DW is O- and I am A+ so she had to have the shot for both pregancies and she still hasn't forgiven me for that
My oldest child has my blood type but our youngest did not have either mine or DW's, so I had to google blood types to realize that you don't always inherit one or the other
After all, I might have had to convince my wife that the child was really hers.
So two parents who are A+ and B+ can have an O- kid, if they both carry the recessive O and the recessive -. Both AA and AO will produce Type A blood.
We know my DH carries the O, as he is B+ and his Dad is B and his mom is O (she had nothing but O to give him, so he must carry the O allele). I am A+ but don't know if I carry O. So it would be possible for our kids to have any blood type if I do carry the O, and if I don't, they could be A or AB. DD1 is A+ like me but we don't know what DD2 is. DD1's blood type was done at birth, but they didn't do DD2's when she was born
I didn't realize it was common practice to know your blood type. I found out mine when I was in the hospital having dd. I found out hers right after she was born (obviously). But that doesn't mean I remember what they are.
