Before I continue on I realized that I forgot to post our photopass pictures from our last afternoon at DHS (these were taken on our way in when our mood was a bit better):

Maybe this guy stole Tim's wallet?:

So Tim had returned to DHS hoping to find that someone had turned in his wallet while I stayed back at CBR with the kids and packed our bags. The alarm would be waking us up at 5:30. I don’t have notes beyond this night so I’ll do my best to recall the details of departure day.
Tim returned to the room at 10:45 – unfortunately he didn’t have his wallet.

The alarm rang bright and early and we jumped up, nervous about what was to come today. We finished up the packing and got ourselves ready for bell service. I’m embarrassed to say that we threw away a ton of food. We bought way too much food!! We gave away a case of water to one of neighbors the night before. When the bellman arrived he was really cool – the kids were upset about having to leave their balloons behind so he took them outside, had them make a wish and set the balloons free! He gave them the little weights that they keep on the bottom to take home with them. He was really nice and didn’t rush us at all.
We arrived at Custom House, hoping we could check our luggage without Tim’s ID. I don’t know that they were supposed to do this, but they let me check the luggage with just my ID! I was so relieved! Then we just had to wait. Finally our ME bus arrived. We climbed aboard and enjoyed the departure movie on our way to the airport. I don’t think the bus made any other stops.
When we arrived at the airport we headed directly to security. We had a lot of carry on bags since we could only check four bags. We decided to have Tim take his laptop bag along with one carry on bag that we thought contained dirty laundry. When we got to the first security guard who asks for your ID and boarding pass, Tim explained the situation. They had the kids & I sit to the side while they asked him a bunch of questions. They asked if he had anything else with his ID – checkbook, credit card, etc. He didn’t have any of that. They wrote down his information and had him continue on to the x-ray machines but he would have to go through additional screening. Luckily he was able to help us still at that point.
When we made it to x-ray, I went through first and Tim sent the kids right behind me. I grabbed the six other carry on bags (I know - six is ridiculous!) while Tim dealt with security. I found a nice bench, pulled out the kids video games and planned the wait for a while.
Now I don’t know exactly what they did for additional screening, but Tim said they asked him a bunch more questions about where he lives, previous addresses, where he works, etc. Then they checked his stuff over thoroughly. Remember when I said we carefully thought out which carry on bags he would take with him? Well apparently he had two snow globes in his bag!!!!! It didn’t even occur to me that snow globes contain water when I packed them. I packed them in dirty laundry so they wouldn’t break but the water thing went right over my head. Unfortunately they had to take the snow globes. Fortunately the kids never noticed that they were missing! Other than that, the additional screening wasn’t too bad and Tim finally made it through and we were able to move on.
The flight home was otherwise uneventful. We made it into Portland, Maine on time and Tim’s mother was waiting for us at baggage claim. We were really happy to be home.

And a trip recap – Did we do everything we wanted to?
