Has anyone had any good dining experiences w/ peanut allergies at any chain type of restaurants? Where to avoid?
Is outback steakhouse ok?
Suggestions please, we RARELY eat out (really only in Disney and at Italian restaurants my father supplies, as he knows what is in their kitchens). Fiance's family wants to go out to eat this weekend and I can't seem to find a place to go.

I go anywhere I want (except places that throw peanut shells on the floor). I just make sure I inform the server when we are seated about my and my daughter's allergies, and make sure we don't order anything that may have nuts or contacts with nuts.

Panera's is especially good.

Panera's is especially good.

I was traveling for a conference and, ironically, Panera's was one the best places I found for finding safe food for lunch. Ironic because I am gluten intolerant. They are able to tell you what is in all their food items and will adapt them, if needed/possible.

We have a peanut allergy and celiac in our family. We have found Outback to be good, Pei Wei and PF Chang's also adapt and Legal Seafoods.

Bad places - Cheescake factory, Moe's - neither place seemed to know their ingredients and the website was also not helpful. Moe's has improved the website - but they have gluten in all their meats - assuming marinades.

Disney is the absolute best!!!! Also have good luck at very high end restaurants, if they letus speak to the chef.

We go everywhere. I haven't been anywhere that hasn't accomodated us. But most places (in my experience) don't seem to use a lot of nuts anyway. It's pretty easy to avoid.

I think we are going to give Outback a try...
I worked in Fridays as a hostess about 8 years ago, I remember a little boy being rushed out b/c he had a reaction to something. Not sure what he was allergic to, not even sure if the parents knew up until that point that he was ana to something. But it was scary and the image has stuck with me every since then.

As another poster said, I go everywhere but those places that throw peanuts on the floor.

I have even let my son go into Five Guys burgers (they have cartons of peanuts there for those waiting on their order but they are VERY clean). I go there before it gets crowded. I wouldn't have done that years ago, but my son is 15 now and he can handle himself in the restaurant (doesn't touch things, etc).
