"You want to ride Dinosaur again?" - New 10/21 - The End!

We don't have gifted programs around here... I'm glad it's been great for DS8.

I need to get my butt over to your TR- I've started reading it a couple times and gotten side tracked... :rolleyes1

Yeah you do! Get your butt over there ! :thumbsup2 I know the feeling...sidetracked :)

Very sad that you don't have a program. We are fighting tooth and nail to keep ours. With district and state funding cuts it's been scary. I thought, though I could be wrong, that all public schools had have some type of offering, be it special instruction within the main classroom, pulled out for a class here and there or self contained, which is what DS is in. Schools are moving away from self contained, saying it's undemocratic but I'll tell you the difference btw that, and the pulled out every now and then (which my little brother did, I live in the same school district I grew up in) is amazing.

We've been lobbying hard to keep the program at the state funding level, right now we are battling to keep the busing. As far as I know, all the district's in our state have a program it's just how they execute it that varies considerably. 4 of my nieces and nephews are in like programs in other parts of the state.

The nephew I was referring to though refuses to take the test so they focus on his specialty area's outside of regular school with things like math camps and the math Olympiad and those have been really good for him.

This one’s for Heidi:

Thanks....I've been known to sing and dance in the kitchen to Step In Time!

On the way to 50s PTC I spotted the well near Indy's show that Julie (mousescrapper) told me about. Of course Alex had to pull the rope:

Good pix of the well....I forgot to take one when I found it and I had a hard time explaining it my TR.

Can you guess what we did next?

Tim went and got a pedi at the spa?????

Looks like a fun day.:goodvibes We didn't do the Great Movie Ride otherwise I'm sure I would have gotten the Mystery Photo.:rolleyes1

Hmmm..your feet are wet. Fountains?

I'll make it over to your report sooner or later... :rolleyes1

I don't know how much our school would benefit from that type of program anyways - we only have about 150 students for grades K-5 - small classes with lots of one on one attention. And even if we did have one, I don't think Alex would benefit from it... he's really smart in some areas (mostly memorization skills - spelling & math facts) but has a lot of work to do in other areas. He gets pulled out of his class a lot as it is for speech, social skills, reading comprehension work, etc. I'm not sure I'd want him pulled out any more. Plus he already has an assistant in class so I think he gets about as much one on one attention as he needs. ;)

Good luck with your fight to keep the program at your school. It's hard right now with programs being slashed left & right. :sad2:

Are you trying to tell me something about my feet? :confused3

Off we go to The Great Movie Ride! Just what Karen needed – we had each visited several attractions and she had only been on TSM. We danced our way there, jumped in line and were boarding our theater “car” in no time. We got the gangster version this year. I always enjoy this ride and particularly enjoyed the movie montage at the end.

Fantastic pictures!! :thumbsup2 Now, I'm even more excited to ride TGMR this trip! :woohoo:

I'm sure you would have figured it out too. ;)

Nope - no fountains... but thanks for recognizing my feet as women's feet.

After TGMR we decided to ride TSM again. This was probably the first time Tim & I had been on a ride alone together in years. The boys each wanted to ride with Jeff or Karen. This time I took some pictures:

More wonderful pictures! :goodvibes

Tim kicked my butt:

He just had some lucky shots :rotfl:

Oh, I must remember to get my boys to do this in September! I've read about it, but it was one of the thousand things I totally forgot about while we were there :sad2:

After 50s PTC Karen wanted to see the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. I was happy to oblige. I never get to do the girly stuff and had never visited this attraction before. Zachary wanted no part of this! Tim took Zach off to see about riding TSM again while the rest of us watched the show. I really enjoyed it! I think Zachary knew what he was doing when he insisted on skipping the show – I don’t think he would have liked the rain falling on his head.

50's PTC sounds like so much fun - I'm glad you all enjoyed your meal. I'm happy you were finally able to go to VotLM :cutie:

Can you guess what we did next?

You went swimming? You went to a water park? :confused3

There were so many things that I wanted to see that I totally forgot about... I'll recap my park wish lists compared to what we actually did/saw when my TR is finished.

Yup - swimming! :thumbsup2 Anyone want to guess where? :confused3

No, other way around....I think Tim has girlie feet :rotfl2:

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

I am patting myself on the back! :thumbsup2

I love the Great Movie Ride, so I definitely enjoyed the pictures from it! I always get misty-eyed during the montage!

You make 50's sound like so much fun! I hope I can convince my family to go there one day!

After the VOTLM we headed over to TSM to meet up with Tim & Zach. Once we found them we returned to the Streets of America and exchanged the new pen. Believe it or not – it took the CM a few tries to find one that worked. On the way out of the park we hit RnRC one more time so I could get a chance to ride. I can’t remember what Karen & Zach did during this time, but I think it involved a snack of some sort??

Great TSM pictures! And yes, I can believe it on the pens. I need to remember that and test before we buy. I'm sure I won't though. You guys got a lot done before 4:30, very impressive!

I love TGMR. We didn't do it this time but next, I think it's a must!

I can definitely see that in a school that size! That is great that you have such a small school and teacher ratio, I could only wish for that. Part of what is great about DS's program is that it is self contained, it's like a separate school inside a larger elementary. About 100 kids grades 2-6. Which is a little isolated but it works. DS does get pulled out for speech and I can completely get not wanting them pulled out too much.

This was our second visit to the 50s PTC - both times were fun. The food is great but the servers really make the meal! You should definitely check it out. :thumbsup2

The crowds were surprisingly low - I wasn't sure how the anniversary would effect things, but with it not being a Fantasmic night we were able to get a lot done.

I love our school! The small size is fantastic - but the kids feed into the district middle school with almost 1500 kids - it'll be quite a shock to Alex - if he even goes there. :confused3

Sounds like the program your son is involved in is a good combination of the two - a smaller group within the larger school community. :goodvibes

Happy Fourth of July, Amy! Hope you all have a wonderful day celebrating!

Happy 4th! I love the Mickey icon!

Thanks Ladies!! It's been sunny so far! :worship: Finally... but we just heard a few rumbles of thunder so we're having some "quiet time" inside for a little while. It's supposed to pass so we should be ok for fireworks... assuming we go tonight... the two places we usually go are postponed because we've had so much rain, the ground is really wet & muddy so there'll be nowhere to park. :headache: But we might go try out a new place tonight. :confused3

I hope you're enjoying the day!

PS - I stole the image from photobucket. ;)
