Your car, what makes you feel it has been reliable, or unreliable?

I drove a Toyota Echo over 200,000 miles in 8 years, and all it needed was scheduled maintenance throughout that time. I was happy with it, but gave it to my mother when her old car died. She has since needed to get some work done on the transmission and the air conditioning, but it's still been much cheaper for her than taking on another car payment would have been.

I replaced it with a new Yaris since it's basically the same car, and I'm still happy.

About 5 years ago I finally got rid of my 82 Mercedes 300sd diesel. That thing was a tank with never any issues. My grandfather gave it to me when I left for college. Had 285k miles on it when I started having major motor issues. Some Mercedes mechanic bought it off of me who converted it to run off veggie oil.

I have a friend who is a mechanic at a Toyota dealer. He refuses to pay more than $500 for a car. Usually he gets a trade in with a blown engine. Bought a Corolla for $100. I helped him pull a motor at Pick and Pull, cost him $75. 10 years later he's still driving his $175 car.

You're about due for a $4,000 battery replacement. Better than a few years ago when that battery was $5,000 installed.
I know plenty of Prius owners who have between 200,000 - 250,000 miles on them without a battery problem. I will take my chances.....

Yea you will know when it's reay to be replaced. They are starting to sell refurbished Prius batteries. Go to a Prius forum and see where they recommend going for the battery.

I have an 2003 Toyota Sequoia with almost 200,000 miles. I love love love that car. My husband maintains it but we have had no major problems.

I drive a 1997 Subaru Impreza with 218,000 miles - bought used in 2006 for $3300. Aside from filling the tank and doing basic maintenance (oil, filters, wipers, new tires as needed) I've had only three minor repairs. We did our own timing belt so I am counting that, my trunk spring a leak so we redid some seals and one other part went out but we took the one out of my husband's 93 rally car and got him a new one for that from a pick n' pull for 20 or 30 bucks I can't remember. It was super quick to do but I can't remember what it is... some small cylinder part about the size of the top of a spray can that you can sometimes clean off and it works but did not in my case.

I've yet to be stranded except the one time I left the dome light on and it was dead in my garage but that was my fault!

DH has a 2006 Acura TL which has been awesome! That thing has cost nothing but regular maintenance and that it reasonably priced at the dealership. Unlike the 2006 BMW X5 that we had that cost us a small fortune in repairs and I was taking that to my BIL for repairs. I needed a new gas cap once and darn thing was over $200 since most parts you can't get after market. We finally traded the X5 in for a new Honda Pilot last summer. Never again will I buy a BMW!
