A couple of Disney live action classics...
The Ugly Dachshund (Dean Jones and Suzanne Pleshette)
Bon Voyage (Fred MacMurray and Jane Wyman)
Monkeys Go Home (Dean Jones and Yvette Mimieux)

I LOVE classic films. Netflix instant watch is great for this though sometimes it's not the best quality. Google the 31 days of Oscars on TCM. They have a specific genere each day of favorite movies. Usually its the month of February.

My choices in no particular order:

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

The Tammy Series(Tammy, Tammy and the Bachelor, Tammy and the Doctor)

Marilyn Monroe (Some Like It Hot, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionare, Seven Year Itch..)

Another vote here for 12 Angry Men. (Oh, and if you want a Disney connection, Juror #2 is played by John Fiedler, the voice of Piglet.) (By the way, I'm talking about the original with Henry Fonda and Lee J. Cobb - I'm sure that's the same version we're all talking about, but there's a later made-for-TV version that's not as good IMO.)

One of my favorite classics that I don't think I've seen mentioned is another Henry Fonda movie, "The Grapes of Wrath."

Lots and lots of good suggestions already made here. I think "Wizard of Oz" and "Singin' in the Rain" have to be on any classic movies must list. And "His Girl Friday" is still one of the greatest of the "screwball comedy-romances." (Practically all of which seem to involve Cary Grant.)

What are some of your favorite classical movies? I have fallen in love with them as of late and am looking for some of your must-see movies. The only genre I am not really fond of is war/military movies.
TIA!popcorn::

The best movie, ever in the history of moviedom. ALL about EVE. starring Bette Davis and Anne Baxter, cameo of a very young Marilyn Monoroe.

The absolute definition of Drama. won 6 oscars. Backstabbing, drama and lots of "witchyness" except with a B

"Fashion your seat belts, it's gonna be a bumpy night"
~Margo, all about eve.

Oceans 11 (the original)
Rear Window
Psycho
Casablanca
Its a Mad Mad Mad Mad World

:thumbsup2

I like Doris Day!

"Please don't Eat the Daisies"
"That Touch of Mink"
"With Six you get Eggroll"
"Lover Come Back"

I am a HUGE James Stewart fan, so anything with him in it, but my favorite all time movie is, "Rear Window"! I love this movie and watch it all the time!

I also love anything with Grace Kelly in it as well..."Dial M For Murder" is another great classic Hitchcock film too! :)

How to Marry a Millionaire
Pillow Talk
The Buddy Holly Story

:)

Great lists posted!

My all time favorite "old" movie:

Twelve Angry Men

It Happened One Nigh, is also a fantastic movie. Quite risque for it's day too!

We were watching Casablanca last night (the Rifftrax'd version...holy heck those guys are funny! Picture Mystery Science Theatre 3000 skewering Casablanca), and I realized that Elsa is a real wench. I mean REALLY. Both dudes shoulda kicked her cheatin' butt to the curb.

The Best Years of our Lives (Harold Russell was amazing in this!)
Forever Amber (I love Linda Darnell and Cornell Wilde)
Penny Serenade (Cary Grant and Irene Dunn)
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (Gene Tierney and Rex Harrison)
Leave her to Heaven ( Cornell Wilde and Gene Tierney)

I think i just love sad stories! all of these actors were so talented. I could watch their films over and over again.

Agree with all the movies listed.

also love old Paul Newman movies Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Hud, The Long Hot Summer

Carey Grant movies - Father Goose etc

Key Largo
Pat and Mike - love Aldo Ray
Adam's Rib
A Mule for Sister Sarah - Clint Eastwood and Shirley Maclean
Heaven Knows Mr. Allison - Deborah Kerr and Robert Mitchum

So many great movies! Do you think that movies now are the same? For me, the new movies don't seem to have the same substance. But maybe I'm not watching the right ones.

I was a teenager the first time I saw "To Sir With Love" with Sidney Poitier. I also loved In The Heat of The Night, Raisin in the Sun and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.

Wow! Great suggestions...I've actually seen The Night of the Iguana. I had a whole semester of Tennessee Williams. I loved Streetcar and Cat, too. I love To Kill a Mockingbird- one of the few movies that does a book justice
Rear Window and Hitchcock- I got the Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection for Xmas and am loving it.
Charade- Also got it for Xmas. Hadn't seen it for a long time. Great movie. Dyle?
I just love the look of classy look of the women in the old movies and the handsome men, too.:lovestruc
I appreciate horror and suspense from a time when you had to rely on a good story rather than over the top special effects.
