Mine are....

The Spitfire Grill.

Hotel New Hampshire

:) :) :) Note to Self: Check out "The Spitfire Grill" and "Hotel New Hampshire"

The first movies that come to mind are "Mostly Martha" and "Lovely and Amazing." Definite "chick" films, but I really enjoyed both of them. ;)

"Who's Minding the Mint?" and "Midnight Madness" - both hysterical old movies.:D

"29th Street" No one has ever seen it, but it's so good!

I love Midnight Madness!!! So much so that I bought it!!

My favorite obscure movie is "Watch It" :)

"J-Men Forever" from the folks that brought you Firesign Theatre is my favorite. They used to show it nearly every week on the USA Network program Night Flight. After trying to get a decent copy of this movie for nearly 20 years, it finally came out on DVD a few months back.

Who's Minding The Mint is a classic as well.

Our local access channel on cable keeps playing the film "The Wild Women of Wongo" (made in 1958 at Silver Springs in Ocala, Florida). I haven't managed to catch the entire 2 hours of cinematic excellence yet, but I'm sure that sooner or later I'll manage to see the whole thing. Here's a review that I found on the internet:

THE WILD WOMEN OF WONGO is so bad it almost has to be seen to be believed. It includes some hilarious tribal dances (with some heavy gyrating), a hungry alligator, wild women, and sexually unsatisfied male tribe members. It seems the guys aren't pleased with their shapeless prehistoric wives and turn to the Wongo-ettes for some fun.

Untamed maidens capture their mates!

Savage in battle... primitive in love... prehistoric beauties live by the code of the jungle!

A must see movie. :teeth:

Scavenger Hunt....:teeth:

Clifford. It came out in the mid-90's (?), it stars Martin Short, Charles Grodin, and Mary Steenburgen. It is such a stupid, ridiculous movie but my friend and I are obsesed with it lol. It never fails to crack us up.

Grinningghost, I loved "Who's Minding the Mint" - I had such a crush on Jim Hutton when I was young. That instantly reminded me of "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World." Maybe not completely unknown, but most of the younger generation I know have never seen it NOR had they even heard of it! Very sad!

The most unknown movie I loved the most was "Anne of the Thousand Days" about Anne Bolyen and King Henry VIII. I must have watched it 1,000 times.

The Dish-if you were around on July 20, 1969 and had an interest in the Apollo moon landing, you will love this gem of a movie. It stars Sam Niell and is the story of how the residents of a small town in Australia helped the world see the moon landing.

The Russia House - beautiful music, great story line and beautiful scenery. We watch it over and over and...

Shall We Dance - Japanese movie with subtitles. Terrific movie - I think it shows the real Japan. All the characters are likeable. You forget that you are reading subtitles.

"Who's Minding the Mint?" and "Midnight Madness" - both hysterical old movies.

I just looked up Midnight Madness last night because I LOVED this movie! I couldn't remember the title of it, just that Eugene the nerd was in it. Anyone know if it is on DVD yet? I would really love to see it again.

One of my all time favorite movies that I haven't heard many talk about is, Holiday Heart. I watched it a dozen times on tv and finally ran across it at Walmart so I bought it. This movie made me fall in love with Ving Rhames and I've been a big fan since. I'll watch anything he's in now.

"Midnight Madness" is available on DVD. I've seen it in Media Play and borrowed it from the public library too.

I love this movie.Beautiful and endearing characters. Only thing is I think they are remaking it with J-Lo.

Another great foreign and somewhat unknown film is "Raise the Red Lantern". Very Poetic Filming.

I love this topic.. my only problem is I have so many unknown film favourites....I will leave it at one.. for now:teeth:

I'm with KDawnLily...I have quite a few unknown favorites, many of them are foreign movies.
"Shall We Dance" is definately one of my faves!

Suzannen, My Dad took us to see "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World" many times! That movie brings back such good memories for me.

More later!

Powder. It's about a teenage boy, bald, albino, and with superhuman powers who becomes an object of fear and an object of curiosity in his small town.

Being a long time comic book collector and reader, I especially found it interesting. It touched on themes of fear vs. acceptance that have been explored in The X-Men and other super-hero comics, but not really in the movie adaptations. Not an action movie, but one that makes you wonder "is this how we would react if there were someone with superhuman abilities?"
