I thought I had heard and seen everything in the parks. But today a mother was yelling at her child, You let someone get ahead of you in the line. You can't do that. You can't be nice.

This was in a line for a characters autograph. What a thing to teach your child!!!! :( :(

She must be related to the (at least ) 25 year old couple that pushed through my 3 year old last year while I was holding her hand. They just broke right through our hands, I was LIVID not for just passing but for breaking us apart and scaring her to death, she thought someone had her.

I was there last week and witnesses quite a few rude people. Lots of cutting the line. Rude people should just stay home

What a rotten thing to have happen and to have to see. I hope those kids can overcome that kind of parenting. (I am being judgemental).

And people wonder what is wrong with "kids these days." :confused3

I was at DAK-Lodge a few years ago, and a cute little girl held the door open for a few people walking down the hall, and her mom said something like "I'm not going to stand here while you hold the door open for the whole hotel!" Since when do kids get yelled at for being nice? Yeesh!

I think I can understand where the parent was coming from. My kids are "nice" when waiting for the characters too and sometimes that makes it so they miss out when others push in front of them. I think the point the parent was trying to make is that if you want to see the characters you have to stand up for your spot in line.

:earseek:
Wow, I thought I heard it all, but I guess that I haven't.

Diane V, I can understand that but do you really think the kid got the message it only applied to standing in that line?

What is even worse is when you are teaching your child to hold the door & no one thanks him or just takes it for granted and they keep going through, one after another.. Not just the first few that he was holding the door for, but others behind them making no attemp to take the door from him. When my son was younger I would teach him to hold the door. There were countless times that older adults would just brush past him, not even glance with a smile & (5+ adults would walk out) yes, then I would say something like.... ok Mark, we are done being nice (or polite, or something to that effect), we see others don't appreciate it.... was I wrong to say that to him, no I wasn't ... he wasn't a doorman. I showed him that he was to hold the door, but not forever. (That also taught him to say thank you when others held the door for him) Many adults take kids for granted... by the way, I also taught all 3 of my children to give up their seat on the bus to a parent with a child, a pregnant woman, an elderly person, or someone with crutches (or cane). ok...stayed off topic here sorry :flower:

A Mickey Fan, at least your child knew why. This child was getting yelled at and I doubt the kid had a clue.

:sad2: I have to tell you it burns me to see disrespectfull kids and try to explain to my DD why they can act like that way :sad2: and no one says anything to them(meaning their parents standing right next to them). I agree there are just as many disrespectfull adults as there are children. Of course where do the kids learn it from.

You know, something somewhat similar happend on our last trip,HOWEVER,the cm for our Toy Story autograph signing,SAW it. Guess what?? She made a VERY obvious statement,by walking all the way over to our child, who WAS behaving and being polite, LIFTED the ropes, only allowed her to come in,ALL the way to the front, and Buzz & Woody spent about 3-4 minutes with JUST her.I think it sent a LOUD message to all the rowdy kids,it certainly sent one to ours.Being good sometimes DOES pay off

That's wonderful! Being a good parent and teaching proper behavior reflects on you too Mom & Dad. Excellent job! :goodvibes

On my last trip, during that final half hour the parks were open, I was sitting on a bench near Splash Mountain, waiting for my DGDs to get off the ride. A man (30's) and his son (2-3) walked right in front of me. The boy was obviously very tired and started crying...asking to be picked up by his father. He not only did not pick him up, but started spanking him for crying and yelling at him about how much the trip cost him, that he was an ungrateful kid...yadda yadda. It took every ounce of patience I had not to get up and say something. I could hardly believe it! Parents are NOT ALLOWED to act like their whining children - they need to grow up and be parents!

True story....

When we were there last May I will never forget this. We were walking up the back way (sort of on the side of the castle from Tommorrowland) and we witnessed 2 beautiful little girls (probably ages 3 &5 or so) and they were dressed in their princess gowns. The mother had them pulled aside the walkway and screaming her head off at them. She was using vulgarity that I wouldn't think of using on my worst enemy. They were crying and I felt like grabbing them up and getting them away from that. I know that there are times that even the most patient people can get a little stressed at Disney....but come on!!! If you can't go to the world and enjoy the magic with everyone....STAY HOME!!!!
