What unusual pictures do you try to take, of your family, each visit? Other than the typical in front of castle, in front of epcot ball, etc. I'm looking for ideas as I now have hundreds (thousands) of pictures from my trips and I'm looking for some new ideas.

Feel free to post some examples-:thanks:

I like to get a picture of a family member on the bench near the entrance of Disney World -- the one with Disney and Minnie on it.

-Dorothy (LadyZolt)

some one posted once they got their young child a big tee shirt and took a picture each trip with them wearing that shirt...thought that was a really cute idea to mark the passing of time.

personally i don't care for the "lets stand here and smile" shots so i like to take candid ones...like reactions to seeing a character/ attraction for the first time or that interaction...something with some action in it. and with digital and photo software you can cut out bad parts etc ..and i like "landscape" type shots that give an overview of the sights, where the family is not the central theme. there is a good thread on the photo board on digital shots... maybe check there for some ideas http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=989781

however most of our pics got lost in a flood so i can't post any, sorry( see, if digital would have been around then i'd still have them burnt on a cd somewhere :thumbsup2 )

Thanks, and sorry to hear about your picture loss Jann, I would be devasted. I take alot of candid and scenery shoots (rides, landscaping, signs, etc.) and am trying to take more people pix. Also, I'm trying to get more pictures of me with the family. Usually it's just photos of my mom and DD6. My mom doesn't bring a camera or take many (in focus) pictures :rotfl2:

More please?

My goal this trip is to take more candid shots. We had SO many character photos with my DD last time. The better ones were of her and the character talking and not looking straight at the camera. But I will take the one we take every time we go, my DD with the troll in that shop in Norway. That's the one we take to show how she's grown each trip.

go where people aren't. Everyone walks the same spots and takes the same pictures. Go in the back of Japan gardens, the Horizons building, any out of the way spot that will give you a different angle then the other 20,000 people just took a picture of.

I just got back, and the number of people that used flash incorrectly was huge -- for example, for fireworks, the Epcot ball, for far distances. You can get great shots by turning off the flash and keeping the camera still.

We always take a picture with the Indian in Frontierland. That way we can see how much the kids have grown over the years. I also like to take pictures of them trying on hats in the gift shops.

My DS6 also loves trying on hats in the stores and getting his picture taken at the same time.

I personally love pictures of my DS with the characters--my fridge stands as testament to that!

We try to take one of my son and me like the one in my signature.

The street performers (especially the steel drum player in front of Pirates if you can catch him) are always a hoot and will ham it up for the camera. Aerial views of the park from the people Mover (especially good if you time it to be riding during Wishes!). Along the walkway surrounding the statue of Walt and Mickey there are small bronze statues of a lot of the characters, these are very unique closeups few people get.

Take pictures of the World pavillions from deep INSIDE the pavillion at epcot, not just as you're entering it. No flashes of the fish tanks at Living Seas, of course . . . the sets as seen from the Garden Grille in the Land are good, as are the banners and flags outside Innoventions for family backdrops.

At MGM, as you're entering the Star Tours ride, you can scoot under the rope by the lifted foot of the AT-AT and have people pose for photos; the CM's don't mind (though I always ask first in case this changed). And don't miss the speederbike across the way from Star Tours, family can sit on it for pictures.

Animal Kingdom, you can usually get a CM to get Simba to look up for a photo after the end of the Festival show. Small kids on shoulders so they can pose with Simba! (No, you can't climb the rock and sit with him, I asked. XD ) Get pictures of the animals along the walkways, and there's some very dynamic performances in the street in Harambe, and the performers will often be happy to pose with family members.

In the waiting area for American Adventure there are some quotes on the wall that we like so we take pictures by those quotes.

I always take the usual shots being posed, I now try to take action and candid shots, I think they are looking better in the slide and photo shows.

The one shot we take every year is my DD next to the bronze Pluto statue in front of the castle.
That is the one showing how she has grown. :goodvibes
The first picture we have ....... she is barely tall enough to reach it.... and the one we took last year..... she has to bend down a little for her chin to touch the top of Pluto!
It is awesome to compare them. :goodvibes

:thanks: everyone for the great ideas (sorry I've been off the boards for a few days) Butch-I love your pix-I'll try to remember to do that next time! hezreck-we do the troll thing too. AStamm-I love taking pix of DD trying on hats-they come out great and don't cost anything! :rotfl2: 88keys-I know what you mean, I mean really, what's a flash going to do for fireworks? I like to experiment with my digital cam with low light shots, etc. All I waste is a little battery power. Thanks mathgeek and BlindTy-good ideas.

Again, :thanks: everyone for the great suggestions. I've gotten some good ideas. (I just bought 1GB SD card today :sunny: -this time I won't have to worry about filing up my 512 mb card-I had to download it twice during our last trip)

We've been to WDW once and Disneyland Paris once. At both places my 3 boys posed with Mr. Smee(from Peter Pan) and they all, including Mr. Smee saluted me! I'm hoping to get the same pose this Christmas! I LOVE those photos.

On our March 06 trip, we took alot of goofy photos!

EPCOT:

While waiting in line on TEST TRACK, pose next to the dummy diagrams. (We even posed exactly like the dummys...they turned out great!!!)

In the world showcase, take pictures with props from other countries. (viking hats and swords....fans from china...etc....)

MGM:

In the Indian Jones shop, I took a picture of DD holding a rubber snake and making a scared face... that picture was hilarious!!!

In the shop after the Backlot Tour, they have fake academy awards. I took a picture of DD holding an award and acting like a drama queen.

Hubby took a picture of DD and I holding the movie snapper thing. (don't know what its called, but it's black and you snap the top of it and say "ACTION")

MAGIC KINGDOM:

Took a picture of DD trying to pull the sword from the Stone in fantasyland.

Animal Kingdom:

Took a picture of DD in front of Mt Everest screaming loudly with her hands flying in the air.
Took pictures of the Yeti Shrines.

There are LOTS of fun photo ops in the parks, that are off the beaten path.
SNAP AWAY and have a GREAT TIME!!!!
We enjoyed our goofy and candid shots more than our photopass CD pics!!!

Every year I take this picture, it's our kids walking in front of us in the lobby of the BWV. One of these years ds is going to catch dd (height-wise). I've taken this picture every yr since ds could walk.
