Not wanting to blow the budget, I want to get recommendations before I buy a game for the DS that DH bought me for my bday (I think he bought it b/c he wanted it LOL). I love online games like scrabble, soduko, jepordy, bejewled, word womp. What are your favorites for DS?

P.s. I'll share my favorite video game budget tip...HALF.COM OMG I got some great deals on there for DS3...Nemo, Cars, Dora, Little Einsteins.

from DS3:

He thinks that smile looks like Wubbzy.

If you like puzzle games Peggle is great and addictive - when my 8 year old lets me borrow it. I believe it's a pop cap game. I love Rune Factory, pokemon, puzzle quest, the world ends with you, age of empires, princess peach.

I really enjoyed Dinner Dash on my DS and Fire Emblem.

Cake Mania is good too ~ and Mario Party DS if very fun, esp. if you can play it with others :goodvibes

Have fun!!!

i am an old school kind of gal. tetris is my fav. i play it for hours!

Proffessor Layton and the Curious Village. It has a story line and you solve puzzles and riddles to move the story along.

For Mysteries I liked Hotel Dusk Room 215 and the Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney games. I really enjoyed the story of Hotel Dusk.

Puzzle Quest Challenge of the Warlords. Its a simple puzzle game similar to Bejewled with an RPG twist.

Pokemon pearl or diamond is fun.

Mario Kart

Brain Age games are good. Brain Age 1 has sudoku on it.

I am currently playing Dragon Quest V Hand of the Heavenly Bride. Its very good if you like adventure/fantasy turn based style combat games. Similar to Chrono Cross or Final Fantasy's.

Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure looks interesting but I haven't tried it yet. Has recieved good reviews on Gamespots website.

My favorites are Brain Age and Club House Games. Club House has over 100 games on it. Crosswords is a lot of fun too.

but bejeweled is supposed to come out on ds this year!! its my favorite game, love it! i play brain age, and mario kart is classic.

I also enjoy Millionheir [can't play for a long time though]...it's like an I spy.

Lego Batman, Star Wars and Indiana Jones. I think they provide just enough action to keep me entertained but it's not super difficult. Give them a try they are so much fun.

Touchmaster I and Touchmaster II
Jewel Quest
All of the Mario games
...believe it or not, I even get a kick out of M&M Break 'Em :)

I'm a puzzle person...although I've gotten pretty good at helping the kids with theirs. So I've mastered everything from Barbie to My Little Pony.

I love zoo tycoon LOL. I also love brain age.

You know...if you delete a section of the cage with an animal in it, they chase down the zoo guests and they run away screaming. Kind of funny.

I love Professor Layton and the Curious Village. I was sad when I got to the end.

Henry Hatsworth is fun, but not what I was expecting. It is sort of like Mario meets Bejeweled or something. You're on an adventure and having to shoot things, jump on things, etc. (like Mario) and meanwhile, a screen similar to Bejeweled is building in the lower half and when you get enough points or when it gets too high, you get taken into the Bejeweled like game to play that for a bit. And then it pops back into the regular adventure.

Mechanic Master is fun. You're building contraptions (using gears, pulleys, etc.) to do things. It applies physics methods to it.

I tried The World Ends With You and didn't like it. My teens are playing it now and they love it.

I also like Pogo island and Brain Age for the variety of little games/quizes they offer.

Kingdom Hearts comes out with a DS version the end of September. I can't wait.

we buy used games at gamestop for $4, so you can try many games and sell your old ones.

We play Professor Layton too although I find it a bit slow at times. I also weirdly like Animal Crossing.

However, I'm super-psyched there is a new Mario game coming soon. It's something along the lines of Mario and Luigi Inside Bowser? I've already put it on my Christmas list for DH. :woohoo:

Civilization.

In a nutshell, it's a worldbuilding game that's been around for the PC since the mid 90's and is now on the xbox and ds platforms as well.

You basically build and run your world playing any of a number of powerful historical leaders.

No, it's not dry like Risk, it's really cool (I usually play as Queen Isabella) :).

wow, i need to shop at your gamestop. at our gamestop DS games are at least $20. I found a few old nintendo games for 8-9$

So tell me.... I play games online all the time...hearts, peggle, lottso, and many others.... would I like having a DS?
I know all the kids love them- am I understanding that adults do also?
Do tell! :)

I have a few of my own games for the ds (civilization, etc), that I use on the kids' ds's when they're not using them. They almost got me one for my birthday, but I said, nah, just let me borrow yours (this is the budget board, and I do try to be frugal when I can). However, if I didn't have the kids' ds's, I'd definitely want my own. With the new DSi, you should be able to pick up a gently used DS lite (the ones my kids have) for a good deal.
