You think it has been hard to find Lysol spray for the past 5 months?

Lysol is already being "saved"
for institutional use. That's the big reason it's been much harder to find for household use for months.

It's sad some people are befuddled about using household cleaners. That's nothing new though.

Good to hear that it's being directed for institutional use. I do hope they divert some to the schools. It's too bad that teachers and parents are mainly stuck trying to supply that sort of stuff.

Lysol is hard for individuals to easily find.
On the other hand, schools/school districts should be able to purchase under institutional access.
I would think most are currently doing this in anticipation of need. (Along with PPE, etc.)

Have you guys and gals considered buying commercial disinfectant? Everyone thinks Lysol, but that is not what restaurants, hospitals and grocery stores use. You should be able to find some. Buy yourself some spray bottles and mix it. It will last you for years.

The most amazing part of this story is that it took the EPA this long to announce this. Great to see another institution doing such a stellar job. I know they've been super busy over there rolling back every regulation on the books to intentionally accelerate climate change, but I think an 8th grade biology class could have published their conclusions in early March before they sent the kids home.

I scored some on Amazon Fresh last night. We’ll see if I actually get them. Shelves have been empty since March and online not available at all.

I'm still not sure why I would ever need Lysol in my home. I clean with regular cleaning stuff. The virus is easily destroyed with soap. Also, the CDC has updated or reinforced guidelines stating that, while not impossible, it's pretty hard to catch the virus off a surface. While its DNA might be left behind, it's viability degrades slowly outside of a host. I just don't see the need for it.

Frankly, it should be saved and sent out to school systems and daycare centers so they have relative ease of spraying down high-use surfaces (tables/desks/public bathrooms) where people will be using those surfaces all day.

And yes, people are going to spray each other. My coworker, in the early days of this, had her 7 year old granddaughter visit and darned if her husband didn't spray the poor child down with the Lysol spray.
I have been saying since the beginning of all of this that soap and water is soap and water and will do the job. That said, my kids won’t have access to hot soapy water during the school day. While I understand it’s hard to pick up from surfaces I’d rather err on the side of caution. If nothing else it will make me feel better knowing they can wipe down their desk when they switch classes.

That’s just as impossible to find.

Well, I have always used it, for years and years. Usually the lavender scented ones as a room freshener.
So, if it is your habit to have it and then it is gone, you want to get it back.

commercial disinfectant
Examples of brands or where to purchase?

I really do not think it is the department's itself overall wish to roll back so very many climate change initiatives. I think those climate change directives come from elsewhere. :(

I work retail and we haven't gotten anything in for MONTHS. No sprays, wipes, etc. They tell us not to expect a "normal supply" until at least February.

not to derail thread, but what about rubbing alcohol? Will that EVER be in stock again? I've been trying to get a bottle since March - no exaggeration.

I have been able to find some very sporadically but it remains as elusive as ever. I think heading into fall and flu season it will be virtually impossible to get.

Same here. Everytime my sister in law finds some in WV, she buys one for her and has her daughter buy one for me. I have been able to stockpile 5 cans of the spray and 5 containers of the wipes over the last month. Our local stores have had ZERO of either!

I got some at Walmart a couple of months ago.
I was able to get two bottles for Marie in my weekly Walmart pickup about 2 weeks ago. I sure do like that Walmart pickup.

I've been regularly finding isopropyl alcohol now. At least once a week, one store or another had it. Safeway and Harris Teeter both have had it. Safeway had no limits on it.
