"You want to ride Dinosaur again?" - New 10/21 - The End!

Yea! So glad you're back Amy.

How cool that you got to see DeVine. I think we've seen here every time. I didn't realize she was "rare" until I joined the DIS, but it is fun to see her.

I hope Zach got his golden rock!!!

We are early "back to schoolers" too. We started August 3rd. But then we get a week off in September (the perfect time to go to Disney), so August 3rd
is perfectly fine with me (and oddly enough my kids were ready for school).

Looking forward to the rest of your day!

This was Karen’s first time at Animal Kingdom – ever – so we decided we had to ride the safari. On our way there, we ran into DiVine!!!!!!!!

You got to see DiVine!! And on Karen's first visit!!

We always seem to miss her! I am GREEN with envy (no pun intended!) You got some awesome pictures of her...

Kudos on the sleeveless EE shirt for Alex... I know how he feels about sleeves! And I'm hoping no one else got to Zach's golden rock! :rotfl:

Kathy

Thanks for posting the fandex pics! I've never heard the term fandex here, but we have two of those - both of them are Brain Quest. I'll have to keep an eye out to see if we have specific fandexes like your president ones here :thumbsup2

Looking forward to seeing the pictures of the remote control rover and the EE shirt. Oh WOW, how lucky to see Devine!!! I soooo hope we can find her this trip - so cool! :goodvibes

That Primeval Whirl ride slammed me allover the cart; that ride move fast & swift.
My DS(soon to be 7yrs.) started school on the 7th. DS2(1yrs) started daycare as well. It is just the beginning and it is hectic already. And there is the work stress and traveling. Planning our next trip and disboards helps to ease the stress. We are looking forward on our next trip.
Not to ask a silly question, but who is Divine? Is that the animals in the safari that you rarely see?:confused3
Great to read about everyones trip report and photos. Thanks for the inspirations.:goodvibes

Hi Amy! I know how you feel being so far behind! I've been behind all summer! I'm caught up with your report now...if only I can stay caught up!

Thanks for sharing the Fandex pics..I've never heard that term before either, but we have one about trees!

Primeval Whirl reminded me that my body is not as young as it used to be! Dinosaur doesn't bother me a bit, but PW really shook me up!

So did Zach get his rock???? Waiting patiently to find out! popcorn::

Hey Amy,

Based on your earlier tip on the President fandex-David is now a proud owner of the President's one to go with his Star Wars' one. (Only place to get it is next to the American Adventure in Epcot-oddly they did not have it next to the Hall of Presidents in MK...:confused30

Lucky you getting to see DeVine-I too as Kathy is, am green with envy-I've never seen her... (oh well there you go another reason to go back...:lmao:)

Both my children love Primeval Whirl but DH not so much-he isn't a spinner:sick:-in fact he needed a little time out while we rode Triceratop Spin...:confused3

I love the photo with Baloo and King Louie (Emily finally got to meet Baloo and she was quite happy-she's wanted to meet him for years...)

Fun update...:cool1:

DiVine! She's awesome, I wish we would have seen her. What did your boys think?

The picture of the boys with King Louie and Baloo is soo cute, even if they don't know who the Jungle Book characters are.

Yea for Dinosaur again, but I'm beginning to worry about the golden rock. I hope its still there when you go back!

DiVine was really cool! I hadn't accomplished too many things from my "wish list" so I wasn't even looking for DiVine when we stumbled across her!! I was so excited... unfortunately nobody else was as excited as me. They thought she was cool but couldn't understand why I wanted to stand there for so long and take pictures... oh well. :confused3

I pictures are great! We are going to eat Japanese food today. You got me craving it, when you was talking about Teppan Edo..LoL! Especially the pictures of it. We love going there. :cool1:

Hope the Japanese was good! :thumbsup2

Dis he get the golden rock or what....:confused3

and just love the pictures of Divine....so awesome, I'd LOVE LOVE to see her one of these days!

this is your last day at Disney on this trip?

looking forward to the rest, but sad for it to end

J-

More to come on the golden rock! :rolleyes1

Yes - last Disney day! :sad2:

Connor bought the remote control Time Rover as well! Must be a popular item among the under-10 set!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot... I have to take a picture of that... and the Yeti shirt. :headache:

That was my first time meeting DiVine - If I get the chance to see her again I will spend more time watching her move rather than worrying about getting as many pictures...

Oooooo... a week off in September - how perfect is that!!!!!!! :cool1:

Kathy

I'm sure you'll get to meet DiVine one day soon. :goodvibes

We're approaching the hard part of the year for Alex and his sleeve issue. Fall and spring are hard because he looks a little odd running around in a tank top but he's too hot in long sleeves... for a while we do the shorts with long sleeves thing. I can't quite deal with the pants with tank top look?? :confused3 He's too skinny to pull off the muscle man look. :rotfl:

Thanks for posting the fandex pics! I've never heard the term fandex here, but we have two of those - both of them are Brain Quest. I'll have to keep an eye out to see if we have specific fandexes like your president ones here :thumbsup2

We have a bunch of Brain Quest fandexes too. Aren't they cool?? I think my neighbor got the first fandex from amazon. The second one was from Epcot.

That Primeval Whirl ride slammed me allover the cart; that ride move fast & swift.

DiVine is the "vine"...

See the lady in there?? I guess it's the same lady who does it all the time. That's why she's rare - she can't work all day every day. She moves around really slow and if there wasn't a crowd around her I probably would have walked right by!

I love those Fandexes...I love history so I may have to get some for myself!:thumbsup2

Thanks!! Alex loves them and will probably continue to collect them on various topics. ;)

Primeval Whirl killed me!! I'm definitely too old for that - my bones are anyways! :lmao: I kept thinking about my chirporactor every time Alex dragged me on that thing! :rotfl2:

Fun update...:cool1:

Yay!! I'm glad you found the apparantly illusive fandex! Who would have thought you can only get it at Epcot?? Do you think they were just out of them at HoP?? :confused3

Am I dragging my heels on this TR because I'm sad it's over?? Maybe a little, especially since I have no idea when we'll actually get back there, but mostly it's just life getting in the way... I promise I'm working on the next update but it probably won't be done until next week. I'll try to get those pictures (time rover and yeti shirt) posted before next week, but no promises. The boys start school Monday.:banana:

Zachary had an orientation event on Tuesday. Every year the Kindergarten teacher has a birthday party (for herself) the week before school starts. It's only an hour long so it's a nice little playdate on the playground at the school, but the real fun part is that they get to ride the bus! The bus takes them on a little ride around town after the driver goes over the rules. The teacher and her assistant ride along but no parents allowed!! (With the exception of one little boy who was screaming so his dad and brother rode along.)

Zach had fun and played mostly with one of his little friends. At the end he told the assistant teacher that he had to go now because his belly hurt and he needed to go lay down. I was sad that he was nervous to the point of having a belly ache, but proud of him for knowing when he was ready to go and that he could articulate it. Or maybe it was just the cupcakes they had before lunch?? :confused3

The rest of this week has been haircuts, lots of doctor's appointments, finishing up back to school shopping and we'll end the week with the last summer swimming lessons (though we go to the YMCA so lessons start back up in a week for the fall session). Tomorrow is the most important appointment. We have our semi-annual appointments with the developmental pediatrician at Mass General. Not such a big deal for Alex as he has been going there every six months since he was diagnosed with PDD-NOS/Autism Spectrum Disorder just after his 2nd birthday. It's a bigger deal for Zach because this is his first follow up. He had his first visit in the spring and the doctor said she was on the fence about an Asperger's diagnosis. She recommended a bunch of testing and other evaluations (which I think point away from Asperger's) so now that we have had all those things done we get to sit back down with her and review everything. Should be interesting... I'll let you know how it goes. I'm happy to see so many of you are still hanging around after my disappearing act for most of the last month. :goodvibes Thanks for sticking with me!

As promised, I am posting some pictures of Alex's fandexes. He got the first one (with George Washington on the cover) for his birthday last November. We got him the new one (with Barack Obama) at Epcot. He liked the first one, but didn't get obsessed until he got the new one.

Oh my goodness, DS8 would go NUTS over those, I must remember that!

On our way there, we ran into DiVine!!!!!!!!

IMG_3663.jpg

So cool! I love Devine! Never seen her, didn't know she existed but she is supremely cool! my kids would have loved seeing her.

Am I dragging my heels on this TR because I'm sad it's over?? Maybe a little, especially since I have no idea when we'll actually get back there, but mostly it's just life getting in the way...

Oh I know the feeling! And you sound extremely busy!!! Yikes! Back to school is hard enough but all that on top of it? Wow. Amazing you are online at all

What a cute way to introduce the kids to kindergarten!!! It's a shame that Zach wasn't feeling good towards the end, but how awesome that he was able to articulate that! :thumbsup2

I know what you mean about life getting in the way of writing the TR -- as soon as school started, my updating slowed way, way, way down!

Amy, I completely understand how you feel. I've got maybe 3 updates left, which I should really try to get in before school starts in earnest, but I'm dragging too. I look forward to your updates so I'm not going anywhere.

Good for Zach, joining in but knowing when he'd had enough. Good luck with the doctor's appointments.:thumbsup2

Hi Amy...it seems like life never really slows down, doesn't it?

Back to school is such a busy time with all those appointments. Good luck with the Mass General appointments. Hopefully you'll get some good news about Zach. :)

Sounds like a great orientation day for Zach! What a cute idea to have a little get-together. I remember my boys doing that trial bus run before Kindergarten. They grow so fast..now I have one entering HIGH SCHOOL!! YIKES! :scared1::scared1:

We'll be here waiting patiently for your next update! Have a great week and let us know how those appointments and the first day of school goes! :goodvibes

Oh, okay, that's who Divine is. I know I have seen them before.
I know what you mean about your above post when you said it is sad when the trip is over. I can definatley relate to that. When we get home, we are in that sad foggy mood at times for weeks; especially when life starts back again with work, school, etc, etc.
But, I look at it like this. If I was at Disney World everyday, it would be great, but you know, eventually, I would not have anything to hope and plan and build up for because I would be used to everything, doing it often. It is also possible(unless you are a DVC member, which I'm not) to go every other year or third year if you cut some things out or back, like rent a house off property or a place where you can cook your own meals, bring sandwiches to the parks, drive instead of flying, unless it is cheaper to fly, do a 4 day park pass, etc, etc. so it is not as costly. Even putting some daily change or weekly dollars in a water jug per week can add up to something.
I try to look on the bright side like that. At least their is a WDW so we can look forward to going. Couldn't image not having a happy place like that not to go to. Hang in there, cherish the fine memories of your trips. Sometimes I put the family dvd trip in to watch from time to time.

It is really a great trip report and I am enjoying reading it and looking at the photos. Sounds like there has been some drama this trip as well; theres always drama; even when you are in Disney...LOL!:sad2:

I am more than half-way through the trip report which is why I quess I spoke to soon on my previous comment about giving you tips on being able to go every other year. :idea:I did not realize you all have went every year since 2006; lucky you all. Went went 06, 07 and planning for October 2010, hopefully, if everything goes right. DW has a Mickey antenna topper, it's cute.::MickeyMo

We have a fandex (didn't know that's what they're called!) of Early Explorers that I purchased to go along with our curriculum this year. :thumbsup2

Very cool that you guys got to see DiVine - isn't she awesome? :goodvibes

Hi Everyone!! Thanks for hanging in there with me... I haven't been a very good DISer lately. :headache:

I'll post an update on the kids return to school and why I didn't have much time last week for DISing... plus I'm working on my next update so I can finally get this thing finished!

Oh my goodness, DS8 would go NUTS over those, I must remember that!

So cool! I love Devine! Never seen her, didn't know she existed but she is supremely cool! my kids would have loved seeing her.

Oh I know the feeling! And you sound extremely busy!!! Yikes! Back to school is hard enough but all that on top of it? Wow. Amazing you are online at all

Thanks for understanding!! :goodvibes

I know what you mean about life getting in the way of writing the TR -- as soon as school started, my updating slowed way, way, way down!

The kindergarten party is a really cute idea and the kids always love it! Plus the teacher does a home visit with every child who wants one. It's fun to have her at our house.

I need to pop over and get caught up with your TR too...

Thanks for hanging in there with me! I'll be anxious to read the rest of your TR.

The appointments went reall well. And the first week of school was so-so... more to come on that. :rolleyes1

Thanks for the pep talk!! But don't worry I'm not too sad... I'm always scheming to come up with a way to get back there sooner rather than later. For now I think I'll start planning a 2010 trip and hope for the best with DH's bonus after the first of the year. ;)

I just read your whole trip report; great job! Looking forward to reading more!

Denise

Welcome!! :welcome: Thanks for reading!!

It is really a great trip report and I am enjoying reading it and looking at the photos. Sounds like there has been some drama this trip as well; theres always drama; even when you are in Disney...LOL!:sad2:

We've been very lucky to go as often as we have!! I shouldn't be so greedy, but Disney is such a great place for our whole family - and we all have a good time when we are there. I'm sure there are other vacations we could take, but our family isn't a big beach family - we can go for a day here and there, but I can't imagine trying to spend a week at a beach with my active kids! :scared1: We need to be on the go doing things and Disney is the best place in the world to do that. :goodvibes We might be able to visit someplace like Washington DC once Zach gets a little older - I think Alex would enjoy that but at this point Zach would be bored - and Alex would probably get a little restless after a few hours.

We have a fandex (didn't know that's what they're called!) of Early Explorers that I purchased to go along with our curriculum this year. :thumbsup2

Very cool that you guys got to see DiVine - isn't she awesome? :goodvibes

Fandexes = gud! :thumbsup2

It was amazing to finally see DiVine!! There were so many little street acts that we had missed at Epcot that I had really given up on my wish list - it was great to stumble upon her.
