Your Experience at MVMCP

The crowd calendar mentioned above has nothing listed for Fantasmic. Is that show still going on? I haven't been to the world for a couple of years, but that was part of our plans for our November trip??????

We went the first week of December last year - Main Street and the parades were packed. The lines for the rides were not. The wait at 7DMT was 25 minutes early on in the night (probably around 7) which was much lower than during the day times. Most of the other rides were walkons. My son still talks about the snow on Main Street. For us, it was worth it!
My wife and I had a similar experience during the same time period as stated above. In fact the M&G lines weren't really that bad.........pretty much walked up to the 7 Dwarves around 10:30pm. 7DMT was short relative to what it is during the day. We watched the fire works from Gaston's Tavern area.........and the 2nd parade from Frontierland.............the snow at the end of the night was cool! :-)

We went the Tuesday before the week of Thanksgiving. It was supposed to be low crowds that week. MVMCP was packed. We went to Frontierland to watch the parade and were behind several rows of people. Not a good view! That said, we're going again this year and hoping for a better experience.

Here is an honest comparison of what I have seen. If you feel the ticket price is worth it you should totally go, but in my opinion based upon experience, it is no longer worth the cost of the ticket for the limited things that are added outside of a daily park ticket.

The first MVMVCP I went to was in 2001. I have been every year since. I will not be going this year.

The first year we went the tickets were roughly $23 per person.
  • They offered a variety of cookies.
  • The cocoa was thick and very chocolaty.
  • The ticket included a voucher for a photopass picture from the party.
  • The fireworks were pretty much the same.
  • The parade was much longer.
  • They put everybody with a wristband in tomorrowland and made everybody without one leave.
  • They sold fewer tickets then.

Today the tickets are $100
  • They have one sugar cookie that is pretty much like eating sand.
  • The cocoa is watered down.
  • No photopass picture.
  • Parade is shorter than years ago.
  • I see people all over the park who do not have a wristband sneaking their way into spots to watch the parade and fireworks.
  • On the plus side, I do think they have more characters now than they did in the past.
  • They sell a lot more tickets and the parties are very crowded.
There isn't any photopass photographers at the party?

Was it the first or second parade?

I've been to parties where everyone is enjoying the party and not doing many rides and things were nice if you wanted rides and miserable getting between rides or seeing teh parade/shows/fireworks.... I've been to others where it looked empty but the rides were all long lines, sometimes longer than during the day....

It's honestly hit or miss. With a child and being at disney during the holiday stuff, it's worth doing at least once if you have the budget. a nice holiday parade, a different fireworks show, christmas music in the background, walking up to get some included in price cookies and hot chocolate.

Unless it's the very start or very end of the MVMCP dates, you can almost always get tickets 1-2 days before the party and in many times the morning of the party. They all sell out on the day of the party. You don't have to decide before you go just leave yourself some wiggle room on party nights in your plans. Great day for the resort break day or disney springs where both line up well if you do party and you don't need another park ticket or fastpasses if you don't go.

I think my only thing that I didn't care for when I went in Dec was trying to hunt down characters you wanted and the wait of the lines. I get it there is always a wait but it was trying to hunt them down.

Other than that...the fireworks were great, seeing anna and elsa on stage just was great. If you can I would take the second parade if you can. I am glad we missed the first one.

We attended our first and only (so far) MVMCP last year on Thursday Dec 10th and LOVED IT! I think if you go in the middle of the week the crowds might be more manageable. We read that before we went, and on our weeknight, they were very easy to handle. For us, in our mid-20s and without children, our objectives were to take in the parade and fireworks and then stroll around and hop on things as we liked. We got our wristbands ASAP at 4pm and went to wait in line for Jack Skellington, where we were the 5th group. He was amazing - and talks! - and was our far and away favorite of anyone we've met in all our trips. After that we booked it to the line for the dwarfs and were about the 8th or so group in line and it was worth waiting! The dwarfs were amazing and we were done with them by 6:58pm, 2 minutes before the party technically started. If you think you may even want to meet them, have someone get in line because the line absolutely exploded in length by about 5:15 I would say.
Thanks for this input! We always travel to WDW in August...this is our first time going in November, and the first time for MVMCP! My husband loves Jack Skellington and we can't wait to see the dwarves. I just wasn't sure about the strategy to get to meet all of them.

The hours are so odd from what I've seen. It is much more difficult to plan during the holidays than the summer when we always go. My husband said that he saw somewhere that Fanstamic is every night in November, which seems totally weird to me, but very helpful in planning our days. Add in ROL opening (still no word) and it seems like a lot of unknown event times to plan around.

Where are you seeing these hours? The only ones I have seen do not go beyond November 13th.

We have been doing the MVMCP for years too. You nailed it! Man do I miss the variety of cookies and the photo.

So, I just checked...it looks like he is basing that on previous years in November, as well as the October 2016 schedule. We are getting ready to make dining reservations in a couple of days, so we need to have a better idea of what to expect. It looks like I'm November 2014 and 2015 Fantasmic is every night. And it is every night on the October 2016 schedule. Crossing my fingers that he is correct. So much to see in a short amount of time!!!

Fantasmic! is still going on - the calendar will get updated several times before November.

My husband said that he saw somewhere that Fanstamic is every night in November, which seems totally weird to me, but very helpful in planning our days.

Why does it seem weird for Fantasmic! to run every night in November? Other than rare exceptions (like an early close), Fantasmic! always runs every night.

If be "he" you mean Josh at easyWDW, he's using the hours from the calendar I linked above, just like he always does.

Sorry I'm so late in responding, I had a horrible weekend with allergies and am only back to my usual self today. Honestly, for Jack we could've waited longer to get in line but we were anxious about hurrying over to the dwarfs. Jack was our absolute favorite ever meet and greet, he was hilarious! I had on Christmas mouse ears (from Etsy) and he kept going on and on about how lovely my "ear stitches" were and he's going to ask Sally for them for Christmas, and what grave did I get my ear stitches from?! I was in tears from laughing so hard. Really wonderful! Definitely do not miss him!

We went six years ago. It was fair at best. The parade was the highlight, but that is way too much money to pay for a parade. We spent so much time running around trying to catch the special shows that we wound up not riding anything at all. The crowds were crazy. We did enjoy the free cookies and apple juice, but once again, way too much money for a simple treat like that. As others have stated, everyone's experience is different. But, I highly doubt we would ever do it again. Just my two cents.

We attended last November for the first time and it was so much fun. We walked on to nearly every ride. Had a great spot for the 2nd parade right outside Liberty Tree Tavern. So much better than I though it all would be. Very festive, even with some drizzle. Even my mother loved it and she's not big on the parks or rides. We all felt it was worth it. Going this year again!
