Your Disney Pet Peeves

When people don't understand that adults love Disney as much as kids. I swear everytime I'm there I'm given weird looks for getting character photographs, or going to character dinners w/no kids, or wanting front row for parades/shows. There's so many neat secrets I hear about that I want to try but I know I'll just be looked at like I'm crazy by some parents.

We just returned and thought the parks needed to be labeled better. We spent a lot of time walking to find the entrance to a ride or the fast pass station or the attraction itself. Better signage would help this problem! We just gave up and ended up asking the cast members. It was surprising how man of them couldn't tell us!

We had a great trip.

Oddly enough, my pet peeve is also something that cracks me up and that I also enjoy in a perverse way. Namely, those who are clueless(still!) about Fastpass and the need to make ADRs, especially for the more popular restaurants.

People wearing big backpacks in line, then turn and "whap" you.

People walking 5 across on a narrow walkway.

People waiting for their fastpass time by blocking the entrance.

People who stop in the middle of the row at a show.

I guess as a mother I don't understand the parade comment, adults can see over little kids but can kids see over the adults? I don't know because this is our first trip.

I know the parades at Disney are way different but around here no one cares if the little ones get upfront to see all the action, they can easily see above the little ones heads

I also just pretty much hate watching any parade on Main Street due to the tightness that people are packed into those roped-off areas. I had a rope digging into my back throughout the entirety of Spectromagic this past September because I COULD NOT move. It was ridiculous.

Rude and inconsiderate guests:

1. Stopping in the middle of the path to read their map or have a family meeting.
2. Who don't pay attention to or are outright rude to the CM's
3. Who think that Disney is only there for kids younger than 12
4. Who try to cut in the lines and during the parades
5. Who complain (this is unacceptable, I didn't get this, Disney owes me that, blah, blah, blah).
6. Who take forever with the characters, they know there is a huge line behind them but they still have to get their twenty pictures, autographs and then take more pictures after checking how the 1st shots turned out
7. Who litter
8. With strollers and ECV running into me. (Yes, I was watching where I was going, were you?) At least say you're sorry for pete's sake!

I can understand your confusion. I'm not a big adult by any means, I'm only 5' 2", but if I've sat in a spot for an hour, then I really do not appreciate being made to feel guilty that some children have shown up 5 minutes before the parade and can't see. Myself personally I DO try to be mindful of children around me, and I will sit on the ground so that they can easily see over me, even the littlest ones. I like my front row seat and being at Disney is every bit as magical to me as it is to any child, I would never purposefully block a child's view, but I have had experience with pushy parents (more than kids) who do not feel that adults have the right to be in the front row, and that certainly IS annoying.

people who cut into lines
people who smoke, curse, spit, etc. in lines
groups who decide to have a pow-wow in the middle of the flow of traffic
people who run into my heels with their strollers

Exactly, I am only 5'0'' so I hear ya!

Also, I usually will have no problem allowing a little one infront of me if a parent asks and I know I will still have a great view. It is when parents push their several children infront of us 5 minutes before the parade starts which results in getting stepped on and squished. We usually will say something and 2/3 times the parent/s will ignore us and pretend to be taking pictures etc. In those cases we will tell the children to move in a very nice way and explain that we were there first. This has resulted in us getting yelled at big time by parents. We don't feel there is anything wrong with it though.

The smokers and people who are just rude.

I saw a guy being so mean and rude to a CM at CP because he had to wait 5-10 minutes past his reservation time. Him and his wife were out yelling "This is the most ridiculous restaurant" as people were walking up and telling them they are going to wait forever. He was very rude to an Hispanic CM at the door and spoke to her like she couldn't speak English. Very slowly and loud.

Then when he was inside and I got stuck in front of him at the buffet. He was literally standing there for 30 seconds and started yelling that this was ridiculous, got his family (no kids!) and left.

I wanted to tell him that I know he's tired and hungry but he needed to relax. You know...something you say to your cranky 5 year old!

I have 2:

The will-never-change herding practices for getting people into and out of MK. Who's bright idea was it to slap a body of water between the parking lot and the park entrance? I'd like to tar and feather him (and yes I say him because it must have been a man). You can see that idea was ousted for all future park planning projects. My last trip there I was riding the ferry back to TTC after park closing and saying (what a horrible end to a terrific day, blah)

I had a large family create some very tense moments for a me and my DD6 when riding BTMRR. About 5 people sort of speed walked/ran to get in line in front of us, we sort of held back and allowed them in without issue. What I didn't know was that there were 10 in there party and the other 5 refused to run to cut off the lady with her daughter. I didn't know this until we were stopped in line and getting ready to enter the house. The grandmother put her arm up to prevent us continuing in line and motioned for her other 5 to cut in front of us in line so they could all ride "together". Bravo to the 30 something son who said "Mom just let them on ahead of us". It was unlikely that all 10 would even make it on the same train. If it was that important to their group they should walk into each line hand-in-hand so as not to get separated. If they happen to become separated by just a few people then what's the harm in allowing those few ahead of you instead of insisting you come before everyone else? Just a vent.

The most annoying thing at Disney to me is the way people - grownups! - behave during parades. Pushing, shoving, blocking....I've only managed to see one parade at WDW and will never even try to see another one. Horrible, horrible experience!

I absolutely agree!!! I had an incident the other day at the Magic Kingdom with someone who was walking around smoking. A CM asked them to put out their cigarettes and they refused. So I spoke up. It is the teacher in me, I don't know why I do these things, I just do. Well the woman decided to use LOTS of foul language at me in front of kids that my husband had to tell her to knock it off. All of this in front of my 2 year old son.

How hard is it to follow directions?

People who use the back door to get on the bus to bypass everyone and make sure they get a seat, again, even though there's a clear sign that says not to and often the bus driver will be asking nicely to use the front door.

I'm not going to let others influence me having a good time. I look forward all year to taking my family for a wonderful vacation and honestly unless someone else does something absolutely crazy I usually don't noticed because I'm so absorbed in what we are doing.

A pet peeve I have is when CMs say to move all the way to the end of a row and everyone looks around but does nothing. Another is in the 3D theaters to move all the way to the end. One time the first person in to the row sat in the middle and others were walking around them. My wife who was in front of me told them to move and they did.

My pet peeve is when you park your stroller in the stroller parking lot for a ride, you come back after the ride and the stroller has been moved!! Why can't they just treat it like a parking lot at the mall and when one pulls out, another can pull in. We waste more time locating our stroller than I'd like to, and I see many other exasperated people doing it too.

my biggest pet peeve is the tmothers who feel that since they have a stroller they own the midways. i had the black and blue marks on the back of my legs after my last trip for weeks!
