!
My favorite resort is the POFQ, hands down! It is small, great themeing, good food court, friendly CMs and very romantic!!!! The buses are the best part. POFQ shares them with the POR but, FQ is picked up first in the mornings, and dropped off first at night! After a full day of walking in the parks, it is nice to just have a short ride and shorter walk to that bed!!!!:rotfl:
Have tried the POR, and it is nice too, but very spread out. It is themed well and I like having the ducks around everywhere. The food court is ok and the food is pretty good!
Being that the two resorts are "sister" resorts, you can go back and forth and use the facilities at both.
The gift shop at the POR, is much bigger and carries more than the one at POFQ.
All in all, either one would be good, but as I said, POFQ is my favorite!!!!

mine and my families favourit is Wilderness Lodge. the whole log and outdoors theme just feels warm and welcoming.
also i like any of the Resorts that are in walking distance to DTD.

My family and I have been to disney many of times. I am leaving on the 15th of june for my 20th trip and I am only 23. For the past 10 years or so we have only been staying at the value resorts(All Star Sport, All Star Music, All Star Movies and Pop Century) We like these resorts because 1. they are cheap (and we are very rarely in our rooms except for sleeping and getting ready) 2. they are very family orientated (i have a little brother who is 12) 3. the prices are just right which means you can spend more money elsewhere. Out of all the value resorts my least favorite is Pop just because when we went there in August of 2005, it didn't embrace the "disney theme" meaning it had no mickey mouse pancakes or waffles (my sister was VERY upset) and it didn't have any mickey mouse ice cream bars. Little things like that that makes you realize you truly are in WDW. My parents have said that when my sister and I were younger we stayed other palces but I don't remember any of them. I know for a fact we stayed in the Contemporary, but don't remember it. I'm not knocking down ther other places, but the fact of the matter is, you really are not in your room that much to enjoy the resort.

I read a guidebook which stated that Epcot resorts guests can only reach Epcot via International Gateway; not the main entrance. Is this a problem for anyone? Long hike to Future World? Say, when you reach the Future World some of the attractions waiting lines have increased drastically?

Hi Ron,
From the International Gateway entrance at Epcot, it can be a hike to Future World. But from the main entraince it is a hike to International Gateway, so it's all a wash, really!

The nice thing about the Int'l Gateway entrance is that you are much closer to the majority of the dining venues, and also if you are re-entering the park in the evening for Illuminations.

Of the resorts we've tried (PORS 2003, CBR 2004, CSR 2006,2007) CSR is our favorite. Great pool and pool bar, beautiful grounds and themeing, great food and bars, excellent bus service.:thumbsup2

Of the resorts we've never stayed in, POLY is our dream!:cloud9:

Welcome home, Ron.

My favorite resort is Port Orleans Riverside.

1) I like the theme of the resort. Lots of trees for shade. Also Old Man Island is cool, it has a fishing hole where a person can fish with a cane pole for a small price. Even though it is a big resort, it seems more casual to me...

2) Loads of extra stuff (see above for fishing). It also has a marina, surry bikes, hair wraps for the kids, horse drawn buggys, and most importantly the boat ride to Downtown Disney.

3) The boat to DTD gets a special mention. It is a great way to relax to sit on the boat on see some nature and other things. The captians of the boats a cool also. They are knowlegable of all the things around the river and very funny. The trip takes 20-30 minutes, but it is well worth it.

4) Food. The food court is pretty standerd, but I do love me some Boatwrights Dining Hall. I love pot roast, and thiers is really tender...

5) I am also a fan of quite pools, since I don't like crowded main pools. You are gonna find these at most moderate resorts (POFQ doesn't have them), but I like the ones at POR more then the others.

The only negative thing I don't like is the bus system there. the two times my wife and I have stayed there the buses were always crowded, no matter what time we were on them. During the last trip I sat on the bus twice out of an 8 day stay. The busses are shared between the two Port Orleans resorts. The only good thing was that everyone was very friendly and gave up seats for those who needed them.

I normally stay off property and i have always wanted to stay at the poly and now that i can finally afford to stay there, i am going to do like 3 days, then i check into my vacation resort off site
