All I can suggest is to just make sure he has plenty of caffeine in his system and let me do whatever makes him feel the most comfortable.

caffeine withdrawal can cause migraines, so it's better to avoid caffeine...

I never got migraines until a year and a half ago and now they won't go away. I always get them on my left side, right above my eye and it is horrible. I vomit and can't eat and have to sleep it away..at times it can last a few days. If I catch it right away I can take Midrin and it helps so much. I use to get migraines atleast 2 times a week, then the doctors wanted to put me on blood thinning medicine  but I refused and they are finally going away. I get them about once every 2 months now and am hoping to try out the new Mihealth vitamins that are supose to help fight off migraines.

I also have had horrible headaches for the past year. I usually woke up with it, but sometimes I got one during the middle of the day. My doctor didn't know how to help me so I went to another one. I was convinced I had migraines since they were so debilitating. My new doctor sent me to physical therapy to strengthen my neck and back muscles. It turns out all the pain was caused by my first couple of vertebrae being out of alignment. My bad posture and the way I sleep are what is doing it. Now I sleep with a rolled up towel under my neck and I am trying to stand up straight. I get maybe one headache every other week now. When I do get one I get an adjustment at a chiropractor, just like a previous poster, and it goes away. One thing my fiance does at home for me is a neck massage. When I have a headache you can actually feel a big lump on the back of my neck usually along the right side of my spine. He massages that (you have to push really hard even though it hurts) and once he gets that to loosen up my headache starts going away. The adjustment works faster, but I'm not always able to go right away.

Edited to add:

I hope this helps someone. At first I didn't even think it would by caused by my neck because of where the pain was. When I have a headache it feels like I got hit in the back of the head with a baseball bat (right where my head meets my neck), but also I have pain in my forehead and sometimes in my right eye. I was told that when your neck is out of alignment it pulls your muscles and your scalp across the top of your head and that is why the pain is up front too.

Well we had NO night waking headaches last night. He did, however, get one around 7 p.m. I will keep track of when they occur and if he gets another one tonight, I will be making a call to the ped. Things just aren't right. What is causing them??

Goodluck, I hope it's something you can get figured out easily.

Maybe you could keep a log of what he is eating. My coworker gets migraines frequently because she is allergic to wheat and wheat seems to be in everything.

Sounds like he needs an adjustment.

I will say a prayer that your little boy does not suffer from mirgaines or anything serious. As you've experienced, migraines are a very painful and rocky road.

My Gson, bless his heart, started them at the age of 8 and has been to ped., allergist and neuro searching for answers and trying to find a med that will curb. His are classified as 'abdominal mirgaines', starting with stomach pain, then headache. They are very debilating, with what he calls 'unbearable' head pain, then vomiting for hours until he is exhausted and falls to sleep. He sometimes experiences auras.

My daughter has researched the internet to no avail. We have monitored his diet, lighting, weather, stress, etc. with no real answers. It is a very unhappy situation where he sometimes seems anxious, as he never knows when the 'time bomb' will take over his little body. :(

I wish your son the very best.

Godspeed ^i^

I don't know if this will help, but I take Allegra for allergies and it has helped with migraines too.:sunny:
