I'm a fan of the first week of May. All kids are still in school, including college. It's warm but not brutally so. Crowds are good.

Is it brutally hot last week in August? That's a great week vacation-wise, but am just not sure about the heat and storms.

Yes ::yes::.

We spent the last week of August 2012, the last week of August 2013, and the last two week of August 2014 in Orlando. Its VERY hot, and VERY humid. This past year, it was over 100 degrees with the humidex virtually every single day.

We split our two-week trip between the last week of January and first week of February - it was completely fabulous; Splash was only down for part of our trip, the crowds were very low, and although it wasn't 'hot' it certainly felt nice and warm compared to our Saskatchewan winter!

We love end August....and I guess I'm glad that lots of people don't. :goodvibes

I personally don't dislike August (obviously....we went three years in a row :rotfl:) but the OP specifically said her "DH hates heat". If that's the case, August would be a very bad choice.

Yes, I would totally try last week in August for the advantage of low crowds and our kids still out of school, but no way DH would go for it. Especially if its super crazy hot vs just summer hot like we get back home.

Since this post, we ended up booking a cruise for our next trip, but not until April 2016. So we'll have to see after that when we go since we need to space out these kind of big trips (i.e. since they cost $$$). Thus, the next potential trip to Disney World (or Disneyland) wouldn't likely be until say late 2017 or 2018. By then our DS will be in grade 6, so not sure we'd pull him out of school at that point (I'd be ok but probably not DH). I so want to go back sometime (and we promised them we would) so not sure if we'd give March break a try or Christmas (but crowds must be insane never mind the price increase during busy season). So complicated.

I've done late September (rain) and early November (can get chilly at night) so I'd like to try October.

I voted March. Caveat that I am a huge baseball fan. So I can go there and the weather is just starting to warm there, I can go to spring training games and go to the parks.

Its not on your poll, but Nov is my favorite. great weather low crowds. I find the week before Thanksgiving to be the best.

We also like beginning of Jan

We went the first week of May for several years when the girls were in elementary school. The crowds were good and the weather was great. Also, I would rather take my kids out of school towards the end of the year when the workload isn't as crazy as the first two months of school.

We never had an issue taking them out the first of May. It was harder the years we took them out in Sept/Oct.

I've gone in mid to late January the past 5 times and always enjoyed it. Practically no crowds, temps around 70 (better than 20 here in NY!), easy to get into all restaurants, SUPER cheap hotel rooms.

Splash is my favorite, and sometimes it's open, sometimes it's closed for refurb. Last time we went it was open, this time it's not. But you can look into that ahead of time.

Only con to late Jan. early Feb. is construction. Right now there's a crane behind the castle (every year) and construction walls all around the hub (just this year). So it's about what is important to you.

Id say Nov-Dec but since its not there I'd go Oct. It can be cool but not to cold. It should have some nice decorations for Halloween and you can still find low crowds. I only have done dl in oct but it was a lot of fun.
I wouldn't do summer at all in dl or wdw unless i am going with my dad. He likes summer trips I do not.

We like to go at the end of Sept/first week of October. It is pretty hot during the day but the evenings/nights are cooler. The crowds are pretty low and just about every ride/attraction is open.

We went in January last year and it was awful (had that polar vortex come through) so temps were in the 40's and 50's during the day and dropped into the 30's at night. We had one 2 hour window of time that we were able to wear shorts and the kids got to go in the pool. The rest of the time we were in winter jackets and hats. One of my favorite rides (Splash Mtn) was closed for refurb and the tour groups were EVERYWHERE and they were loud and didn't care about cutting lines, pushing past you, walking in front of you trying to take a picture, etc.

I found the wait times to be long and it was pretty crowded.

We will never go in January again. Back to Sept/Oct for us. :)

That sounds a lot like when we went in February. We are from Michigan and it was cold here, but it was cold enough down there that we had to wear pants, sweatshirts and heavy jackets 95% of our trip and we never did get to swim.
