Your Disney Pet Peeves

My biggest pet peeve applies everywhere , not just Disney.My Peeve is how genuinely DISRESPECTFUL, UNCOUTH,APATHETIC and UNCIVILIZED people have all become towards each other and society as a whole ( and yes I am guilty sometimes too, but am trying to do better)It tends to get worse in theme park situations just because the sheer numbers and different ethnicities etc that are packed togetther.I for one this trip will relax and enjoy myself.If people want to carry on like a bunch of animals ...so be it.

Anyway, there's very little that bothers me at Disney. I'm there to have a good time, not be irritated at every perceived slight. Why should I bother getting upset because someone's family got separated and they want to ride together? If I notice it happening, I'll offer to let the people left behind go ahead. Many people have done the same for me. A few people going ahead of you is going to cost at most five minutes out of your day, whereas getting angry about it leaves you stressed for far longer.

I think someones already covered this but i get really angry when waiting for character autographs and the CM shouts 10 mins left and your about 4th in line and the families in front take forever.If that was me and there were people waiting i would hurry my family on.

People from other countries who think they are above common courtesy and have a "right" to be extremely rude and incondiserate or those around them. Then when someone else "redirects them" They suddenly pretend to not understand english so they can continue on with thier rude behavior.

Luckily most visitors I have encountered have been a real pleasure - but there seems to be a few specific countries or areas of this world where the rude visitors are coming from.

Whoa- this is going to be a really long thread.

Mine is people that complain about other people who aren't touring commando. So, they stopped in front of you to look at something. Isn't that why they put all the neat little touches into WDW in the first place? Lighten up!

People who leave their trash everywhere! Seriously, what is so hard about putting your garbage in the trash can, not on it or next to it? And when you eat at a counter service restaurant, it is only polite to clean the table off when you leave. Sure they have CMs who run around cleaning the tables, but the guests greatly outnumber them. So what is so hard about being nice and cleaning up after yourselves? And don't get me started about the people who leave tp all over the bathroom stall....

*sending one person to the fastpass machine, and getting fastpasses for everyone in your family, school band, and school administration. This seriously happened to me a couple years ago where this kid must have had upwards of like 30 tickets (of his school band) he was trying to get fastpasses for. I hate him.

*the people that do that whole 'drinking around the world' thing, but become excessively drunk, loud, and obnoxious by Italy. I don't personally drink, and I have no care about what other people do, but puking in garbage cans is not a nice disney memory (saw that one this year). And also, when you buy a viking hat in Norway, please don't turn the 'horns' different directions----I bet that was cool about 10 years ago, but after seeing it about 1000 times, its a little played out now.

*coming up to your table during a character meal, and asking the characters for autographs, WHILE the parents are taking pictures. Selfish anyone?

*not having an ADR----BUT holding up the line of the people that do have ADR's because they are yelling at the CM saying "why should I need an ADR since I'm staying at this hotel". I get one of these people EVERY trip, and they insist on taking 10min to yell at the CM for their stupidity.

Strollers. They just went up and price and all they do is cause traffic and mayhem anyway. Protest and not use strollers please !

I have to agree with the others... people that stop in the middle of the walk way to look at a map. Especially if its a bigger group and you can't get around them!

But also, people that think they have the given right to cut in front of other people to get in a ride faster or to get their kid up to see a character. We all spend our well earned money to be there... we all have to show respect.

My biggest is people who use foul language and obnoxious behavior when there is no way for me and my family to get away from them (in lines, etc). If I wanted my children to be exposed to it I would allow them to watch it on television and listen to foul languaged music.

Also who ever it was who said people standing to close to you in line...I am right there (but not too close ) with you. I seriously can not breathe with someone right up on me. Even my kids have a joke about Mommy needing her prsonal space and do not invade it...LOL Because of this I always tell my children you do not have to be so close to someone you are practically glued to them. the know I want a little space between them and who ever is is front of them. And when we are in line DH has to be the last person out of our group so I know the person behind me won't be too close.

When people don't understand that adults love Disney as much as kids. I swear everytime I'm there I'm given weird looks for getting character photographs, or going to character dinners w/no kids, or wanting front row for parades/shows. There's so many neat secrets I hear about that I want to try but I know I'll just be looked at like I'm crazy by some parents.

I am soooooooo with you. My husband and I love the parades, character meals etc. I have been known to sit for 2-3 hours on the curb to have front row seating for Spectromagic (one of my fav things).

This is easy. People who talk, take pictures (flash), or video (w/lighting) on attractions when you are NOT supposed to. I honestly thought I was in a lightning storm on POTC.

My pet peeve ( and this goes for more than just Disney, but it is one of the bigger ones I have there) is people stopping in the middle of a path. Go off to the side and dont cause crowds by stopping directly in the middle of a path were there are hundreds of others trying to get by.

As for the one posted about climbing over and under the ropes and chains for ride lines, guilty as charged! DH and I both do this. Why walk through all that empty space, when you can just make a short cut and climb under and over the ropes and chains? We arent cutting in line, we arent bothering anyone. Lots and lots of people do this to make it easier to get to the end of the line. Which is why we do it. Now granted we only do this, if theres like hardly anyone there, or theres no one there in that room, and everyone is further in line. We just simply make a 5 minute walk to get to the end of the line into a 1 to 2 min walk.

Reminded me of something I did a few years ago. We were heading through the queue for BTMRR. It was getting later in the evening, no crowds. There was a 5 minute wait posted. Once we got up to that area where the line winds around and around, there was no one there. The whole line was down on that little ramp. But the CMs apparently hadn't had the chance to adjust the chains, so we were "forced" to wind around and around. I finally just started undoing the chains and walking through. Went to turn around and there were some people behind me taking the chain from me so they could do the same. . . then people behind them.

There were probably some ticked CMs later that evening. There weren't a ton of people behind me, maybe 4 or 5 groups, but who knows what happened to those chains!

As for pet peeves, I've realized that most of the time they bother me more once I'm at home and don't have all the other fun stuff to focus on than they do at the time. Something about getting to places like here and sharing stories about the things people do makes it seem like a MUCH bigger deal than it ever seemed in the moment.

I always want to yell SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP!
Honestly - everybody always stands up a little after it starts, because the people at the bottom of the little hill can't see over the little rise of planters in front of them to see the globe - it's a wave, and it happens every single night. It's the best place to watch, but it drives me nuts to have to hear that every time.

One of my friends when I was at Disney spoke fluent Portuguese (her family was all from Portugal, she was first generation American) but she didn't bother to go test and get the little flag pin to show she could speak it. She used to REALLY throw off those Brazilian teens when they pretended not to understand her or the other CMs when they spoke in English.

My two have already been covered but smoking outside of designated areas and large groups walking shoulder to shoulder instead of single file. Also those visitors not from the USA who think pushing and shoving in line is the norm. One swift elbow to the gut usually gets your message across.

Not being from the USA I find your comment upsetting. Canadians are not known for pushing and shoving in line.

As a smoker, I am aware of how a non-smoker doesn not like the smell/sight of smoke and I can respect that and don't go to Disney and smoke unless I am in the designated section, however, when in a Smoking area and people waive their hands in my face that the smoke is bothering them. Get out of the very few smoking sections!

When I was there in December, my family and I stayed for EMH at night. We were about to head in the que for POC (which had no wait, just walk right on), and this group of teenagers practically knocked us all over because they were running so fast and cut us off. Then they proceeded to jump the chains separating the two lines. Then, when we were on the ride, they took flash photos of EVERYTHING and were screaming back and forth (the group was split between 2 boats). Yes, I am only 20 years old, so I was a teenager only a year ago, but I would NEVER act like that EVER.


My BIGGEST pet peeve in WDW, is when people ignore the "NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY" warning and do it anyway. It seems like EVERYTIME that I am on HM, there is always some idiot doing this over and over again.

We were at World Showcase waiting for Illuminations one cold evening in February. We had found seats on a bench with a few other adults and waited more than 40 minutes for the show to begin.
About 10 minutes before, these 4 tall young people came right in front of us at the railing and began posing for pictures (with Spaceship Earth in the background). This went on and on.
They were, I'm pretty sure, speaking Portuguese, and I told my DH that I'd bet my bottom dollar they weren't going to move once the show started. He gave me a funny look, but I was right. They had already decided to stand there -- blocking the view of all the people behind them. The picture taking was for our benefit -- as if they were just passing through and thought it a good spot to take pictures. Yeh, right.
I ended up standing on the bench, leaning on DH's shoulders so I wouldn't lose my balance and everyone behind these young brassy people had to stand too.
It's happened before, but amazes me that people are so brazen!
That and the groups that spread out 5 or 6 wide walking through the parks and effectively causing a rolling roadblock are probably my two pet peeves. :-(

I get annoyed, and grossed out when I see people agressively making out (read as: groping) right in front of me in line. I would say, "get a room" but I know they already have one.
