Your Favorite Bag to Take to the Parks?

The SwissGear Vertical Travel Bag. Oh. My God. I bought it at Target for less than $30 before spending 5 days at DLR with my DBF earlier this month. It ended up being hands down the best theme park bag I've ever used in my life.

It's a small vertical nylon shoulder bag with an ample, single strap long enough to wear across your neck. It is, indeed, a TARDIS. It seems so small yet is enormous inside and full of pockets and zips, including two front zippers pockets (one with a headphones pass-through), two rear open pockets (perfect for maps and Times Guides), a full-size rear zipper compartment (for stowing larger items), and an equal-sized front zipper compartment full of smaller zipper compartments for sundry items.

Using it was a dream come true--no more backpack on Space Mountain for me. It was very light and unobtrusive around my neck and fit on everything I rode (and we rode a lot) at DL and DCA with no problem. At its most stuffed (usually when we needed to stow hats/glasses for fast rides), the bag comfortably fit two soda bottles, two pairs of eyeglasses, a tube of sun screen, a small bottle of Advil, two Disney baseball caps, my yarmulke, my house keys, a couple of pairs of socks, several extra plastic ziploc bags and napkins, and various park maps, with room for more. A compact umbrella and a a couple of folded-up rain ponchos would have easily fit.

Plus, it doubled as our at-seat carry-on (we flew from Chicago), holding two Nooks, all our trip tickets/vouchers, and on the way back, a bunch of candy from Penny Arcade. I would definitely recommend this bag!

Whoever recommended signing up on VB's website -- ugh. So mean.

I signed up a few days ago.

Just now got an email for $20 off any purchase over $75.

First let me say it's been great checking out everyone's ideal park bags. I appreciate all the recommendations, even the ones that aren't my style, and I've found several bags I'd love to try one day.

This is my current park bag:

It might not be the most stylish looking, but it has all the functions I need and it has held up great!

I sometimes use a Baggallini Urban Backpack if I'm traveling light. I love that you can wear it backpack style or re-clip the straps and switch off sides if you just want to wear it over one shoulder. I hate that it doesn't have a dedicated water bottle pocket though.

I bought a larger hobo style Baggallini, but the strap totally ruined one of my favorite shirts by turning anywhere it touched into a pilly mess. Maybe just bad luck on that particular style, but I've been very cautious of Baggallini's since then.

And I just have to ask... am I the only one horrified by the thought of calling attention to my bootie by adding tons of ruffles, and in fanny pack style no less? This one is definitely not my style.

Kudos to those of you who can pull it off though!

Just got back from Target and checked this bag out and had to buy it.
Came home and put the tablet and kindle in it and there is plenty of room for so much more. I can see that everything listed above will fit in there with no problem.

I cannot wait to really take it somewhere!! Normally have used a baggalini or a travelon but this seems so much better.

Thanks for the recommendation. :thumbsup2

I was about to spend $38 on a crumpler draw string for my camera, and a new purse, after reading this thread. Fortunately I was distracted by my messy kitchen. As I was cleaning it I noticed my unused soft cooler style lunch box on top of the fridge. It's the perfect size for my camera, soft, extra padding, easy to keep clean, and small enough to fit in most of my purses. Not saying I won't still buy a new bag for Disney..I'm drooling over the Baggalinis and Vera Bradleys after reading this post.

Anyway, if you don't have one of these bags, they are $10 at walmart. So excited about this find, now I will carry my Nikon with my more in general, not just at Disneyland. Woohoo! :cool1:

Sorry I missed this. Just popping in to say you're welcome!

I haven't used this one yet, but I think it's going to work good. I love the crossbody style.

I also like the cross body letter carrier style purse. keeps everything handy, safe and close. I did just get the new IASW Lesportsac Voyager backpack for our upcoming trip :dance3:. It was a mothers day gift! We have durable medical equipment to haul around so i think it will be perfect to hold it all, plus it is super cute!

I've used my Baggallini bag - London style - several times to DL and WDW and love it!

http://www.amazon.com/Baggallini-Lu...=1368825295&sr=8-1&keywords=baggallini+london

It's nylon, long strap so it's a great crossbody bag, two pouches on the outside which are a perfect size for my camera and cell, good organizational space inside, and I usually add a carbiner on the strap so I can carry a water bottle. I.Love.This.Bag!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this recommendation! This bag looks and feels fantastic and is exactly the kind of bag I had been searching for. I can't wait to try it out in the parks in August!

Now THIS one is cute! : )

Check out the Vera Bradley crossbody bags. I bought one last summer (the Hipster) and it was great (soooo great) as my Dland trip bag. I paid $49.99 but some of the fabrics can cost $60.00. It is v light weight as it is made from quilted cotton. And it is also cooler than my synthetic backpack or my regular leather purse - both of which become too hot and sticky during a summer visit. Also I was never worried about getting the Vera B bag wet on GRR or Splash. It dried v quickly and looked no worse at all for the wear. It has lots of nice zipper pockets inside and out and a very comfortable shoulder strap. Plus there are lots of fabric patterns to choose from to match what every wardrobe mood you might be in. I love that purse, and it is my go-to vacation bag.

I ended up getting one of these on clearance at the mall, I think it is yellow and blue. The designs are a little too much for me. But I got it based on your recommendation and I am glad it has a lot of zippers. Thanks for the info! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I am pooh sized, and most of that in my torso. I would love a cross body bag, but they usually end up hanging right under my "girls". Not a good look.
Do any of these bags have really long straps?

Edited. I was censored and hopefully "girls" will work...

I just bought my second baggalini for the parks.

http://www.amazon.com/Baggallini-Sydney-Silver-Hardware-Size/dp/B002VW68H

I bought one last year and liked it so much, I pretty much use it year round (yes, my coach bags and Brighton bags have been taking a back seat).

Just beware, it is water resistant but my iPhone still died while instead my bag after going on splash mountain. Still need to bring a Baggie to put your phone and camera in.

But, it is lightweight and stores alot. I don't use backpacks anymore...hate carting everything around...so we do still usually get a locker to go in and out of for sweatshirts if needed.
