Your favorite 3 authors?

C S Lewis
Lawrence Block
Barbara Michaels

But my favorite book of all time is I Capture the Castle by another author, Dodie Smith.

Wait, who wrote the original 101 Dalmations?? ( A GREAT book, btw.)
(Called something else, Twilight Bark, or some at...)

Why does the name Dodie Smith really REALLY ring a bell with me???

It's hard to pick just three! My very favorite author is Ken Follett. I also like Nelson DeMille & Maeve Binchy. And J.K. Rowling. And...well, I could go on & on. :teeth:

This is hard. I don't think I can just pick 3. In no particular order-

1. Sophie Kinsella
2. Lisa Scottoline-although her books are starting to all mesh together in my mind
3. Laura K. Hamilton-she writes a good vampire/fairy book, if you canget past all the innuendo and ahem ahem parts.

1. Stephen King
2. Agatha Christie
3. Lillian Jackson Braun

There's also a whole slew of lesser known authors who generally write in the horror genre. These include Dennis Etchison, Michael McDowell, Richard Matheson (RIP), Robert Bloch and R. Chetwynd Hayes (a British author who I suspect may be deceased as well). I love them all and hate to not mention them.

James Patterson and Nora Roberts are may favorites now, I'll have to throw in Stephen King's books pre-1990. I think his new stuff is terrible.

Sorry....Gotta butt right in here....

My given name is Laurel. Not Laura. Or Laurie/Lauri...Not even Lauren.

Laurel.

Not read a single thing by Laurel K Hamilton....

Yet she's LAUREL> etc etc.

We gotta stick together....goofy as heck, I know....but she's NOT Laura....OK????!

Stephen King
Garrison Keilor
Harper Lee

No way I could pick just three, reading through all of the posts, I would say that I agree with everyone, and could add even more. (Sorry, I read a lot, about 2 books per week). Basically any fiction (except sci-fi) and I like all of the books! :flower:

This is impossible for me. A lot of my favorite authors wrote ONE great book (Harper Lee).

I'd say Dickens is my favorite.

I love Rowling, Salinger, and Steinbeck (wrote TWO of the best works ever).

And yes, Dodie Smith wrote 101 Dalmations. 'I Capture the Castle' is just fabulous.

Impossible, I say! :teeth:

I agree...with most, though my single #1 favorite book is Watership Down....and #2 is so many others...

Please go find anything by Nancy Collins.. underrated but WONDERFUL...old new....

She's worth my time to read. I LOVE to read....NC makes me happy to read it...

Sonja Blue was the inspiration of the movie series "Blade" and "Underworld" and a much better idea that was just ignored.....

Read Midnight Blue and later......

Nancy Collins rules/rocks/owns the genre.....

wow.

James Patterson

J A Jance(actually got to meet her)

John Grisham

Oh yes. Watership Down! I loved the moment when I realized I understood 'Rabbit Speak' and I didn't have to look the 'words' up!
