"You want to ride Dinosaur again?" - New 10/21 - The End!

I just found your trip report (I'd been following the ptr) and I'm all caught up! Its nice to hear some positives about the Garden Grill since most I see are negative! I'm looking forward to hearing more about your trip!

Darn! That's what I was gonna say, but Carrie beat me to it!!

Didn't you think the lower tier was better at Garden Grill? I'm so glad you had such a good time there!

And I can hear it now...

Doctor: "Nurse, this child needs one snow cone, STAT!!" :rotfl:

Your WS pix are so pretty! I'm looking forward to more...

Kathy

It really was an urgent need for a snow cone! The kids had eaten apples for lunch and gotten very hot on the walk over - that boy needed a snowcone!

I was looking up at the upper level at the Garden Grill and it seemed like the lower level would be much better since most of the scenes were down lower than us. Thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2

what about the "other" winter and go in late November of 010? :goodvibes

That is a great guess!

Nice first day into the parks...glad the car rental drop off thing worked like breeze!

Your pictures are nice, the boys faces and the weather looks wonderful!

On your way to MK :confused3

J-

Believe me, I'm considering it! Going in October 07 was fun - but it was hard with the kids school routines. Plus it's hard to come back from a fall trip for me - to have the long New England winter to deal with... it's nice to have that light at the end of the winter tunnel. But that is when Alex turns 10 so if spring 2010 does't work out - I might be pushing for a fall trip! :rolleyes1

Beautiful pictures of WS!

Thanks!! I love the WS!

What a great first night at Epcot! Love all the WS pictures and the Garden Grill looks really neat -- I love the idea that it rotates while you eat!

Looks like someone got to ride in the front of the monorail! ;)

The rotation at Garden Grill is very slow -I didn't feel anything & probably wouldn't have noticed if the scenes weren't changing.

:woohoo: for the monorail!

Yay!! Thanks for finding me!! Can't wait to hear about your trip!

I'm having some major technical problems with Internet Explorer - so hopefully I'll get my next update posted shortly! You'll have to excuse me if you find an update that's half finished... I may submit my post even before I've edited it just so I don't lose things...

I saw your trip report on the main page this morning so I had to catch up!!!

Your first day sounds like soo much fun!

Isn't that Kaka Gori good?!

I seriously could have eaten 20 of those on my trip :lmao:

Monday, April 27th continued

As we left Epcot we stopped and posed for our first photopass shoot. (Our photopass share CD has been ordered, but it may still be a while before I get my pictures – once our share leader gets the CD she has to burn copies for each person and mail them out… I’ll post the pictures as soon as I get them!)

We were on our way to the Magic Kingdom! We told the kids we would go to MK to ride their favorites then we’d head back to the hotel. Zach had been most looking forward to It’s a Small World & Alex’s choice was Pirates of the Caribbean. We headed to the monorail and found that nobody was standing in the co-pilot area. We’d tried to be co-pilots in the past, but it had never worked out. We were thrilled to hear that we would be riding up front!! Here are a few pictures from our driving adventure:

One of the few pictures of me taken this vacation:

Our driver, Michael, wasn’t very friendly. He didn’t have much to say and kind of ignored Alex’s 20 questions. At the end of our ride we were issued co-pilot’s licenses.

Hopping on the monorail over to the MK was one of the big plusses of staying on property this year. It was so easy to park hop!!

As we exited the monorail at the TTC we were told that the monorail was broken and we would have to take the boat over to MK. We are usually in such a rush that we don’t take the time to do things like ride the boat – it was a nice treat – especially since the boat was waiting there for us and we only had to wait a couple minutes before we were on our way to MK. It was fun! Here are a few pictures from that part of our journey:

After bag check & the turnstiles we grabbed our stroller (and Alex grabbed his maps) and hit the bathrooms. You've gotta love that feeling you get the first time you walk up Main Street::cloud9:

As we headed up Main Street, Alex asked if he could get a balloon – I told him we’d think about it… but we certainly weren’t buying any balloons before going on rides. Our first goal was It’s a Small World. We took a lovely boat ride around the world which made Zachary very happy!

Upon exiting the ride we ran into some friends from Alex’s Special Olympics swim team. I didn’t even know they were going to be there – it was a nice treat on our first day!

Next we decided to ride Big Thunder Mountain RR – a big family favorite that was closed in 2007. Zachary had never ridden & we knew he’d love it. And he did!! This would turn out to be one of his favorites of this trip. Zachary had been asking for popcorn since he found out about our trip 6 weeks earlier… but I believe MK was closing early that night so most of the popcorn stands we went by were closed at that point. We headed to PoC and Alex got to sing the pirate song using the correct words (we printed them off the internet for him a few weeks before our trip)! When we finished we made our way out of the park. We decided to let the boys get balloons since that’s not something we could bring home with us at the end of the week, they might as well enjoy them in our hotel room, right? I was shocked when the woman told me it would be $20 for two balloons!! :scared1: They’re nice balloons, but yikes!! We also found that the popcorn stand by the exit was still open! We used another snack credit and got Zach some popcorn. (For anyone keeping track, that’s a total of 5 snack credits, 4 TS credits and 0 CS credits for this day.)

At this point we’d walked, driven, taken the monorail and boat, but still hadn’t set foot on a bus. Now the time had come for our first bus ride. Luckily there was no wait and we hopped right on a bus back to CBR. It was a long bus ride and DH wasn’t impressed, but when I showed him the map he was more optimistic about shorter bus rides to & from the other parks. :rolleyes1

When we made it back to our room we got the kids right into pajamas and bed! Tim showered while I got the kids to sleep then I showered and got organized for our first Disney morning! I wrote in my journal for all of you then got to sleep by 10:30.

Mystery picture for day 2:

(That was probably too easy...)

Up next: Our first Disney morning!

Hi Princess Caitlin!! :welcome:

Kaki Gori is awesome!! This wasn't our last visit to that snack booth!! :rolleyes1

I'm glad you guys got to ride up front on the monorail! (we did too :)) It's just too bad you didn't have a more personable driver. Wow 20$ for balloons?! They look so cute in the parks but I had no idea they were that expensive! Sounds like a great first day!

I like how you did all kinds of different modes of transportation in one day. I haven't been on the TTC to MK ferry in years....need to do that again because I love the Seven Seas Lagoon.

Mystery picture for day 2 has me stumped so it wasn't too easily for all of us!

Alex & Zachary sure do look like they're enjoying that monorail ride!!:banana:

$10 for a balloon! No wonder they hang onto them so tightly!! :rotfl:

You did a lot for just a quick little trip to the MK! I'm laughing about Alex and his map-obsession!! ;)

I know the feeling!!

Kathy

YAY!! I found you and am caught up, thanks for the links :thumbsup2.

It looks like you had a great Disney Day. I would love to ride up front on the monorail someday. I love your pictures, I can't wait for your photopass pics so we can see more of you. You had great timing with the transportation, I hope that continued.

Yay for riding up front on the monorail! We did it in 2007 and the boys loved it. Our driver wasn't very talkative either, but we still enjoyed it!

I love the pics! Cute, cute!

I agree that the first stroll down Main Street is totally magical! :)

Is the mystery picture at Expedition Everest?? The loading platform? :confused3

Can't wait to hear more! Keep it coming! ;)

I want to ride up front in the monorail! How fun.:goodvibes

The boat ride to the MK looks very peaceful. It's great that you weren't in a hurry to get to the Magic Kingdom and could just sit back and enjoy.

That is so funny that Zack had been asking for Disney popcorn. If someone asks Ian what he's looking forward to at WDW, he says Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin and popcorn.:rotfl2:

Great report!! It's getting me excited for our trip in 4 weeks!! Can't wait for more installments!

How fun to get to ride up front on the monorail and then the ferry boat!!!

We love It's a Small World -- well, three of us do, anyway (Charles can't stand it).

All in all, you had a wonderful first day at WDW!

I know where you headed the next day!!! :goodvibes

It was really fun to ride up front! You get to see things from a completely different view. :thumbsup2

We wouldn't have taken the boat if the monorail had been working - I'm glad it worked out the way it did.

I can't believe I stumped you! But I don't think you have ever seen this sign since you've been pregnant on your last two trips. :rolleyes1

Alex & Zachary sure do look like they're enjoying that monorail ride!!:banana:

Alex was so funny with the maps!! He is still looking at them regularly. He writes in and copies pages from his Guide to the Magic book all the time. When he asks me if we can do certain things on our next trip - I tell him to ask Dad! :rotfl:

I can't wait to get my photopass CD!!:hyper:

I have to say that I was getting pretty sick of hearing Zachary's "happy song"... he kept asking to hear the IASW song over and over leading up to our trip. :headache: But the ride was nice. :goodvibes

Yes, it's Animal Kingdom! And maybe somewhere else?? :confused3

Loving the report Amy! :goodvibes Great pictures! And thanks for the tip about the yummy snow-cones in Epcot, the boys will have to get one of those! :thumbsup2

I'm all caught up Amy! :cool1:

First - I have to say how handsome both of your boys are. :goodvibes

The rooms at CBR look just like the ones at POR except decorated differently. :thumbsup2

Beautiful pictures of everything! Looks like you had a great start to your trip. :goodvibes

I think I'm really going to have to try Garden Grill next time. :)

wow that is a first...doing every mode of Disney transportation in a single day....:thumbsup2

great score on the pilot seat in the monorail, very fun and thanks for sharing a picture of you!

sounded like a fun 1st day at Disney and I love your mystery pictures...very clever and fun. My guess is inside an EE car?

looking forward to more

Thanks Carissa! I think my boys are pretty cute too. :goodvibes

I had kind of guessed that all of the moderate rooms were similar. It would be fun to see all of the different themes. :thumbsup2

Garden Grill was fun - it was a great way to start the trip. Alex really likes Chip & Dale too.

It wasn't our plan to sample all of the transportation - it wasn't even our plan to go to MK at all that night... Wasn't I just so flexible?? ;)

There will be more pictures of me once I get my photopass pictures.

DH was laughing at me taking my "mystery pictures" - I took a bunch - most of which I probably won't use - light fixtures, ride numbers on the ground, obscure signs, etc.

New update coming up shortly.
