Hi, I'm in search of affordable and comfortable contact lenses.

I used Ultra Flex previously, but I had frequent irritation. At my exam, my doctor suggested trying some daily lenses. I liked the idea, but not the cost factor. I also got a sample of some hydrating lenses. These were Acuvue. I didn't have any irritation with these, but I didn't feel like they were all that comfortable. And with the daily ones, they are so expensive, I would only be able to use them once in a while in combination with a regular, longer wear lense.

So, I think I'm gonna keep looking. I might want to try Focus Dailies. Anyone like those? They are a bit more affordable than Acuvue's daily lenses.

What do you wear and like? What have you tried and hated? I know all eyes are different, but maybe there's a great brand that a lot of people like with good reason.

Thanks!

I have the Acuvue's - to me these are the best regardless of the cost. I used a different variety a couple of years ago but can't recall the name. The Acuvue's are very comfortable and I mostly forget they are there. In fact, (don't tell my doctor) I sometimes sleep in them more often than I should.
Bad habit I know!

I wish I could sleep in lenses! They superglue themselves to my eyes - ouch! Which type of Acuvue lenses do you have?

I've got Acuvue Oasys. My doctor says I can wear them 2-4 weeks. 4 weeks seems to be fine. They were about $25 a box at Sam's club for non toric and $35 a box for toric. Not too shabby..... They are comfortable and a new material that hydrates better.

I'm looking into buying soft contact lenses too. Researching. I've heard that Wal-Mart has good prices, but I don't know what brand I'll go with. I wasn't too happy with what I was wearing. I've been wearing my glasses all the time lately. If I had comfortable contacts I'd use them.

I may get the weekly or monthly contacts. I have had the monthly before and they seemed reasonably priced.

Hi

your eyes sound like mine. We tried many kinds before I had to go with dailies. Mine are Acuvue Moist 1-day wear lenses. I can't sleep in mine even for a nap or they get glued to my eyes.

Some others that I tried were one month wear lenses. They were called Proclear. I used those for 6 months. Doctor said they were better than others but still wanted me in dailies.

I don't have astigmatism, but I have GPC (I think) and dry eyes. My eyes are a study case for my doctor.

HOpe you find some that work for you. Being budget minded, I have a hard time throwing lenses away everyday!! BUT I do. My eyes are important. I now wear my glasses about 3 days a week to cut down on lense cost. My prescription is high -8.00 in contacts.

HTH.

I just got the Acuvue Adavnce w/Hydraclear. Doctor gave me the one day lenses to try - didnt like them, dried my eyes out. He gave me what he says was the acuvue hydraclear -- thought they were great when I was "test driving" them. Then I went and bought a years supply (mostly covered by insurance!!) and now Im not crazy about them. Im not sure if the ones I tried were the same thing and he thought he gave me those? But these are supposed to last up to 2 weeks. I dont wear them every day and if I can get 2 weeks out of them Im lucky (not wearing them all the time!). They dry my eyes out and are irritated easily.

I tried a couple of Accueview ones and hated them, luckily I liked the cheap ones best! LOL! The eye doctor should keep giving you a free pair until you find one you like, so try different ones out and see what feels best to you!

I use Accuvue 2 or Accuvue Oasys. I tried other brands and they wind up irritating my eyes or I keep having to rewet them and it drives me crazy to do that constantly.

I was using the Accuvue Oasis before (the ones you can wear about 3 weeks or so), and was never really happy with them. I am easily bothered by allergies and no matter what half way through the day my eyes would be red and itchy.

This time my doctor put me on ProClear dailies. Though I don't really like the cost too much, my eyes haven't bothered me at all. They feel much healthier. As much as I'm concerned about cost, with contacts you really need to focus on eye health. I too try to wear my glasses a few days to extend my lenses.

I just switched to Acuvue Oasys with hydraclear and I love them. I forget they are even in. With my old contacts (SofMed) I had to rip them out as soon as I got home from work (11 hours) and with Acuvue I can wear them 17hours without even wanting to take them out.

I also use the Acuvue Oasys with hydroclear plus. I love them. Over the years, I have worn contacts that irritated my eyes. They were simply uncomfortable. The Acuvue lenses have been great. I started wearing them about four (4) months ago. No more dry eye, irritations, and I can't even tell I have them on. I usually wear them between 12 and 15 hours a day, and they never bother me. Before this, I had all but given up on wearing contacts.:goodvibes

I wore Focus Weekly for years and never had a problem. At the urging of an optometrist at an appointment 2 years ago, I switched to Accuvue. DH has worn Accuvue for years and liked them, so I thought - why not? It turns out that I'm allergic to them for whatever reason, and could not wear them for more than a day at a time. If I did, my eyes would get really red and I would have to wear glasses for 3 days and then start the whole process all over again. Needless to say, I am back to using Focus and have not had a problem since.

I have been wearing contacts for about 12 years. 10 1/2 of them I was wearing Acuvue 2 and last October my eye doctor "updated" me to Acuvue Advance w\Hydraclear. I LOVE THEM!! I don't know what I would do without them. To me, wearing my glasses are torture, I hate them. I buy them at BJ's Optical for about $18.00 per box.

I have really dry eyes and wanted contacts for a recent vacation that I knew I would be snorkeling.
I went to costco and got 1 day acuvue MOIST and they have worked great for me. I bought a box for each eye and use them whenever the mood strikes me. I just recall it was cheap, like 35 or so.

So now, does anyone ORDER them online anywhere? I have my script and I no longer belong to costco, moved to BJ's and they too might have something but would just like to "do it online" if I can. ANYONE??

I have been wearing Focus Night and Day for years. I put them in on the 1st of the month and leave them in for the whole month. I even sleep in them. I don't even own a pair of glasses anymore. They are the best thing since sliced bread! I don't get dry eyes from these and no irritation. The only times I have ever had a problem is if I try to stretch out a few days after it was time to change them. I would recommend them to anyone.

I have O2 Optix and love, love, love them! They are disposables (2 weekers, I think) and are breathable. I don't have any problems with dry eyes, I sleep with them, swim with them. I don't even know they're in until I've gone a little too long with them (I know, I know, bad thing!). :)

You can order online at Wal-Mart, I think. I saw where they have teamed up with 1-800-contacts too. It looked like they have a check out for lenses.

I think I'll go with them once I've made up my mind.
