1. Sophie Kinsella
2. Lisa Scottoline-although her books are starting to all mesh together in my mind
3. Laura K. Hamilton-she writes a good vampire/fairy book, if you canget past all the innuendo and ahem ahem parts.

There's also a whole slew of lesser known authors who generally write in the horror genre. These include Dennis Etchison, Michael McDowell, Richard Matheson (RIP), Robert Bloch and R. Chetwynd Hayes (a British author who I suspect may be deceased as well). I love them all and hate to not mention them.

No way I could pick just three, reading through all of the posts, I would say that I agree with everyone, and could add even more. (Sorry, I read a lot, about 2 books per week). Basically any fiction (except sci-fi) and I like all of the books!

I'd say Dickens is my favorite.

I love Rowling, Salinger, and Steinbeck (wrote TWO of the best works ever).
