Your favorite hotel & why near DL

HoJo has small balcony's that are private. At least in the 2 story building's. I cannot think of another that does...

We stay at a hotel that most DISers I think detest lol

I love staying at the Eden Roc Innand Suites here is why:

I can get a room with 2 queens for 55 a night, I am on the corner of West and , that gives me a 2-5 min drive to M&F lot or a 7-10 Min walk and scoot (I drive and ECV) to the main gate. :thumbsup2

I can get a 2 bedroom suite with a full kitchen and dining area for 67 a night, that sleeps 6 comfortably.:dance3:

They have a pool, so far the staff has been nothing but accomodating to us each time we have stayed there (I think by the end of the year it will be 5 stays...:scratchin)

They have a little grab and go breakfast of pastries and coffee, perfect for the quick drive over to the park. Plus there are two resturants next door and across the street. It has always been quiet, but pretty filled, no resort fee and no parking fee! :cool1:

Some people have complained about the standards in the rooms, there is a refridgerator, microwave, tv, pleanty of outlets, free wifi, phone, ac/heater, and ample outlets to charge all of your gizmos over night. The beds are comfortable to me, but I could say the blankets are a little thin (I always bring a blanket from home in the car to sleep anyways so sometimes I throw it on the bed if needed). Beds, linens, towels, and carpets have always been clean, no bugs, hair or other particles left behind.

They also always meet my requests and I never have been disappointed. So for everyone that thinks its dump, fine, dont stay, more cheap rooms for us! :rotfl2:

NYC?, yes, airport to hotel one and half blocks from the Met-building for meetings. Boston, Seattle, Portland, San Fransisco? Yes, lots of street/downonthierluck people, especially around the waterfront areas. Even out in flyovercountry/Tulsa or Kansas City, a number of the same especially in the downtown areas. Usually in the past we have not had any problems while in the disney park area. But, when the street people step in front of you on the sidewalk asking for money, it is problem. What's next? Beggers and/or protestors going down the lines of people waiting for the turnstyles to open at DL? After all, this area could be seen as a common/public area for anyone. Most of these people are just attempting to get by as they can but, as posted by several others some of these people are not. The problem is getting worse. The times, they are a changing. Remember to take time to RELAX....:cool1:

I guess I want my kids to always know how lucky they are to get to go to Disney, something way out of reach for millions of American children. It never hurts for them to be reminded of that-and gosh, I've never felt unsafe for a second at Disney.

We like BWPPI for the location, Hojo for the kids water play area. Trying Desert Inn this trip-we'll see how that is.

I agree, our sons have friends that have not went to DL and may never go. This is partly due to the expense of going to DL. For us, travel to and from DL is an expense that is the deciding factor in many of our trips. Add the costs of travel, hotel, meals, and park admission, it does add up. The same goes for school sports, they are expensive. We stay at DLH when we get time and money. We use all of the facilities of the DLH while we are there. If we were going for just a couple days and all we wanted was a simple motel room to sleep in, we would probally stay at the Tropicanna. Having made quick trips years ago for a weekend, it was okay. Clean, good beds, & good shower as well as inexpensive at the time. Our family is a lot larger now so traveling is a major part of going to DL. Due to that we try to go for at least six days at a time and make use of everything available we are paying for. Our sons are aware of this and due contribute to the DL vacation fund when they can in thier own ways....:cool1:

We stayed at the DLH in June of 11 and enjoyed ourselves completely (except for the price!) We are headed back in March and have reservations at the Hyatt Regency OC in a 2 queen suite for $2400 (four nights and 4 adult Disney tickets included), at the DLH we would need two rooms and the same package would cost over $5,000---- I am not a cheap skate and have not stayed off property for a Disney trip since 1977 in Florida, but come on, DOUBLE the price?????

$2500 is a huge difference, plus it is March, so the DLH pools will be closed.

Just curious....Why would you need to get two rooms for four people? Where did you find out the DLH pools are closed in march? Just wondering....We have stayed at the DLH with four numerous times and with five a couple times and never needed two rooms. Also we have stayed at the DLH in june, sept, oct, dec, march, and april and the pool has always been open( with excption to the construction last year). I hope you enjoy the Hyatt, the are usually nice hotels....

I was at the DLH last November, having a cocktail outside at Trader Sam's, and the pool was open. It was 80 degree's. That's the beauty of SoCal, the weather can go either way in the winter......
I do not believe that the pools close in the winter, unless maybe it's raining... someone correct me, if I'm wrong....:flower3:

Lori

I have never heard of them closing in winter or spring or..unless there is a problem or remodel.

Last Thanksgiving weekend we stayed @ Stovall's Best Western *$65 per night
Walking along Disneyland Drive, cutting through the Grand *anyone can enjoy that lovely lobby* and Downtown Disney to get to the parks was fantastic!

Totally agree with Best Western Stovall's Inn. We'll be there for our third time this October. It's a less than 10 minutes walk if you cut throuhg the Grand Californian, rooms are nice, complimentary breakfast (good if you want to grab something for snacks), and two large pools.

It is now a Best Western Plus hotel so price have increase a bit

The pool at all the hotels in California are open year round.

2009 & 2010 I went swimming on christmas morning, both times people came into the pool area to make sure they were not seeing things. Both times I was asked "How is the water?". I told them great. They could not believe the pool was open. There is a reason why a lot of people spend Christmas at disney....:cool1:

Although it seems to be one of the least favorite for Harbor Blvd hotels, The Anaheim Plaza is a great deal, within walking distance, and has small private balconies with some rooms.

We are staying there in Oct for 7 nights. I hope it is not to bad. I have heard both but when we could get it for $40 a night thru our friend I couldn't turn it down.

I don't have a fav per se but we just stayed at the ramada maingate and it was clean with friendly staff. The pool was nice. Breakfast was ok wouldn't stay there for the breakfast. close to park and had a little store attached with a pizza place and a discount ticket place that sells art passes too. I would recommend it to friends and would stay again. Free wifi. I had a deluxe room which I think just means we had queen beds but the rooms were big. Bonus the sink was outside the bathroom. We have stayed at the fairfield years ago and it was nice no breakfast if that is important and a small pool in the parking lot basically. I can't afford on site with 4 kids but we can take them if we stay off site. I saw three beggers and we gave them money it is a life lesson for kids. we go to vancouver often and the pan handlers are EVERYWHERE so my kids are used to it. We were there when there were protesters wasn't a big deal. I don't shelter the kids.

Daughter has stayed there twice, we were there last Christmas time. The rooms were clean and huge. We had a refrigerator and microwave but I've heard some people had to request them. (We didn't but had the 2 connecting rooms that they call a family suite or something).

Short easy walk, you are across from TOT.
