You know...the original programs of HBO, Showtime, etc.

I have OnDemand so I can watch anything on HBO, Showtime, Starz, and TMC. I almost through True Blood and just started Nurse Jackie. I already have seen Deadwood, Rome, Big Love, SATC and maybe a few others I am missing. I love anything HBO does.

What else should I be catching up on?

Dexter.

I rented Seasons 1 and 2 and bought Season 3. Now I wish I had Showtime because I'm dying to see Season 4. Love this show.

I'm sure no one knows this HBO show but I loved The #1 Ladies Detective Agency. Season 2 is still in the air but I sure hope they bring it back!

We love Curb your Enthusiasm, Bored to death, and Flight of the Conchords.

I have seen some of Dexter. I love Michael C. Hall from Six Feet Under.

I have actually heard of this one. My friend's mom loves it!

Hung is really good! That totally doesn't sound right....

I have seen the first few of Hung, I need to catch up.

Entourage

A friend of mine loves Weeds.

Loooove Entourage!

Thanks for the ideas! I am definitely going to watch Weeds once Season 1 is posted again. I think they are doing 5 right now.

I follow Secret Diary of a Call Girl, True Blood, Flight of the Concords, Dexter, The Turdors (not the most true fact wise but it has loads of eye candy) and a few others as time allows.

I know I'm dating myself age wise by this response...but the last "Channel own programing" show I liked on HBO was "Shakespeare , the Animated tales" ...:rotfl:

I still think Six Feet Under and Deadwood were the best of the bunch, but I like True Blood.

Deadwood is my all-time favorite. I picked up quite a few cuss words from that show!

I know what you mean! I find myself really liking the Debra character on Dexter, but man does that girl drop some F-bombs and other assorted words. I find myself doing it at work and I have to tell my friend "Geez, I'm watching too much Dexter."

Love Dexter! Huge fan of Six Feet Under as well.

Loved the first few seasons of Weeds and well, just don't love it after the season with the house fire.

I do like Penn & Teller: BS as well.

If you are into it, The L Word or Quick as Folk (word isn't exactly Quick but you should get the idea) can be interesting. I have caught a few episodes of both series.

The Tudors is pretty interesting as well. I did watch a few episodes of Califonrication also-- I sort of liked it but just couldn't get into it.

True Blood and Dexter here, too.

Dexter started off a bit uncomfortable for me, but it didn't take long for me to adore a serial killer. :lmao:

What I really like about Dexter is the characters. They take these people with some series flaws and make them very lovable.

Dexter--serial killer with a heart of gold.
Debra--brash, feisty, tom-boyish, irritating, somewhat floozy cop and you just really feel for her and root for her.
Lt. LaGuerta--vain, egotistical but a real softy underneath.
Vince Matsuko--pervert geek but I just love him.
Angel--started out as a kind of wiseguy, liar to his wife, etc. but enjoying him now.
Quinn--I'm only on Season 3 and I didn't care for him at first but he's growing on me too.

I like how they do this with the characters. I even liked Dokes in the first season. I think they could have done more with him.

I've been saying that it is amazing writing and acting to make a serial killer seem lovable and kind. I know irony is huge theme in the show from the opening shots (blood orange) to the fact that he working in the police force is just so compelling. The what if scenarios are amazing in this show-- and I love each episode.

I was so confused when I starting actually feeling some sort of affection for Dexter. How was that possible, since this guy feels a terrible compulsion to kill people?? Then, quite suddenly, I was watching an episode and I actually screamed, "kill THAT guy!!" I surprised myself!! ;)

But it really does speak to the writing and to the acting. I was very sad to hear that Michael C. Hall was suffering from Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Then, when I saw him at the Golden Globes (he was so thin and pale!), I was really taken aback. I really hope he's going to be ok.
